"Well then, I guess I wouldn't need to use this anymore.” Adrian grabbed a bundle of rope hidden just behind the door. Dropping it until it lands with a thud on the floor.

I stared at the thick brown rope before travelling me gaze over to Adrian's amused face. My face white as plain sheet.

"What the fuck, lan?!" Alex jumped in front of him. Grabbing the rope and tossing it far away from me at this point. Letting out a growl that made the walls rumble in the room as he released his dominance warningly.

I stepped back and watched as the two brothers stared down at each other impatiently.

"Won't you fucking relax? It's just a fucking joke!” Adrian raised both of his hands in the air, pretending to submit even if his mouth says otherwise. His face even looked like he was enjoying this as if he's playing some type of game. I stared at him, wondering what could have gotten inside his head.

On the other hand, Alex stood in front of me in a protective stance. Blocking me from Adrian's view completely.

“Don't you ever fucking touch her lan. She’s mine.” He warned. Speaking loud but slowly in an extremely serious tone.

At this point, I could not deny how I felt safe in Alexander's presence. His strong dominating aura allowed me to feel as though I will never get hurt as long as he’s by my side.

Right now, it's exactly how I feel.

“Not for long.” He glanced over Adrian's broad shoulder. Eyeing me before he gave me a wink. Alexander hissed but it did nothing to make Adrian flinch or jump where he stood. I noticed how he was so relentless in pushing his brother to the limits. Clearly, he wasn't afraid of his own Alpha brother.

“What do you mean?” Alex raised his voice.

I peered at Adrian who just shrugged. A smirk evident in his face which I was pretty sure wasn't there before.

He turned on his heel and exited the room. Leaving the both of us stunned with his words as well as behavior.

My heart raced, and I couldn't shrug off this uncomfortable feeling suddenly rising in my chest.

“I'll call someone immediately to help you get dressed.”

I watched as his eyes turned bright gold. Nodding my head, I ripped my eyes off his face and settled on the letter I threw to the bin that day. The threat from my caring father who even bothered to write me after he sold me off to his greatest enemy in the name of peace. Peace that he would certainly take away once the curse sets in me.

I sneered at the thought of hurting Alex. He did nothing wrong to deserve this. He did nothing wrong to deserve what I am about to do to him. To his pack he took over without neither of his parents. And the fact that the reason he suffered all these years was all connected to my family was certainly making it far worse than it already is.

I drew my eyes back towards Alex whose eyes have now returned to their natural color; blue. “Linda will be your handler. She'll be up in two.” He informed.

I nodded and waited for him to make his way out.

“I guess I should head over to my room to change now. Wouldn't want to embarrass my beautiful match at the party.” He chuckled then winked at me. Eyeing me with those piercing blue eyes that could see deep into me, maybe even further.

Suddenly, heat rushed to my face and I smiled, shaking my head at him.

“I rather think it's the other way around.” I said softly. Raising a brow as I looked at his incredibly handsome face. Then looking over his toned, beefy body hugged tightly by his gray shirt tight enough it fit him like a glove.

He chuckled lightly. The sound of his laugh was oddly making me feel all jittery deep inside.

“Can I ask you something?”

I now brought all my attention to him and I nodded at his words.

"What made you want to go to the party?”

Curiosity was evident in the expression on his face. Raising a brow, he straightened and stared at me. I could tell he was highly interested in my reply, but I was yet to conjure the right words to formulate a lie he needed to hear.

“I am your mate, aren't 1?” I forced the words out my mouth, and it seemed to affect his mood positively.

His curious face lightened up then formed a brilliant smile that instantly turned my bones into jelly. I could barely keep my feet on the floor as he flashed me the sexiest smile I've ever seen. Once again, my heart raced. A million times more than it should.

"You've decided.” He said as though he was still consumed by his utter disbelief as he stared at me like I was a dream.

The next thing I know, he pulled me into his arms and hugged me tighter than I could ever imagine possible. I gasped, instantly flailing my arms around his neck and accepting his body against my own.

“I promise you won't regret your decision, Ellie. Thank you.” He whispered softly into my ear.

At that moment, I felt the tight knot in my stomach twist and turn as guilt completely washed over me. His hand trailed down my spine, rubbing small, smooth circles which sent shivers throughout my entire body like sparks of electricity covering my skin.

We stayed that way for minutes that felt like seconds when we pulled apart from each other. Creating a gap between our bodies I loathed at this very moment.

Ares wanted more.

But we both knew the reason why we can't.

He flashed me another breathtaking smile for the last time. And without another word, he left the room, closing the bedroom door with a soft clicking sound and I immediately dropped my knees to the floor. I brought my hands to my face, and started creating soft sobs that echoed slightly across the room.

After tonight, I need to find a way to get myself far away from this pack. Before everything changes and it will all then be too late.

Before I even break Alexander's heart, just like how my father broke him once. Ten whole years ago in that bloody war.

I hurriedly stood up to my feet at the sound of a knock. I went over to the door and opened it slowly, then finding a tall, probably 5'6 feet in height, red-haired woman wearing sharp glasses, tailored coat and skirt, light make up, and a pair of heels about two inches from the ground, standing in front of my bedroom door. She had a small, dark mole embedded above her high cheekbones and dark red lipstick that matched her dark red eyeshadows blended with a little bit of yellow on top. Apart from that, her hair was pulled up tightly into a bun and I could already tell she had extremely long hair judging by the largeness of her bun fixed on top of her head.

Her look was highly professional, but stunning.

The moment she met my eyes, her lips arched upwards, forming a beautiful smile.

“It's my pleasure to meet you, Luna. My name is Linda Grail. I will be helping you prepare for the Royal Winders dinner party as per Alpha’s order.” She spoke softly her voice resembled the sound of a piano playing beautifully in the background

“Nice to meet you, Linda. I'm Eleanor.” I looked up to line my eyes with hers because of our large difference in height. I was small with a curvy body and perky ass, as far as I know. Linda here was tall and sexy, and I couldn't help but wonder why the werewolf genes hadn't hit me the same way with many of the other she-wolves of almost every pack.

Discarding my thoughts, I extended my hand in front of Linda who gladly accepted the handshake. The more I stared at her face, I noticed that she had light gray eyes. It almost made her look like she was blind. I then shrugged, thinking it was probably the natural color of her eyes.

“Come on in."

I invited her inside and she bended first as if to pick up something from the floor. She then walked in confidently, carrying two boxes tied together with a single ribbon. One was large while the other was small but bigger than a regular music box.

I must have been concentrating too much on her face and features that I hadn't noticed those boxes she’s now carrying with her hand.

“What is in those boxes, Linda?" I asked curiously.

Linda turned her head to me and looked at the boxes she just placed on the vanity table against the wall.

"Oh you'll find out soon enough.”

A mischievous smile formed on her lips as she examined my body. I could see the excitement in her pretty face when she started unboxing the items.

Not long after she pulled out an elegant blue cocktail dress that shimmered under the white light with the glass beads beautifully designed to adorn a see-through type top which nicely counterparts its low neck, making it ten times more attractive to the outside world. The dress is sleeveless and a flounce type blue dress that would certainly make anyone fit in perfectly in every party.

I gaped at the dress, dropping my jaw once she held its hanger up into full view.

“It's beautifull” I exclaimed

Her face lit up as she saw me being happy about the stunning dress.

“She is, isn't she? This sexy thing right here is my latest design. It's the first of its kind.” She mused proudly. Smiling as she smoothed the dress with her one hand.

I looked at her in awe.

“You designed this?”

She nodded, smiling lightly at me as she took a step forward towards me.

“I did.” She admitted.

“I want to say you're very talented.”

“Thanks. Now ready to try her on?” She lent the dress to me and I nodded happily.

I'm not going to lie, I've always had a passion for fashion when I was still a kid. I was even planning to convince my parents to go to uni and take a course related to designing there.

Unfortunately, life had other plans for me. The moment I shifted on my 13th birthday, I was immediately deprived of pursuing what I wanted. Since the day everyone in the pack turned their backs on me thinking I was born a human girl.

Sighing to myself, I headed to the walk-in closet and started stripping off my clothes.
