Chapter 76

Still Dominic's POV

I can feel my anger rising, like a F****g volcano threatening to erupt. I keep trying to talk myself off this anger, I keep telling myself that it isn't what I'm thinking, it simply can't be. There is no way in hell that Harriet could be a mole, her father would never forgive her for betraying me, I would never forgive her if it turns out to be true. For crying out loud, I trusted her completely, she had learned so much from me over the years, she trained my generals, making them the strongest warriors I've ever been opportune to work with. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that she would ever betray me. What the hell am I even saying, did she really betray me?

“Don't push me, Harriet. Speak right now before I strangle you to death!” I yelled in anger, making her move back in fear. I could see the fear and uncertainty in her eyes, I could tell that she wants to speak out but for some reason, she seems to be holding back. Carl and Dwayne walked in at that moment, they took in the tense situation in the room and they stood still at the entrance, trying to find out what is going on. I looked at Carl, studying his reaction, trying to see if he is in on it as well, but he looks so confused like the rest of us, I could see Harriet hiding behind Bethany, I know she is avoiding her mate, trying to avoid his eyes. It is so obvious that Carl doesn't know what is going on as well, I wondered if their bond is even rea in the first place, I mean, how long has she been lying to him, it's just so wrong. Hold on, I shouldn't be saying that, I'm mated to Bethany and I still lie to her every day, but that's different. I lie to protect her, not to hurt her.

“What's wrong Dom, what did she do?" carl asked me through our mind link.

“I have no idea what she has done, but something is off about her, I think she has something to do with King Ashford” I told him, watching as his eyes widened in shock.

“You are kidding me, right?

You don't really think she is a mole, do you?” he asked back in shock, keeping his face blank so the others don't know that we are communicating.

“Why don't you get her to talk so we can find out if she is a mole or not!” I scolded him fiercely when he tried to defend her. He let out a frustrated sigh before taking slow steps toward her. She was still too ashamed to look into his eyes, it just felt off. I don't think Harriet is a mole, she doesn't act like one. King Ashford’s moles do not feel remorse or pity, they are so strong-headed and stubborn, even to their death. Why is she acting this way, what could be wrong with her, is she in trouble “Go for it man, make her talk." I mind-linked Cole once more, urging him to go forward. He nodded in understanding before taking a step toward her. She still tried to hide her face, but he cupped her cheeks with both palms, forcing her to look into his eye. I couldn't help rolling my eyes at their public show of affection, I'm just not in the mood for this, I want to know wha is going on and I want to know right now. This continuous waiting is getting me more upset by the second, besides, I still have to attend to other things too. My guards informed me a few minutes ago that the visitors I am expecting have arrived. I need to get back to work, I need to come up with a perfect plan to trick king Ashford. I let out a groan when they wouldn't stop cuddling before us.

“Get right on it man, or do you want us to excuse you guys for a minute?” I asked in a sarcastic tone, feeling bored already. “Your heart is beating so fast, my love. What did you do, what's wrong?” he asked her calmly, making me sigh in frustration and relief. At least he finally asked her, even if it sounded like soft love talk instead of questioning.

“I'm so sorry Carl I didn’t mean to doit, but I had no choice. I didn’t mean to stop her, I wouldn't have let her do it on her own, I just wanted to stall her until I find a way to free my father. I would never betray the king, I was just trying to stall this mission to give me more time to find my father” She explained hysterically, tears spilling out of her eyes, making me feel so damn angry for ever believing that she is my faithful general. It's obvious that she is lying, I mean how can she lie with her father, that's just so dumb.

“Wait, slow down Harriet, what the hell are you talking about?

Your father is in my custody, Harriet. If you want to lie to me, then you have to come up with a much better lie. How dare you stand there and lie to my face, how dare you, Harriet?” I yelled in anger, earning me a glare from Bethany and the guys. What the hell is wrong with them, can't they see that she is telling lies. I would understand Bethany if she looks at me that way, she doesn't know about the Alphas lodge, she doesn't even know that her father is there as well. It is not surprising that Car would fall for this as well, I mean, she is his mate you know. He wouldn't want to judge her wrongly, he always wants to see the best in her always. But why is Dwayne looking at me that way as well, why is he believing her lies, is he F*****g daft or what?

“You have ten minutes to convince me that you are telling the truth or I swear I'l kill you right where you stand," I told her fiercely, ignoring the pleading look I was getting from everyone in the room. She heaved a sigh of relief, coming forward to stand in front of me, smiling happily. She makes it so hard to be furious at her, I'm beginning to think that she is innocent after all.

“I got an email this last night. It came with an instruction that warns me not to say a word to anyone or I lose my father. He said he will instruct me on what to do to get my father back alive. I kept silent as I was instructed and this afternoon, he sen me an email, telling me to make sure Bethany carries out the instructions given to her. I know I was being used, I was just trying to stall Bethany before she involves you, I would never have done what he is asking I would never betray you, my king” She explained calmly, the tears spilling out of her eyes. I don't know why but I was still finding it hard to believe her, it still doesn't add up, it doesn't make any sense.

“I don't buy this Harriet. I need proof, I need to see everything, I need to know why you would do this goddammit!” I yelled a her, telling her exactly how I feel. She told me that she has all the proof on her laptop, but she can't go and fetch it right nov because we have no idea who the mole is. If he sees her with her laptop, he would know that something is wrong and he could report back to the king and put her father in danger. I decided to take her to my office, I could view her emails throug! my computer. It's a good thing that my tech guy is around, it would be way easier to handle these situations. I decided to go with Harriet alone, I don't want any surprises until I've sorted out this issue. If we all troupe in together, the mole would know that something is wrong, we have to go one after another.

“Meet us in my office. Don't follow us immediately, you have to wait for at least thirty minutes before you start coming.” I instructed them before leaving. We viewed her email and true to her words, there was a message from King Ashford. He had pictures of her father, pictures that we're taken in the Alphas lodge, in my very own building. These pictures were taken whe he wasn't looking, there were private moments of his that were captured in a photograph. He wasn't holding her father, he is still in my building, but he was threatening her with his life. He is simply trying to let her know that his moles are close to he father, which means that he can take him out whenever he wishes to. How on earth did he get so bold, who is the mole and how had he sent those pictures, I had taken away their phones, I took out the cell towers and disconnected them from the outside world, how then does he communicate with his moles, how are they sending him all these things.
