Lorena POV

The ride on the horse was harder than I thought especially even though Miss Donna asked me to connect with the horse, it was a lot harder than I thought. I could barely control how I rode the horse.

“There is still a chance for you to change your ways and tell the truth!” Hallie shouted as she rode in front of me. "you could be doing everyone a favor if you admit to killing her”

I heaved a deep sigh because talking to her was pointless. No matter how hard I tried to prove it to her and every other person that I was not involved in the death of Danielle, she would never believe me. When we got to the forest, we both came down from our horses and began looking around for the animals we could hunt. All I wanted was for the hunting to end because I was already getting fed up with everything.

The only reason why I kept going on was that I wanted to find out the truth about everything that was going on in the royal home.

Finding out who killed Danielle was one of the many truths I wanted to find out.

“how many times would I tell you that I have no idea how she died?" I heaved a deep sigh and rubbed my forehead.

Hallie laughed at me and then rolled her eyes. “Do you think that I give a damn about any of that!” she yelled at me. “I must tell you that I am going to be the concubine and get rid of you”

I clenched my fist when I heard her say something like that. I had heard numerous times about how everyone labeled me as his toy and the annoying thing was the fact they had no idea how I truly loved him. I wanted him to be mine only and it was one of the reasons why I decided to be a part of the concubine selection. Even though I had stopped my revenge about killing him, I still wanted the humans to be freed from the world of slavery.

“I love him," I confessed and Hallie's eyes widened when she heard what I had said.

She scoffed and rolled her eyes.

I am never going to allow you to become concubine after what you did to her!”

I pushed her on the chest too and yelled at her. “How dare you try to tell me what to do huh!” I continued pushing her until her back hit the tree. I am going to change the world no matter what everyone thinks, I am going to change the world and help the humans!”

I ruffled my hair and heaved a deep sigh. Talking with her was going to get me nowhere but I knew that somehow, I had to convince her and made her believe that my intentions were clear.

“I don't think you should judge since we are both contesting for the same thing. While all you think about is having a great life of being a concubine for the king, I am thinking of how I am supposed to change the world and..." I paused as I suddenly felt dizzy. I have been feeling like that for the past few days and I couldn't even fathom what was happening to me. I held my head and placed my hand on Hallie’s hand to regain my composure. I wiped my mouth and pointed to her backpack. “may I have water?” I requested her and she handed over to me a bottle of water without complaining. Once I finished drinking from the water, I took a deep breath and when I released the breath, I looked at her.

“I don't know what is happening to me," I told her and rubbed my stomach. “I might have eaten something pretty bad and that is why I am like this" I said but then I remembered that I barely had anything to eat for breakfast except the pancake that Miss Donna made for me. “I feel nauseous,” I told her and wanted to throw up again but then something happened, Hallie grabbed my hand and turned me over.

“what is happening to you?" I yelled at her and then I saw that blood started dripping from her mouth. “L.." I muttered as I looked behind her shoulders and I saw that she shot with an arrow. “Hallie” she suddenly went limp in my hand. “what is happening?” I asked her as I stared into her face.

Hallie smiled at me and suddenly began to fall to the ground as her weight felt heavy against mine but I grabbed her before she did and placed her in my arms. “Hallie!” I shouted at her and looked around us wondering who dared to follow us and shot at her. The target was me but she took the hit instead, “why!” I screamed as tears started rolling down my face. “why dic you do something like that?” I asked her.

She coughed out blood and raised her hand to touch my face. ” Because I see the future in you,” she smiled at me. “you already said that you would change the world and I can't wait to see you doing that!” she struggled to laugh.

“I thought that you hated me and you wanted me out of the way so you could become concubine but then you...”

“Lorena!” she yelted at me. “Don't you get it?" she asked me and rolled her eyes. “Everything I am doing is not what the worl needed. You are the one who can liberate the humans from this world that they lived in and I believe that you can do that," she told me.

I placed my head on her chest and burst into tears. I tightened my grip on her arms and screamed out her name. Hallie was going to die and it would all be because of me. It made me wonder who could have been trying so hard to get rid of me and why? First, it was Danielle, now it was Hallie. Why? How could something like this have happened? Those were the questions that I asked myself as I held Hallie in my arms.

“I am not going to allow you to die!” I shouted and cut the hem of my clothes and tied it around her back without removing the arrow then I pulled her up from the ground and headed towards the horse. I felt dizzy at that moment and almost fell to the ground but I didn't give up and was able to place her on the horse” I am going to save you and won't let you die like Danielle!” I told her and the only response was a groan. I wrapped her hands around my waist and I kicked the horse headin back to the Arena.

While galloping back to the Arena, my thoughts went back to the person that had targeted me. I wondered why they suddenly turned back when they could have also attacked me. There was only one reason why the assailant did something like that and it was because their target was me or maybe they knew that they could be discovered if they tried to attack me but regardless making sure Hallie survived was my priority.
