Steven’s Mate

A couple of weeks later, they got a call from Alpha Shelby Lynx telling them that some rogues, including vampires, were on their way to attack several packs, including theirs, and they needed to go into hiding so they were not wiped out.

Ramiel got his people into safety far away from their homes and left a couple of his lead warriors to scare them off. Others would be around in their secret hiding places but would only come out if they had to. The wolves were not the only ones to hide their scents, and they did just that.

When Wade’s two partners showed up with some of the rogues, Duke and Garrett stayed hidden behind, and when they saw them approaching the homestead, they changed into their bears and stood on their hind legs growling.

When Norric and Henry heard the growls, they stopped moving, looking to see where the noise was coming from. The other rogues were still in their human forms, nearly shitting themselves, when they saw two polar bears running towards them with their claws extended.

Steven tore through half the rogues, and Garrett did the same quickly. They caught one of the vamps, tore his arm off, and severely hurt his leg. They both took off, but one had to carry the other to safety. They vowed never to attack a bear pack again, fearing they would not survive the next one.

Ramiel called Alpha Tristen, letting him know what had happened and that they were all safe with no lives lost from the pack. But those lost were the rogues and part of a vampire. So, they can only worry about what will happen once they hear from the Elders about their trials if they have them.

Most of the new homes have been finished, Lane and her new team put the final additions on them, and their guests were excited to have their own space. They appreciated their host families but loved to have privacy since bears are more of loaners or do not have to live in a pack.

Afterward, she followed him home and stopped before Ramiel’s house. He had called, letting him know he was bringing someone but wanted him and Lane to meet this person.

They walked up to the door, and Ramiel opened it before Steven knocked. He smiled at his warrior and welcomed them into his home. He guided them to the living room and told them he would get Lane as she was finishing in the bedroom.

“No problem; where is Garrett? I want to see my brother too.”

“I already link him, and he is on his way.”

Garrett walked in and saw his sister for the first time in years. They hugged, shared a knowing look, and walked to their seats. Lane went to the kitchen, retrieved some snacks and drinks, and brought them to the living room.

“Please help yourselves. These will tie us over until lunchtime. So how did you and my brother meet?”

“We met in Maine on vacation, and Dad decided to stay and live there. Garrett was sent to school with me until I left after graduation and went to college.”

They talked about what they all did for a living and how long Steven and she knew they were mates. Why have they just joined together? All the questions got answered, and she was accepted into the pack.

Steven and Gabriel said their goodbyes when lunch was over, headed to his home, and helped his mate unpack her clothes and other items. Once she was settled, he took her in his arms and kissed her as he licked her lips for entrance.
