Chapter 45 

“What happened?” 

The reply came very quickly. Annabelle looked at the reply and was in a difficult position. If he was preparing to come back after the gathering, she could still be thick–skinned and ask him to help buy it. However, if his gathering was not over, wouldn’t it be difficult for her to say that?

Annabelle waited for a long time, but when he did not respond, he retreated.

Lucas found the shop half an hour later. It was past ten o’clock, and there were not many people in the shop at this time. Seeing Lucas enter, the boss and the lady boss were still a little stunned. Lucas’s temperament was really incompatible with their small shop. 

“Sir, would you like a bowl of minestrone soup?” The white–haired boss rubbed his hands and asked uneasily.

The lady boss wiped the stool again and again before asking Lucas to sit down. 

Lucas refused, saying that he still had to go next door to buy crispy biscuits.

“You used to be a student here, right?” 

Lucas nodded. “It’s the university in front. It just graduated last summer!”

The boss and the lady boss were very nice. They were afraid that the minestrone soup would turn cold by the time he brought it home, so they especially found him a thermal lunch box.

“Thank you!” Lucas paid for both the soup and the food container. The money shocked the boss and the lady boss. A food container didn’t cost so much money. It wasn’t made of gold, 

However, Lucas was in a hurry to go home and did not give them a chance to refuse. The boss and the lady boss did not dare to do so, for fear that they would dirty the expensive clothes. 

“I’ll leave the rest here. In the future, I’ll drop by for some minestrone soup!” After Lucas finished speaking, he had already gotten into the car. 

The boss and the lady boss took the money and stared blankly at the door. How many times would he have to eat to offset so much money? 

When Lucas returned home, Annabelle was already asleep and lying on the sofa in the living room in her one–piece rabbit pajamas. 

Lucas placed the food container on the coffee table and quietly walked to her side. Perhaps it was because she was hungry, but the person who had fallen asleep was still frowning slightly. 

Lucas was still thinking about whether to wake her up to eat or carry her back to the bedroom for her to continue sleeping when Annabelle slowly opened her eyes. 

“What’s that smell?” Annabelle, who had just woken up, was still in a daze. 

Lucas thought that she had woken up because of the smell of the minestrone soup. Just as she smiled, a corner of his clothes was lugged. 

“A woman’s perfume?” Annabelle took a sniff and came to a conclusion. After saying that, she was wide awake. 

She sat up from the sofa with a tense expression. Even though she saw the food container on the coffee table, it did not save her mood from suddenly turning bad. 

“You’re not serious about marriage!” 

How could there be the scent of a woman’s perfume? Just as Lucas was about to say this, he suddenly remembered that he had been overwhelmed by the smell of perfume, which made him leave the club. 

Before he could explain, he heard Annabelle’s fierce accusation. 

Lucas raised his eyebrows and asked in a low voice, “Why am I not serious about marriage?” 

“Where did the perfume on your clothes come from?!” Annabelle puffed up her cheeks and glared at his coat as she asked fiercely. 

Given such a strong perfume scent, either someone was spraying perfume on his clothes or a woman was rubbing herself against him. A simple hug would not have left such a strong smell. 

“One of my buddies gave a lady some perfume. That lady sprayed it on herself and it stained my entire body! I came out because of this smell! It smells so overwhelming that it gives me a headache!” 

Annabelle looked at Lucas carefully, as if to see if he was lying. After a long time, she retracted her gaze. “Then go take a shower and get your clothes washed. I’m getting a headache from smelling it too!” 

Lucas looked at her serious expression and could not help but laugh.
