Chapter 17 (Death isn't the end.) Unless You Want it to Be.

As the light began to spill through the trees, he arrived at home. His walls were holding from this side, but as they went through, the village was empty. In the distance was the clash of a battle. Zekka and Frick saw the undead Giants wearing Grixian Armor. They were hard to stop, but Frick’s walls were holding them back as they were slamming their gargantuan fists against the arcane barrier.

Innestra was behind the wall. She ran to them when she saw Frick. “Frick, May did it!” she said, looking at Zekka. “Is May okay?”

Frick pointed to his hat. “She is safer than you are right now.”

“I’m Zekka a friend of Frick’s. We are here to stop a calamity before it kills us all.”

“We are expecting a trap.” Frick added

Innestra looked back at the Giants stuck behind the wall. A soft sadness in her eyes, saying, “Crest was out fishing… it wasn’t going well, something was wrong with the water. He told me he had seen an older woman, when he came back, I asked him to go investigate.” She took in a long breath to hold back a few tears, before continuing. “He was the first Giant we killed. But the next came, and then another—faces we didn’t recognize. We stopped them but we’ve lost too many good men, and valuable time.”

“Then it’s time to end this.” Zekka said after getting off her horse. She placed her hand on Innestra’s shoulder, relieving her of the tiredness brought on by her long, endless fight. “You have Life on your side now, Not even a dead giant can stop us.”

Zekka moved into the front lines. She took the time to reinvigorate all of battered and exhausted. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Frick stayed back. “If we can get them pushed back, I can reinstitute my barrier. If I can, we have two walls for them to get through.”

“My son returned; the king is sending a legion to help. They should be here soon,” she explained as she moved toward the fight.

“A legion, he should be sending his whole army.”Frick complained

“It was before we knew what was happening,” she said, picking up a sword.

Frick walked to the front, shouting, “Alright, men, we need to push these creatures back. I am going to lower the shield, we need to fight; if we do, I can reinstate my original barrier, which they will not conquer.”

“For Frick’s Sake.” Kor the woodsman, shouted, bolstering the spirit of the remaining villagers spirit.

They rushed through the safety of the wall. Frick watched as men were thrown into the sea by the nearby giant. Frick pulled on a muscle holding the giant still, and several men began to hack at the lower legs.

Zekka pulled people out of the sea with the help of some muscles that appeared after her Inauguration as a Disciple of Life, it moved the water washing them back onshore where she could help.

As the first giant fell, the second appeared off in the distance. Frick pulled on the muscle, and the barrier stopped it from approaching. Cheers erupted as the thing fruitlessly Hammered on the new barrier. Zekka was returning to him. She passed by the giant corpse. It wasn’t dead. The giant grabbed at Zekka. Some people reacted. She didn’t scream as she was lifted off the ground; the giant didn’t lift her very high because, as it’s grimy fingers came in contact with Zekka, it began to slowly dissolve. Zekka was laughing as she landed on the ground. She dusted herself off and walked over to Frick who commented, “It seems like death is no friend to the new disciples of life.”

“Sadly, that was no death. I have power over the undead,” she corrected.

“Whatever power you have, it seems to be what our little village needs.” Innestra said

“Then we need a boat,” Frick stated.

“Your boat is still docked up the coast.” Innestra said, pointing up the coast toward the Village.

Zekka and Frick took off toward the boat, ready to end the siege of giant undead monsters.
