“Come on, Clay, let’s go talk in my office.” Knox nodded at his brother and grabbed my hand, pulling me away from the baby.

I had to admit that baby Titan was freaking adorable and was giving me some major baby fever. I mean, Knox and I did go at it like rabbits and we never used protection, it was bound to happen sooner rather than later. I had no idea if I was ready to be a mom yet, but I did know that I wanted to mother his pup one day.

Cameron was waiting in Knox’s office and I nearly tackled him the second my eyes landed on his face. I didn’t realize I had missed him so much until I saw him. He chuckled in surprise as I flung myself in his arms.

“Hello, angel, I missed you.” He said, kissing the top of my head.

“I missed you, too. Are you okay?” I asked, pulling back to look over his body.

“I’m fine.” He smiled at me. He looked over my head and nodded towards Knox.

“Let’s get settled in. What did you guys find out?” Knox said, sitting behind his desk.

I found myself at a crossroads, looking between Knox and Cameron. This was the exact situation I never wanted to be in. Cam was standing off to the side and Knox was at his desk, I stood awkwardly in the middle.

Knox nodded at me with an encouraging smile, almost nudging me towards Cameron with a single look. I raised an eyebrow at him in question as I stepped towards Cam. I studied Knox’s face for any sort of negative reaction. His expression remained unchanged.

I decided to stay with Cam, I didn’t really want to leave his side anyway. His arm went around my waist as I leaned against him. This was easily the closest and most romantic position we’ve ever been in, yet, it didn’t feel awkward or weird at all. It just felt right. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I didn’t know what was wrong with me. A few days ago I was ready to reject Cameron and send him home. Now, it felt like I couldn’t breathe when he was gone.

“Are we ready now?” Clay sighed, watching our exchange.

“Go ahead.” Knox said, ignoring his brother’s tone.

“There was a young couple living in the cabin when we got there. We found out that the woman was Matilda’s daughter. She and her mate moved into the cabin after her mother died.” Clay began.

“So, the nanny is dead?” I said. Cameron squeezed my waist reassuringly. I pressed my lips together and motioned for Clay to continue.

“The woman, Nancy, was twelve when the rogues attacked Velvet Moon so she remembered some of it. She remembered her mother running away with her, her brother, and two younger children. I showed them the photograph you found in the chest and she recognized Henry and Harper,” Clay said, looking at me,

“She said that they all lived in the cabin for a few months until things quieted down. Eventually, Matilda left for a few days with Henry and Harper but came back without them.”

“So, she has no idea what happened to them?” I asked, not even attempting to hide my disappointment.

“She had a theory. She thought that maybe her mother took them to a nearby rogue pack. They weren’t associated with the rogues who attacked Velvet Moon and they seemed to be separate from the Council. They were generally peaceful and created their own little misfit pack of strays.” Cameron explained while looking down at me.

“Do we know where this pack is?” I asked eagerly.

“Yes, we went there, that’s what took us so long, but no one was very forthcoming.” Clay said, looking at Cameron then like they shared a secret.

“What is it?” Knox sighed, picking up on the interaction as well.

“This is where Cameron and I disagree.” Clay said.

“Out with it.” Knox ordered.

“I think that we would have a better chance at getting information out of them if Navy goes and talks to them.” Clay said.

“And I think that’s a stupid idea.” Cameron snapped, pulling me closer.

“Baby, what do you think?” Knox looked over at me.

“I want to go.” I freed myself from Cam’s grip,

“I can take care of myself, Cam. Besides, I know that I’ll be well protected.”

“Damn right, we’re going with you.” Knox said, coming over to stand beside me.

“We?” Cam asked.

“Yeah, both of us, and Dover. Clay can stay here and look after the pack.” Knox said,

“How does that sound, baby?” Knox asked me.

“Okay.” I agreed enthusiastically.

“Cameron?” Knox shocked me by asking for Cam’s opinion.

“Alright.” He nodded.

“It’s a plan, then. We’ll leave in a few days. I just want to make sure that Jenna and the baby are okay before we leave.” Knox said and I agreed.

“Thank you, both of you.” I smiled up at both my mates.

“Anything for you, baby.” Knox said just as Cameron replied,

“Whatever you want, angel.” I sighed at the pair of them. Clay made a gagging sound,

“It was annoying when it was just two of you, now that it’s three, it’s intolerable.” He groaned.

“Oh go find Julia.” Knox rolled his eyes at the Beta. Clay turned into a lovesick puppy and ran off.
