Alpha Black
Chapter 38 Bloody Hands

Nathaniel Black

The silver of her knife had been covered in blood, much of which had dried on her fingers, hand and forearm. She was a sight to behold, with a fire burning in her eyes, her attacks were ruthless and well planned, taking the biggest of human or wolf out with the simplest of strokes. I would have stood in awe of her, if it had not been for the hundreds of corpses that were piling around us, where one wolf fell, another took it’s place.

Jamie had returned, not long after Darius had embraced the cool clutches of death, having railed those loyal to us, I was certain of our victory. But the pack members, the men and women who had fallen was shattering, I felt each life being pulled taunt before finally shattering, the bond between Alpha - Omega, Warrior, and Beta. Even if they had betrayed me, nearly severing the bond between us, it was like a stab to my chest for every life that was lost.

I didn’t need to check if they were dead, if the life had slipped from their eyes, the breathing stop. It was a shattering void inside me, the voices that could have once filled my head and my mind, now feeling slightly more empty.

No one ever tells you what it’s like for an Alpha to lose your pack members, let alone a whole pack. Any Alpha who could survive their whole pack being sponged off the map would go insane – the feeling, at such a mass level was excruciating. It didn’t help that I could taste their blood as my teeth plunged into their necks.

Following a loud bang, a sudden searing pain in my lower back made me yelp and I jumped back from a small brown wolf that stood beside me. I swivelled around to see what caused the pain, only to see Nathan standing through the trees, a thick fog misting around him and something reflecting the moon light clutched in his hands.

The bang fired again and I realised he was holding a gun, most likely filled with silver bullets, knowing him he would have been hunting down such a tool for years now. In an attempt to dodge the bullet, I leapt to the side, only for the bullet to lodge it’s self in my stomach and introducing more waves of pain to my abdomen.

I felt my body hit the ground as I rolled, suddenly the ground beneath my vanished and I felt air rushing through my fur – I’d fallen off a small cliff. Sadly, I met the cold stone quarries bottom and pain flooded my system, as I arched my back and shifted back into my human form, the silver bullets falling from the wounds as I did so.

I clambered across the rocks, grasping at the sharp edges of the cool stone and saw a white flash in front of me – Alice. She crouched down and ran her soft fingers across my temple and down my jawline, “are you okay?” he asked, the concern well hidden from her voice.

“I think I will live,” I coughed, the movement sending searing pain throughout my body, my hand clutching the hole in my abdomen. “Maybe.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t let you die, not after I’ve fallen in love with you,” she said a smile lighting up her face, but tears present in her eyes.

This was the first time she had said it out loud, she loved me, “You love me?” I asked, my heartbeat increasing, as if I was afraid she’d deny it, say I was delusional or that I’d been dreaming.

“I love you,” she confirmed.

“I love you too.”

“I know, now please, stay here and try not to move, Jamie isn’t far away.”

“No,” I grunted, trying to push myself to my feet, “I have to protect you.”

“You have,” Alice said, pushing me back down to the ground, “you have protected me every moment of every day since you met me. Now let me protect you.”

Her chocolate brown eyes were hard as stone, she didn’t know it, but she was commanding me with the Alpha blood that flowed through her veins. I was normally able to brush her commands aside, but in my weakened state and my loss of blood, my body slumped back down to the cold hard ground.

“Good boy,” she purred, giving me a wink.

She stood up and dusted her knees off, picking up the silver blade off the ground next to me and standing back to face the clearing.

His chilling chuckle filled the clearing and ricocheted off the stone cliff around me, “Well, well, well, look at you Alice!” he said, appearing on the edge of the clearing, “You’ve stepped up to be quite the little mate, haven’t you.”

His eyes sparkled dangerously, and a smirk seemed to be permanently etched on his face, “I will enjoy watching my nephew squirm helpless as I kill you, or maybe I should take you first, show you what a real man can do.”

“Shut the fuck up,” Alice spat, “you will be the one begging for forgiveness by the time the night is up.”

The smirk fell quickly from Nathan’s face and he tilted his head slightly, “learn your fucking place you bitch,” he spat in return. His hands flicked up dramatically and suddenly dozens of blinking eyes could be seen from behind the thicket of bushes and trees, several rouges stepping into the clearing, snapping and growling.

“Get the bitch,” he said, gesturing to one of the wolves, who lunged viciously.

I couldn’t help it, but the words let my mouth, “NO! Alice!’ I yelped as I tried to lunge towards her, but only fell onto a nearby rock.

Yet my attempts were pointless, the wolves lunged at her, and yet she stayed perfectly still until the last second, couching down, missing the sharp teeth and claws of the wolf. Yet her blade made contact, the silver metal sliced through the wolf like butter and he collapsed just behind her, if he was not dead, he would be in moments.

She stood back up, straightening herself and flicking the hot red blood off the blade with a flick, the blade now steaming as the silver burned and boiled the blood, “what was that you called me?” Alice asked calmly, looking at the shock on Nathan’s face.

“I said get the bitch, you fucking fools!” Nathan howled and two more wolves lunged towards her from opposite sides of the clearing.

She stepped backwards this time, slicing the first wolf in the same manner, spilling his guts on the ground, and stabbing the second in the rear, before winding the blade up to his head and decapitating him. Placing her boot on the wolf, she pulled the blade from her third kill and gave it another flick.

“I do hope you can do better than this,” she sighed, looking at the rouges who now circled her uncertainly. “For a rebellion, you’re rather disappointing. But I guess that comes with having a disappointing leader.”

Nathan let out another deranged scream, “kill her, kill her, kill her, kill her, kill her, kill her!” he commanded, more wolves lunging at my mate. This time, she made no instant kills, but her blade making contact with the six wolves as they drew too close. They yelped in pain with the cuts she delivered, the silver stopping their wounds from healing and poisoning their blood.

These wolves worked cohesively together, but not well enough, as Alice took down each one again. As she pulled her blade from her nineth kill of the evening, my blood turned cold at the malicious cackle that my uncle let rip through the clearing.

The cackle washed out as I heard a growl rip from the rocky cliff above me, as a rouge perched too close for comfort, this wolf could easily leap and kill me in my weakened form. I began to clamber against the rocks, trying to remove myself from danger.

And my stomach dropped as Alice let out a yelp. She must have turned to face me because a rouge had latched itself to her shoulder, blood gushing down her human form, she swung the blade at it, making contact it recoiled and freed her.

She collapsed to one knee, gripping her shoulder and looked at me, ’I’m sorry’ she whispered through the mind link.

“A-” I began to call out her name, but ran towards me. I heard the scrapping of claws on stone and looked away from my mate to the wolf that would take my life. He was scruffy, but even with his poor form, he would still make the jump and claw at my weak human form, the hole my stomach had barely healed.

A white blur collided with the rouge, smashing it into the stone with such force that it cracked the rock and the rouge fell at my feet lifeless. I looked at the rouge and couldn’t help my wrinkle my nose at the stench of the pack-less beast. I suddenly began to look for Alice, she no longer stood in the clearing…

It was her, she shifted. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I slowly turned my head to the cliff, and looked at the most beautiful wolf I had ever seen, a white wolf. She must stand taller than my own beast, with a thick and fluffy coat that was whiter than snow she glowed in the moonlight, she was beautiful.

I expected to see her brown eyes gazing down at me, but they were white, just like the rest of her wolf, I could barely tell she was looking at me, she gracefully leapt down from the cliff and circled me protectively, nuzzling at my arm and neck.

“It’s nice to finally meet you,” I said, running my free hand through her soft fur.

A growl ripped from her lips, and I froze, she jumped and tore a rouge in two, her jaws breaking bones and tearing muscles in a simple flick.

Nate!’ Jamie said through the mind link finally, ’Are you okay? Is Alice, okay? I’ll be there in a second’.

I cleared my throat and my thoughts, which were consumed with the awe I held for my mate, ’I’m doing fine now. But warn the warriors, of the white wolf.’

Who is it? Who’s the White Wolf?’

‘Alice.’
