Gwendolyn cut him off, eager to change the subject.
“Fine by me.” replied Valor.
The acupuncture session was set up in one of the second–floor guest rooms, fully equipped for the treatment.
They made their way upstairs via the in–house elevator.
Valor was attentively pushing Howard’s wheelchair.
Once in the room, Valor nonchalantly stripped down to his boxer briefs before Gwendolyn could protest. He sprawled out on the massage table with practiced ease.
“Let’s get this show on the road, angel. Stick it to me.”
His skin was pale, the kind that hadn’t seen much hardship or manual labor.
Howard shot him a chilly glance, grabbed a towel, and tossed it over him. “Gwendolyn, I’ll
do it.”
“You’re trying to kill me!” Valor yelped at the thought.
Gwendolyn bit her lip, smiling as her eyes crinkled at the corners.
“I’ve got it.”
She opened her medical kit and pulled out a set of golden needles. After sanitizing them, her fingers deftly searched for the right points on Valor’s back and quickly inserted the needles.
Howard was icy, fixed on Valor’s exposed skin. Valor felt a chill.
Gwendolyn patted his shoulder, “Relax.”
Valor obediently lay there, his mind already wandering to future pleasures.
He did the math aloud, “Those condoms should last me eight years or so.”
Gwendolyn didn’t get how he could calculate so precisely.
Howard snorted. He was about to say something when his phone vibrated.
Seeing the caller ID, he immediately hung up and turned off his phone.
Peace at last.
Soon enough, Marina knocked on the door, “Howard, there’s an international call for you.”
“Hang up.” Howard was firm.
“I’ve hung up several times,” Marina replied helplessly, “but she keeps calling, and she’s

Howard darkened his expression as he maneuvered his wheelchair out of the room.
Gwendolyn was curious. The bizarre calls Howard had been getting lately were too frequent.
“Hey,” Valor piped up, drawing her attention, “You and Howard have been married for a while now, haven’t you? Have you ever… you know, because if he is impotent, it must be tough for you.”
Gwendolyn blushed.
“Don’t be shy. Marital bliss is the best way to strengthen a bond, especially for an
arranged match like yours.”

Valor suggested slyly, “You could visit Nathan sometime. He has a lot of interesting items. Sometimes, Howard doesn’t have to use his dick… you know what I mean.”
She didn’t want to know! Gwendolyn removed a needle and jabbed it into his body to mute him.
“Lie still. No more talking.”
Valor opened his mouth to protest but resigned himself to silence. He just didn’t want Gwendolyn getting the short end of the stick.
With Howard’s rising star, no doubt a bevy of calculating beauties would be circling.
At Bayridge Hospital.
Bainbridge, clutching a takeout bag from the diner, trudged down the corridor. Dark thoughts clouded his eyes, bitterness brewing within.
Warren refused to give him his rightful shares, offering only a nominal vice presidency, and the company folks didn’t take him seriously.
Even Vivien was getting uppity, but luckily she was pregnant now, making it harder for her to jump ship.
Bainbridge hoped Warren would come to see the light. He was the most loyal, after all.
Reaching room 2108, he found the door ajar.
Familiar voices carried from within, and surprise flickered across his face.
He peeked through the gap and indeed!
He stood at the threshold, not entering, intent on eavesdropping.
