Chapter 14: The Show Begins

“Lilian, I am Mr. Alexander of Rainer Entertainment. The decision–making power lies with me, not you!” Brent glared at Lilian with anger in his eyes. “Why do you have to take away Hillary’s endorsement?”

“Is endorsement something that I can just grab if I want to? HF requested a change and I was afraid that this endorsement would be lost in the end. Originally, I didn’t believe all the things between you and Hillary, but now you are willing to sacrifice your own interests to keep her endorsement. Does it mean something between you two…?Lilian’s disappointment was evident as she let go of the phone.

“Of course not! What nonsense are you thinking?” Brent immediately denied it. “I just think that since we’re getting married soon, can’t you focus on taking care of our family at home?”

“Why don’t you explain it to Mr. Fitzgerald from HF then?” Lilian let go of the phone and looked disappointedly at Brent. “And what do you mean by me taking away Hillary’s endorsement? Didn’t I give it up for her before? To push her up there, I’ve offended everyone who could be offended… But in the end, she doesn’t even remember your kindness.”

“That was because back then when you announced your retirement yourself,” Hillary retorted angrily while standing behind Lilian in Brent’s office arguing with her about being assigned as a model instead of endorsing products herself which is what she hated most about someone else doing after having taken over from Lilian.

“And besides,” continued Hillary heatedly while looking directly into Lillian’s eyes, “with your current status and fame level how could anyone believe that YOU gave way for ME?”

“If You can convince Mr.Fitzgerald otherwise then fine, I’ll withdraw my endorsements

without any objections.”

Brent found himself caught between two women who were both angry and frustrated. The most important thing was that Lilian had not yet calmed down, otherwise she would never

have disobeyed his orders. Although it was impossible to change the model back to Hillary, Brent disliked the feeling of being dominated by Lilian.

As smart as Lilian is, she understood Brent’s intentions long ago but thought he could still be careful with her feelings like before? Dream on!

Hillary followed behind Lillian with anger in her heart which showed clearly on her face. She almost lost control but managed to keep herself together since Lillian did not have much

popularity left after retiring for a while now so it would be easy for Hillary to tear apart an over–the–hill model like her. So she turned around and said to her assistant: “Take some  Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

pictures of me trying hard to recover and post them online later, inciting fans‘ complaints about how Lilian stole my endorsement deal.”

“Don’t worry, I know what to do,” replied the assistant knowingly.

After returning to the dressing room, Lilian winked at Sylvia: “Don’t be nervous.”

“Nervous? What are you talking about?” Sylvia rolled her eyes. “I am who I am today because I’m your agent! If Brent wants trouble then let him come…wait and see.”

A moment later, Sylvia entered Brent’s office where he threw the contract in front of her saying: “Prepare your breach–of–contract penalty fee and leave our company.”

–

“Leave?” Sylvia sneered, “Mr.Hart seems forgetful; when I signed with Rainer Entertainment years ago my salary was tied directly into endorsements from you or other models under this agency – including yours,Lilian- but all these years due to Hillary taking over all those deals instead of you, I’ve been shortchanged thousands compared what we agreed upon originally.Who broke their promise first? And besides, the comments I made were entirely based on Lilian’s interests. Did I violate any of the terms in our contract?”

“You…” Brent didn’t expect to be outsmarted by an agent, and his face couldn’t hide his

embarrassment.

“If you’re not afraid of this matter getting bigger, then we can fight it out in court. I don’t care, but who else in the industry will believe Rainer Entertainment?” Sylvia provocatively

asked.

“What do you want?” “Hello everyone, it’s time to say goodbye. I’ll sign and leave, and you don’t need to worry about any breach of contract fees. From now on, we owe each other

nothing!” Brent glared at Sylvia in anger but couldn’t come up with a rebuttal due to

Hillary’s involvement. Sylvia took advantage of this when discussing with Lilian, so in the end, Brent could only sign while suppressing his anger: “Get out of here! I never want to see

you again.”

–

“Brent, let me give you some advice there are no secrets that can be kept forever. Treating

Lilian like this will cost you a thousand times more someday.” After saying this, Sylvia left

the office with the termination letter while Brent flipped over the desk because of her words.

Lilian wasn’t worried about Sylvia being bullied by Brent since finding loopholes in contracts was too easy for her; most importantly though was that Brent felt guilty.

After terminating her contract, Sylvia didn’t leave the company and followed behind Lilian which caught Brent off guard as he asked: “Why haven’t you left yet?”

Lilian hesitated before replying: “Because I signed Sylvia as my assistant!”

“Lilian, your management contract is under our company. What right do you have to sign. another agent?” This made Brent furious.

“I didn’t sign an agent; I signed an assistant for myself. Don’t I have that right?” Lilian calmly smiled and said: “After all these years of taking care of me, I’ve grown accustomed to having Sylvia around.”

“Lilian what has gotten into you? Are we going against each other now?” An angry–looking

Brent grabbed Lilian aside asking.

“It’s because unlike your fiancé who cares more about herself than others‘ interests even if she takes on endorsements,” replied Lilian calmly without showing any emotions in her eyes.

Brent fell silent after hearing this and looked at Lilian coldly: “Lilian, you’ve always been supportive of my work. How could you become like this?”

“I said that when I was the substitute for Crown Star, it was the last time I would help cover

up your mistakes.” Lilian remained calm with no emotions in her eyes.

“If you’re going to be so stubborn, then maybe we shouldn’t get married,” Brent tried to use their engagement as leverage against Lilian since she had always revolved around him and done everything he asked.

For a long time…Lilian didn’t say anything. It seemed like she was weighing her options….

Brent thought she had softened and regretted opposing him…

But he never expected what Lilian would say next…
