Chapter 7

“You look tired,” Dawson said to Alexis as soon as he saw her exiting the hospital.

Alexis, who was lost in her own thoughts, raised her gaze and smiled at him

“Some days just get a little hectic. She hid the fact that she met that one man she was dreading seeing when she heard that she had to be shifted here for her internship program if she wanted to apply for the doctor’s research program in the States and advance her experience.

Without wasting another second since she was afraid of facing that Alpha again. Alexis quickly got into the car, unintentionally dodging Dawson’s hug in the process, who had extended his hands for her.

Dawson could see something was wrong with her.

Usually, when she would meet him, she would be full of life and tell him everything about what kind of patients she met or if something funny happened, but she was awfully quiet and distracted today.

After driving for some time, Dawson took her to one of the posh restaurants in the area.

Alexis raised her brows at him. She wasn’t expecting him to take her to any restaurant. She thought he was taking her home or probably to the council.

“Hear me out first. I was asked to check the food of this restaurant and see if it was a good place to hold the council’s event. Help me a little. Two opinions are better than one, no?” Dawson replied.

Alexis rolled her eyes.

“Are you sure this isn’t a way for you to bring me out to dine and call it a date?” She fake–scowled and the man chuckled.

She could see a little red tint on his cheeks and a smile appeared on her face as they took one of the VIP tables near the balcony with the best view.

“Have you been able to contact your wolf? Is she back?” Dawson asked after a drawn–out silence.

Alexis looked at her friend and sighed.

That night when her life changed completely and she had thought that she lost everything along with her wolf because of half transition, she was wrong.

She had actually found her wolf. Her wolf was called Selene. It was a normal wolf or that was what she wanted to believe until the council saw the color of her fur.

She had transitioned into her wolf for the first time when she was on the run the same night to ease the pain in her chest and she had only seen herself in the lake water.

Alexis thought it was a normal brown color, but her wolf was actually golden. It was the strangest color that she had

ever seen

It wasn’t unknown that the more rare your fur color is, the more danger you possess, and thus, her father hid the fact from everyone that she found her wolf.

No one apart from the main Council members and her best friend knew about her wolf.

Even though she had found her wolf, strangely, from the moment she entered this Moon Sins area, her wolf stopped talking to her.

It was almost as if she was angry about something.

“Alexis? Come back to Earth, will you?” Dawson shook her hand, bringing her out of her thoughts, and she smiled. awkwardly.

“Sorry. What were you saying?” She asked.

Dawson looked at the girl in front of him with mixed emotions. Though he didn’t know what exactly happened in the hospital, he had seen Alpha Augustus’s car outside the hospital and if his premonition was right, they probably even met each other.

Alexis doesn’t like talking about it, but he heard from her father that the man destroyed the happiness and love his daughter held in her heart.

“Why don’t you

order some food?” Dawson said and was about to call the waiter when his phone rang and he excused himself from the table.

As soon as Dawson left, Alexis dropped the forced smile on her face and looked at the menu in front of her.

She hadn’t thought it would affect her that badly.

She always thought that after rejecting the bond, she would be free from the guilt and pain. But who would’ve thought it would still hurt so badly after all those years?

Time heals your pain. That’s what her father told her. Then why the hell was it still hurting her?

Alexis’s eyes brimmed with tears as she remembered how her ex–husband was holding Marianna when he brought her to the hospital. It was the same way he was holding her that night too. That night when she felt she would bleed to death and almost got r*ped.

A mocking smile appeared on her face. Even after all this time, Augustus’s habit of having things his way hasn’t changed.

He didn’t even bother to ask her if she was alright or what she went through that night. After all, he must’ve seen that blood.

Then again, wasn’t it her husband only who was behind that attack? That’s what those goons said, no? And why would they lie to her?

Alexis blinked her tears away, wanting to forget about the man who never thought about her even once in their two years of marriage.

He didn’t deserve her tears or her thoughts.

She raised her hand to call the waiter when she suddenly heard the cacophonic voice of one person she didn’t want to hear.  Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Augustus, is that Alexis?”

Alexis closed her eyes and clenched her fists when she heard her name being called.

Augustus, who was busy talking to his beta over the call about the meeting that got delayed because he had to take Marianna to the hospital, immediately paused in his steps when he heard Alexis’s name.

He looked at the girl, who was pretending to be looking at the menu and he gritted his teeth.

What was she doing here

Alexis, hey, we didn’t know you would be dining here too. Would you like to join us?” Marianna asked in an innocent

Alexis raised her head and looked between Augustus and Marianna, all the emotions she was feeling carlier, buried deep inside her as disgust clouded her mind.

This was the reason he left her that night and got her attacked. So he could take her to fancy dinners and show her the love of the world, no

“I am good,” Alexis said in a neutral voice, the contempt in her eyes a bit too obvious.

“I know you probably have some misunderstandings with Alpha Augustus, Alexis, but there is nothing that can’t be solved by talking. Maybe you guys should talk – Marianna started speaking, pausing when Alexis raised her hand. call a waiter to take her order.

“Thank you for your concern, but I am line, Alexis forced a fake smile on her face.

There was no way she would let these people bask in the glory of her miseries.

Marianna looked at Alexis helplessly when she saw her unyielding attitude. She looked at the alpha beside her, who was obviously becoming angry.

“I… at least let me treat you to this dinner for treating me when my doctor wasn’t there?” Marianna tried again

Alexis sighed and looked at the girl.

“Miss Marianna, can you see that I am trying to have lunch in peace after having some hectic time? Besides, I don’t have any interest in dining with you guys,” Alexis said

Faced with her calm attitude, Augustus stepped ahead and placed his hands on her table, almost caging her.

“Do you really think you can pretend in front of me, Alexis? If you didn’t want to dine with us or wanted to show us this attitude, why and how the hell did you appear here right at the time when we came to dine today? I can understand about the hospital but here too? I think we both know that two times can’t be a coincidence,” Augustus said.

His words reminded her about the times when she really used to stalk him because she wanted to know where he was all the time and if he wasn’t cheating on her.

She was really foolish all those times.

Alexis smiled bitterly.

“I have no time or intention to stalk anyone. I am here to dine with someone Alexis looked at Marianna before standing to create some distance between herself and Augustus that was bothering her.

“I have accepted your gratitude. Please take your man away from my table,” Alexis said, her words enraging Augustus once again.

However, before he could respond, Dawson, who had gone to attend to an important call from Council’s Soldiers team, returned and he looked at the man in front of him with raised brows

“Alpha Augustus,” Dawson said, his gaze shifting to his friend, who didn’t look too comfortable.

“Alpha Dawson,” Augustus nodded back, noticing how Dawson’s gaze was focused on his mate.

Chapter 7

“Lexi, are you okay? You look a bit pale,” Dawson stepped ahead and placed his hand in the middle of her back, and Augustus’s wolf immediately whimpered lowly when he saw some other Alpha touching what belonged to him.

Mine, His wolf whimpered and Augustus gritted his teeth.
