Chapter 72 

Neither Howard nor Yolanda looked happy. Howard was ashamed, and Yolanda was devastated. 

Yolanda had yet to recover from the shock until now. Did Lucas actually say that about her? Was that how he thought of her? 

As a matter of fact, she was overthinking it. Only Lucas, who treated them as his childhood friends, would be so straightforward. If they were anyone else, he would not be bothered. 

It was just that men and women had a completely different acceptance of such a thing, as Yolanda and Howard did. 

Howard was beaten up and scolded but realized he had done something wrong. On the other hand, Yolanda felt hurt and humiliated by Lucas in front of so many people. 

Therefore, she left in a daze without even seeing Donald and Susan. Howard wanted to chase after her, but he could not move his feet when he saw the finger marks on Hazel’s face. 

“I’m sorry!” Howard wanted to reach out and touch Hazel’s cheek, but Hazel avoided his hand. 

Hazel felt that it was ridiculous when she heard his apology. 

“Haven’t you been like this since we were young? As long as something happened between Yolanda and me, you’ll never ask why and always stand firmly on Yolanda’s side!” Hazel chuckled, but her eyes could not help but turn red. “You’re not my brother, and I don’t want you as my brother at all!. So, please, you can lick her alone in the future. Don’t bring me along!” 

Howard did not understand what it meant to lick someone, but her last sentence gave him a rough idea. 

He was still pretty upset. He had no idea that Hazel would feel so aggrieved. She was his sister, who was mischievous and insensible. As her brother, he just wanted to criticize and educate her. He did not know that Hazel had seen him this way! 

Then Hazel left with Elizabeth and refused to talk to Howard. 

Howard did not know what to do for a moment. Then he met Annabelle’s gaze. 

Annabelle was initially impressed with Lucas‘ friends. But now, she didn’t have a good impression of Howard. 

“You’re so mean!” said Annabelle. 

Then she turned around and left. 

Howard was speechless. 

In the end, Howard could only leave dejectedly. 

As soon as he reached the door, he saw Irving, who had come to freeload, and Josh, who had joined in the fun. 

Both of them were pretty curious to see Howard, who looked frustrated. 

Howard looked from one to the other. After much hesitation, he told them what had just happened. 

“Did Lucas hit you?” asked Irving, looking surprised after he heard Howard’s words. How many years had it been since Lucas had hit someone? 

“What’s wrong with you? How can you hit Hazel over such a matter?” said Josh, glaring at Howard with disapproval. 

“She fought with Yolanda!” Howard in a low voice. 

“Why did she do that?” Irving asked. 

“How would I know..” Howard muttered softly, interrupted by Irving before he could finish his sentences. 

“You don’t even know why, but you went up and gave Hazel a slap? Josh is right. There’s something wrong with you!” Irving said. 

Howard was at a loss for words. 

“Go wherever you need to go and don’t make Annabelle not welcome us!” Josh waved at Howard and said in solemnity. 

“That’s right. I can finally see it clearly now. Annabelle is now the number one person in Lucas’s heart! Whoever bullies Annabelle, Lucas is even angrier than Annabelle!” Irving said with a straight face. 

“By the way, where did Lucas kick you? Lift it up and let me see. Is it bruised?” Josh leaned in front of Howard and asked curiously. 

“Go away, go away!” Howard angrily shooed them away and then turned and stormed off. 

Irving and Josh ignored him and went into the Walker family. 

Annabelle was feeling a little down. Through Howard, she thought of her parents. She had been staying at the Walker manor for the past two days. Because there were many people and laughter everywhere, she had forgotten those sad things. 

But now, with Howard’s interference, she could not help but think of what her father had told her. 

Naturally, she would not have a pillow talk with Lucas about it. 

Lucas had his own considerations about who he wanted to work with. She did not know anything and would not dictate about it. 

Chapter 72 

“What’s the matter?” Lucas asked her worriedly when he saw that she was still upset. 

Annabelle shook her head and did not say anything However, she subconsciously snuggled into his arms. 

“Are you still feeling sad for Hazel?” asked Lucas, frowning when he thought of the possibility. He would have kicked Howard a few more times if he had known it would be like this. 

Annabelle shook her head and tightened her arms around him. “Did I get you into any trouble?” she asked. 

Because she didn’t explain the matter clearly, which caused Lucas to kick Howard. Would Howard have a problem with Lucas because of it? 

Lucas shook his head and said, “What kind of trouble is it? I already show mercy by not breaking his bones!” 

Then, worrying he was being too violent, Lucas quickly patted Annabelle’s head and clarified seriously, “I’m not usually like this. It’s because Howard went overboard that I couldn’t help but move my foot!” 

He did not usually have the chance to hit someone because no one dared to offend him.

Lucas thought about it before saying, “Maybe they’re not meant to be a family! That’s why they have to start a new family with someone who’s meant 

to be!” 

“Like you and me?” Annabelle looked up at Lucas and asked. 

Lucas gazed at her for a while and nodded solemnly. “You’re right,” he said. “It’s like you and I are destined to have an indestructible relationship! No matter what others do, we will manage our small family well, won’t we?” 

“Yes!” said Annabelle, nodding with great seriousness. “I will take good care of our home!” 

When Josh and Irving came in, they saw them huddling together. Who would have thought that Lucas, who used to be so cold and distant, would tum out like this? Ah, a marriage made people fall!
