A Journey Within the Realm
Chapter 1: The Portal to the Magic Realm

I was sitting at home, typing away on the computer. You see… I was a novelist who had hit a dead end. I hadn’t had a single hit or best seller in at least three years. I was staring at a blank page when my front doorbell rang. I got up and walked over to the door. When I opened the door, I saw a delivery man.

“May I help you?” I asked.

“I have a package for Randy Nelson,” the man said.

“I’m Randy,” I replied.

“Sign here,” the man said, handing me a pen and showing me the paper.

I signed the paper and he handed me a medium size package. After thanking him, I closed the door and walked back to my desk. Then, I unwrapped the package to find a book with a note attached. I read the note:

Dear Randy,

We hope you enjoy this book.

Love,

Your Mom and Dad.

I smiled. I read the title of the book. Hmmm… The History of the Magic Realm. ‘Magic Realm?’ Never heard of it. I opened the book to the first page. On the page was a inscription. I read it out loud.

“Anyone who reads this inscription will face the challenging journey through the Magic Realm, making new friends and understanding their true selves,” I read.

That was the most interesting thing I had ever read. Suddenly, the book began to shake. I dropped the book on the ground. After walking back a little, I watched as the pages of the book flipped. The pages stopped at the book’s halfway point and began the glow. Then, the light started to grow until it covered my rug on the floor. To my surprise, the book started to suck me in. I tried grabbing onto something, but couldn’t find anything. The next thing I knew, I got sucked into the book. After a flash of light, I saw myself falling from the sky.

“Holy beepily bleep of beep! This is going to hurt,” I yelled.

I shielded my face as I crashed through some trees. However, it didn’t help. I kept knocking into the branches. The more branches I hit, the more my vision darkened. Finally, I hit the ground. I tried getting up, but without any luck. After much trying, I blacked out. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“What was that?” I asked.

“It sounded like it came from the north,” replied Kuri.

“Let’s go check it out,” I said, running over where we heard the sounds.

“Wait for me, Miki,” exclaimed Kuri, following me.

We ran towards the noise, jumping from branch to branch. I stopped when I noticed a broken branch.

“Look at this, Kuri,” I said, pointing at the branches.

“Better yet, look at that,” Kuri replied, pointing at the ground.

I looked in the direction that she was pointing. There lay crumpled on the ground was the oddest looking person I had ever seen.

“Should we check it out?” I asked.

Kuri nodded. I jumped down from the tree, followed by Kuri. Then, we slowly walked over to the person, face first onto the ground. I flipped the person onto its back.

“What is it, Kuri?” I asked.

Kuri floated over to the person. She studied the person for a while.

“Ummm… Miki?” asked Kuri, “I think this is a man.”

“What’s a man?” I asked.

“I believe it the opposite gender of our race,” Kuri answered, “However, the Magic Realm hasn’t had a single man here for at least 100 years.”

“Then, where did he come from?” I asked.

“More important… is he alive?” Kuri asked.

I checked his pulse and then, his breathing. All normal. Then, I checked to see if he was asleep. Hmmm… more like out cold.

“He’s alive, but also out cold,” I replied.

“What should we do? He’s very badly hurt,” Kuri said.

“Let’s take him back to my place,” I answered, picking him up, “There, I can treat his wounds.”

“Right! Let’s go,” Kuri exclaimed.

I nodded before we rushed to my house. I wondered who this man might be? Where did he come from?
