Chapter 54

Julian's POV

I had had doctors coming and going since Nicki had been unconscious. When Alexa had come in to see her, I wasn't sure what she was going to do but when she dropped the bombshell of her having a spell placed on her. There was nothing I could do but wait now. I just hoped that when she did wake up, she would be ok.

I felt bad for not going and helping on this first mission, but I couldn't leave Nicki's side right now. She needed me and I needed her to be ok. It was late and everyone had left a few hours ago, so I crawled into bed and pulled Nicki to me and just held her. At some point, I fell asleep holding her.

I was woken up early in the morning by a mind link from Alexa.

“Julian, we will be back in about thirty minutes, and we have ten people that need to be seen by a doctor and we also have ¢ prisoner” She said

“What, I thought you were going to observe and find out where they were coming and going from?” I linked back.

“Well, we were but when I saw ten people, some human and some wolves chained together I couldn't let them go with them, I had to rescue them.”

“OK, I will be waiting with doctors and warriors to take him to the cells with our other prisoners”

I cut our link and hugged Nicki tighter to me for a few more minutes. I didn’t want to leave her, but I had to go help take care of this. I finally slipped out of bed and threw on some clothes and went downstairs. I placed links to several doctors to come and also Luca and our lead warriors. I went to the kitchen and grabbed some snacks and drinks. I am sure they are going to be hungry, and I don't want to wake anyone else up just yet. Just as I finished, I heard them pull in.

I walked out to the front porch as they were piling out from the cars. I walked over and started helping them out of the SUVs Every one of them were looking at the ground and most were shaking. There were four women, four children, and two men. The two men were human and looked like they have had a few beatings. There was one woman who was a human, and she also had a few bruises. The rest were wolves including the children.

“Come inside, we have doctors waiting and I also have some food waiting” I told them.

“Luca, take the warriors and our prisoner here down to the dungeon and we will be down there soon. I want him alone in the first room.” I told him.

They took off and we escorted the rest into the dining room so they could be seen by our doctors and get some food. “Alexa, mind telling me what the hell happened?” I asked her.

“I told you I couldn't leave them. Robert is behind all of this. We have to find him. One of the men said that they could be sold but we haven't gotten more information yet” She said.

“OK, let's go talk with the wolves first and see what they know. The humans are going to be a little trickier. Now they know about us we have to figure out what to do” I said.

The three humans were all sitting together away from the others who were wolves, so this made it easier. We walked over to the wolves first and sat down with them.

“Are you guys doing ok?” Alexa asked.

“Yes, we just want to go home." One of them said.

“Where is home?” Alexa asked.

“Us three women and three of the children are all from Black Lakes Pack. The fourth child I am not sure. She hasn't spoken since she was picked up”

“Your Alpha is Alpha Jake. I know him and will go call him right now” Colter said pulling his phone out.

“What is your name?” Alexa asked the girl that wasn't talking.

The little girl didn't say anything but ran straight to Alexa and threw her arms around Alexa’s legs and started crying. Alexa bent down and pulled the little girl into a hug trying to comfort her and when Alexa looked up her eyes were light blue agair like when she went and saw Nicki.

just stood there watching her and her eyes glazed over, and she wasn't moving. I didn't want to interrupt her, but it was a little creepy. Colter had come back over while she was doing this, and he started to talk but quickly stopped and just watched his mate. Her eyes finally lost that glazed look, and she stood up, but it seems that Jade is still present

“She is a rouge and doesn't have a home. Her mom was killed, and she is afraid we will kill her because of it” Jade said. She released her hold on Alexa and her eyes went back to their normal blue ones. She bent back down and hugged the girl whispering to her. The girl just shook her head yes at her. Alexa finally let the girl go and the girl went and sat at the table with the other wolves.

“What did you say to her?” I asked.

“I assured her that she would not be killed that what happened was not her fault and that I would help her find a family to love her. She will be coming back to our pack” She said looking at Colter.

“What did you find out from Alpha Jake?” She asked.

“He said that they went missing a week ago and he is loading a van coming to get them right now. He will be here in about four hours?” Colter said.

“Good, let's get them some showers and clean clothes and they can rest until he gets here; Alexa said.

I was about to respond when I was hit with the most amazing scent of cinnamon and coffee. Zion was howling in my head and then started screaming at me.

“Mate is here, mate is here!”

I could smell her and it was the most intoxicating thing ever. I slowly turned around and there stood the most amazing woman ever. My mate. My true mate. I took long strides toward her and when I got there, I swept her up into my arms and she started to giggle. It was like music to my ears. I knew I had made the right decision. “Nicki, I can feel your wolf and also we are each other's, second chance mate," I said before kissing her.

I finally pulled away and put her down on her feet and just stared at her.

“You're awake, I can't believe it. I am sorry I wasn't with you." I told her.

“It's ok, we have a lot to talk about but what is going on here?” She asked.

“Alot. Alexa rescued some of the people that had been kidnapped and we were just getting them medical care and food. We still need to talk with the humans they took” I told her.

“He really took humans?”

“Yes, he did."

I pulled her to my side, and we walked back over to Alexa and Colter who were just smiling at us.

“Nicki, I am so happy to see you awake," Alexa said.

“It's great to be awake and to have my wolf back. It's like when I first got her. Its a little overwhelming” She said.

“What are we going to do about the humans?” I asked.

“We need to know what they know first. Does anyone know a witch who could perform a spell that could erase their memories and then we can drop them in their hometown?” Alexa asked.

Did she just ask if we knew any witches? We don't work with witches, and we don't like them.

“No, I don't. Do you?” I asked her back.

“I know that Robert had worked with them” She said

She said it like it was no big deal. This was a huge deal. Wolves and witches didn't get along and they don't work together. “Princess, what do you mean that Robert worked with them?” Colter asked.

“He had some that would come and go. I thought it was normal” She said.

“No Princess not normal.” Colter said.

“Well, Mac brought in a witch when you were in the hospital and wouldn't wake up. Call him and see if his friend would help, Alexa said.

“I don't think that is a good idea. I don't know who it was and we can't risk anything right now,” Colter said.

“Come on, let's talk with the humans and just see what they know first and then we can go from there,” I said.

We all got up and went over to the humans. They all kept their heads down and didn't greet us.

“Please come with us, we would like to speak with you. We mean you no harm.” Alexa said.

They all stood up and the two men put the women between them. I had to give them credit at least they were trying to protect her. I could smell the fear rolling off them. We would have to convince them that we meant no harm for them to speak. We finally made it to my office, and I opened the door and we all shuffled in and went to the table.

“Please take a seat, told them.

They all sat down keeping their eyes down. I looked to Alexa to speak to them. She seemed to have a way with people.

“You guys can look at us. We really mean you no harm, we want to help you, but we need to know what you know first” Alexa said.

They finally looked up to us and they were a sight for sore eyes.

“We don't know much. This is my brother and my girlfriend. We were out on Friday night, and they tried to take just her but when we tried to stop them more of them came out and took us” The bigger of the two boys said.

“Where did they take you?" Alexa asked.

“We don't know we were blindfolded and then once we were at wherever they took us we were separated until their leader wanted to hurt me." He said again.

“hat do you mean he hurt you?" Alexa asked.

“Please don't, I can't hear someone say it” The girl asked and started crying

“No need I understand. What can you tell us?” Alexa asked.

“Just that whatever they are doing is not right. We wouldn't have survived. They talked about experiments and which ones they wanted to try on different humans. He also talked about selling wolves to fund it” He said.

“What do you know about the wolves?" Alexa asked.

“That you're one of them. That some humans transform into them.” He said.

“OK, I think that is enough for now. Let me take you guys to a room and some fresh clothes. You are safe here? I told them. “Wait, I am sorry I didn't get your name dear but would like to see a doctor and make sure that you have no untreated injuries from what was done to you?” Alexa asked.

“Yes!” Her boyfriend spoke up.

“No, I am really ok.” She said.

“Please baby I want you checked out” He begged her.

“Come on dear, I will take you over? Alexa told her.

she finally got up with Alexa and Nicki and they walked out the door. Maybe now I could get some more answers out of thes boys.

“Do you guys want to tell me where you're from?” I asked them.

“We are from Mountain City” One of them said.

“Can you please tell us what the hell is going on, because we are really confused. What are you guys?” The other one asked. “What has happened stays between us do you understand?” Colter said.

They both shook their heads in understanding.

“We are werewolves, and this is a pack. It is his pack. That is Alpha julian, and I am Alpha Colter. I have another pack a few hours away” Colter said.

“I knew it” One of them shouted.

“Look the man who ordered you guys to be kidnapped is a bad person and we are trying to take him down, but for now, let's show you guys your rooms. I have three separate rooms for you guys, but later we would like to talk again," I told them.

“No, my girlfriend will stay with me."

“That is her choice and Alpha Alexa will talk to her about it. You will also have a guard outside your room. If you need anything just let them know and they will take care of it” I told them.
