Chapter 9 

Crystal’s P.O.V. (Continued) 

I stopped in my tracks and looked at him coldly. He was shocked to see my expression. We recognized each other as mates for less than three hours, and he started bossing me. I took a step towards him while looking straight into his eyes. “Listen, Mr Theo Blakefield, and listen to me very carefully. I am your mate, not your slave.. so don’t try to order me again,” I said to him in a firm and angry tone while poking my finger at his chest. His eyes went cold, and he clenched his jaw hard while keeping our gaze locked. 

I took a step backwards, still looking at him coldly. Mate or not, he was not allowed to show any disrespect to me. I yanked my hand harshly from his grip and stormed upstairs. 

“Crystal” I heard him yelling behind me, but I increased my pace. He was an alpha, but I am also a beta wolf. I could hear his heavy footsteps behind me, but I didn’t stop. 

“Let me out,” Luna demanded, but I refused her request. “Not now,” I muttered angrily, making her snarl at me angrily. She was more short–tempered than me and it could worsen the situation more than it already was. No one here, not even Aunt Sylvia knew about Luna, and I had no intention of letting anyone know about her. Theo had to understand that I love my self–respect more than anything else in this world. I am his mate, not his slave, whom he could order anytime. Before I could reach my room, I yelped in fear when he suddenly scooped me in the air from behind and the next second, I was pinned to the wall next to the door of my room. 

He put one hand behind my head, saving my head from colliding with the wall, and wrapped the other hand around my waist. He put all his weight on me while breathing heavily. I could tell that he was trying hard to control his anger. “Listen to me, princess. and listen to me carefully,” he said to me in a cold tone through his teeth. 

“You will not show any disrespect to me. I am not only your mate but soon to be your alpha,” he continued and I scoffed angrily. 

“So it gives you the right to make me feel that I am lower than you, and have to obey your commands, huh?” I asked him in an angry tone. His grip on the back of my head tightened immediately, but I didn’t lower my eyes and stood my ground. I was now breathing heavily due to my anger. Luna was no help to me right now, as she was also fuming in anger. If we were going to work together, then he had to treat me as his equal, or else I wouldn’t have any problem with accepting his rejection. 

“I am with you on this, girl. We are no less than him, and he has to give respect to our freedom too,” Luna supported me too and this was enough to hold on to my resolution. I felt hurt by the way he was treating me now. It was not the first time that we fought, but this time, his words really hurt badly. Everyone in the pack and in our family- knew about our bickering on almost everything, and still, we loved each other so much. But this was the first fight after we recognized each other as mates, and I could deny that it was hurting badly. We both kept on staring at each other for a while and I refused to lower my eyes because I was right. 

Suddenly he leaned towards me, making me move my head backwards. I pushed him harder when I realized what he was going to do. I saw hurt in his eyes but it didn’t affect me. 

“We are still not sure if we stay in this relationship or not, Theo. So, it will be better if we don’t do anything that we regret later,” I said in a calm and stern voice. He was now standing a little away from me, giving me the space to breath properly. “I told you that I am not going to reject you, he gritted his teeth, and I glared hard at him. 

“I also don’t want to bear the pain of rejection, Theo. But…the… the way you are treating me now… I… I think… we should wait for our elders to decide what we need to do,” I answered him in an aggressive tone. 

He didn’t say a word again but kept on staring at me with a hurtful gaze. Suddenly, he approached me again and pulled me into his embrace. The sparks made my b*dy go relaxed in his embrace. He hid his face in the crook of my n*eck, I sighed while wrapping my hands around his torso. He was still breathing heavily, but he didn’t say anything for a good minute. 

“Don’t ever… Ever think about rejection again, princess. I am not going to reject you at any cost, and will not let you reject me either. You are a blessing given to me by the Moon Goddess. I don’t know what I am going to do, but I am not rejecting you. I will find a way to be with you,” my heart skipped a beat when he tried to comfort me in an anxious tone and also asked me not to think about rejection. 

“But you have to treat me as your equal, Theo,” I demanded in a low tone while holding him tightly by his waist. “I will…! promise,” he answered me and I took a breath of relief. “He better be,” Luna demanded at the back of my mind and then retreated back. We stayed in the same position for some more time. It was really comforting, and I relaxed in his embrace. He lightened his grip on my waist while taking a few sharp breaths. 

He slowly released me from his embrace. “Go and freshen up… I will meet you in the next ten minutes, he said to me in at low tone while stroking my cheek with his thumb. I nodded and then we both parted away. I once again missed his warmth but I had to stay stronger. “Crystal,” I stopped at the door when he called me. I looked at him questioningly. He was at the door of his door. 

“You shifted on your birthday, right?” he asked me and I pursed my l*ps into a thin line. Tell him… I don’t know why but i have this feeling that we can trust him with our secret. He didn’t ask about your shifting and announced without any hesitation that he is our mate, and he is not going to reject us. he needs to know,” Luna commanded me this time. “No, Theo… I didn’t shift on my birthday,” I answered him in a calm tone. He raised his brows in surprise. “But you have your wolf. Both I and Thunder can sense her,” he said in a surprised and confused tone. I gulped hard and nodded to confirm him that he was right about Luna. 

“I shifted before my sixteenth birthday for the first time,” I told him in a calm tone and his eyes widened in shock. “Remember the rogue attack that almost destroyed my pack?” I asked him further, and he immediately nodded while looking at me with the same gaze. 

“I shifted at that time to save my classmates from rogues. After that, Alpha Adrian put a command over me and my wolf, not to shift in front of anyone. I… I can shift only in his presence or in my father’s presence until my eighteenth birthday. T was so exhausted that day that Luna, my wolf, refused to shift,” I told him everything truthfully in a very low tone. I knew that he could hear me due to our wolf’s hearing, but I didn’t want anyone to hear about this. 

“Your wolf… sh… she refused to shift?” he asked me in a shocked tone, and I nodded in agreement while pursing my l*ps. “And why did Alpha Adrian not want you to shift in front of others?” he asked me further, and I took a deep breath. I recalled what my father and Alpha Adrian told me about Luna. 

“Dad said th.. that Luna is special and shifting in front of others can put us in danger,” I told him what my dad told me truthfully. He was about to ask me something when my stomach growled aloud. I smiled sheepishly in embarrassment. “Let’s talk about this later. Go and freshen up first.” he smiled and instructed me again. I nodded and entered the room. I took a deep breath and leaned against the door after closing it. Everything around me was completely a mess, and I was now too exhausted to deal with it. 

I entered the room and went straight to bed. I threw myself onto the bed on my back and closed my eyes. I was so exhausted and sleepy, but I was hungry too. I didn’t know what fate had in store for me, but I needed to brace myself for the worst. 

“Theo’s wolf is trying to contact me….. I… I don’t know what to do,” Luna said in a sad tone, making me sigh helplessly too. “I don’t know what to do, Luna. I am really confused, scared and exhausted,” I answered her honestly. 

“I really liked Theo until he pissed me off,” she whined again, making me smile at her this time. He was always overprotective towards me, Luna. And now, with the mate bond, he has become overbearing. But, I trailed off and took a deep breath. 

“I am sure that he will understand us, and,” I trailed off and my smile faded when the realization hit me hard/We still didn’t know if the rules of our world would let us stay mates with each other. “Don’t think too much, girl….. we are together in everything. The Moon Goddess never made a mistake, and I am sure that she has chosen Theo as our mate for some reason,” she comforted me, making me smile again. 

“I love you, Luna,” I said to her and she snorted while shaking her head. “I love you too, my human…. Now get up and freshen up. I am really hungry,” she answered me in a light tone, and then ushered me to stand up.

s your wish, my grace,” I said in a teasing tone, and she lifted her snout higher in the air. We both then laughed together and I sat up on the bed. I got off and went to the washroom. I stopped in my tracks when I remembered something. I immediately went towards the other door to the bathroom. I locked it and I smirked. Theo had a habit to sneaking into my room late at night. There was no way that I would let him come closer to me until we resolved the matter. 

I smiled and then walked towards the bathroom while jumping happily. If he thought that he could control me then he really underestimated me.
