Chapter 37 

That night, Lucas tried to be intimate with Annabelle for a long time! 

Exhausted, Annabelle was still thinking as she fell asleep. Was she such a shallow person? When she said she liked him, it was on a soul level, not a physical level. 

Of course, physical affection was also indispensable. 

Yes, she had to continue working hard to make him like not only her body but also her heart and soul. 

The next day, Annabelle slept until late in the morning. She only woke up when her phone rang. 

“Hello?” Annabelle felt weak all over. She picked up the call, placed the phone to her ear, and lay on her side on the bed, not wanting to move.

“Is this how you should be behaving as a wife?” Madeline asked with a frown. 

Annabelle closed her eyes. She did not know how to explain it to Madeline. She could not possibly tell her that Lucas had gotten intimate with her all night last night, right? 

“Madeline, what’s the matter?” Annabelle had already forgotten how long it had been since Madeline had called her. 

“Why? Can’t I call you for no reason?” Madeline asked in a deep voice. 

When Annabelle heard this, she could not help but sigh in her heart. Her mother, Madeline was really unwilling to spare her any gentleness. 

“Madeline!” Annabelle cried helplessly. Then, she did not know what to say. If she said no, Madeline could then call whenever she wanted. However, could this appease Madeline’s anger? 

“I know you don’t have the patience to listen to me!” On the other end of the phone, Madeline said with a sullen expression, “I don’t want to listen to your hypocritical words either. Your brother is going overseas in the next two days. Come back and have a meal with everyone! Consider it a farewell for your brother!” 

“…Alright! Although she had already had a meal with Nathan, it was the same meaning for the family to send Nathan off together. Therefore, Annabelle only paused for a moment before agreeing. 

“Don’t forget to bring Mr. Walker along!” In the end, Madeline did not forget to add. 

When Annabelle heard this, her heart skipped a beat. She suddenly suspected the intention of this farewell meal. Annabelle did not directly agree. In fact, when she thought of the way Ashley looked at Lucas, Annabelle was very unwilling to bring Lucas anywhere near Ashley Ross.

With that, she hung up without giving Annabelle a chance to speak. 

Annabelle looked at the phone after the call ended. After a while, she lay back down weakly. 

So, she… didn’t have to go back? 

Annabelle was still a little nervous. However, she remembered that she had already had a meal with Nathan and bode farewell to him. Even if she returns home, the atmosphere would not be good. Thus, she suppressed her anxiousness and lay down in peace. 

She felt uneasy just lying there because she was hungry. Her stomach rumbled non–stop. 

Annabelle had no choice but to get up and look for food. In the kitchen, Brenda was warming up the breakfast that she had prepared for her. 

After having had her fill, Annabelle sat in the living room for a while. Soon, she began to feel sleepy again. Just as she was about to sleep a little longer, the phone in the bedroom rang again. 

Annabelle vaguely heard a voice. She did not know who it was, but she still got up and returned to the bedroom. 

She planned to tidy up the bedroom later, but when she saw the caller ID, she understood that this plan would probably be ruined. 

“Madeline!” Annabelle answered the call and called out softly. 

“Where are you now?” Madeline, who was on the other end of the line, asked fiercely with a livid face. 

Annabelle was speechless. If she said that she was still at home, would she anger Madeline to death?

After saying that, she hung up the phone again.

Annabelle thought about it and did not refuse. She was pregnant now, so she wanted to avoid as much trouble as possible. 

The driver sent her to the Ross family’s residence and asked her to call him before she went back. He would pick her up then. 

This driver was not the one Annabelle had seen before. Thinking about it, this person should be Lucas’s personal driver. Upon hearing this, Annabelle did not have any objections. He bade farewell to the driver and entered the courtyard of the Ross family’s residence. 

“Eh? Anna, why are you here today?” Nathan, who was watching TV in the living room, hurriedly stood up and asked with a puzzled expression when he saw her. 

Annabelle said, “Nothing much. I just wanted to come back and take a look!” 

After Nathan sensed what Ashley was thinking thoughts, he did not want Annabelle to return to her family. People tend to be biased. “Did you come here on your own?” Nathan asked with a frown. 

Seeing this, Annabelle poked his forehead in amusement. “Why are you frowning at such a young age? Lucas told his driver to send me here!”
