His wings were limp at his sides, but that was not what the fae was concentrating on. He ignored the Dwarf who he used as a crutch. He ignored the woman whose glare pierced his mind. They were not his concern when his eyes were glued to the floor. When his body for the first time in…he had no idea how long, but for once he was making a step.

A step, something that toddlers could achieve yet here he struggled. His toes curled against the stone floor, feeling the cold bite down on the pad of his foot. His legs shook beneath him, but he did it. He could make a step.

“Good,” the woman said, pleased with his progress. He was not trying to please her cruelty, were all people like this? Was this normal behaviour? He often wondered why parts of him thought their treatment was wrong. As far as he was concerned the were hospitable. They were all he knew.

“I am expecting chaos now that the Queen is finally dead. I know my original plan was to just stab him once he was recovered to test the blade on a strong subject, but well I just got some new information…and I think my plan might have changed” the woman said eyes focused, a wicked smile forming.

“To what my Lady?” Vikervash asked.

She did not reply to his question, but rather asked the Fae a question. “What is your name?”

What is your name.

What is your name.

What is your name.

His mind hurt the more he asked the question. Like trying to grasp for something just out of his reach. A pounding began in his head and eventually he gave up trying. “I don’t know.”

He spoke…his voice raspy from the ages he spent screaming, but he spoke.

“Your name is Koltalla. Kol how would you like to not get stabbed…but work for me instead?”

Kotalla? Was that truly his name? The word was familiar to him…he nodded his head at the Lady. Perhaps if he did as she pleased, then his life would be better.

She smiled at him. “Good, when I see you tomorrow, we will discuss what I will require you to do. No more pain,” she tells him.

No more pain, he repeats in his mind. The woman leaves the room, along with the Dwarf. He had a name. What else did he have? He thought and thought, yet silence was all that answered. His head started to pulse once more, the deeper he went.

Bang - bang can anyone else hear you?

You stomp and stomp- hitting my mind

One wall breaks, soon will another

Can someone please tell me it’s over?

Numbness, is what I beg for,

But it is a mercy that you shall not grant

Oh please, but who do I pray to?

Everything is forgotten - except for you.

You with the crooked smile.

You with the poisoned drum.

The beat that keeps cracking my mind.
