“Bitch!”

Vivien’s makeup was smeared, her fury igniting at the sight of Fanny in her silky spaghetti strap dress, her body marked with the evidence of n wild night.

“You two faced snake! Can’t keep your word? Are you that desperate for men that you can’t stay away from Bainbridge?” She glared at Fanny “Where is Bainbridge?”

Fanny, the hand on her reddened cheek, spat back coldly. “He’s passed out drunk.”

Vivien, skeptical pushed past her and stored inside

There he was, sprawled on the bed, stark naked and dead to the world with empty wine bottles and spills on the sheets. It was a clear picture of a night spent with Fanny

“Bainbridge! Wake up!” She shook him roughly.

“Wake up!” in a fury, she dashed to the bathroom, returning with a basin of cold water to douse him.

Bainbridge groaned and blinked awake. “What the hell!” Bloodshot eyes glared at Vivien.

“Tell me, is it true your dad got busted? Are the rumors about you poisoning your granddad and getting kicked out true?” She couldn’t believe she’d chosen such a vile loser!

Utterly useless!

“Vivien, you’re locking down on me? What gives you the right!”

Bainbridge staggered to his feet, seizing her collar as he cursed, “It’s all because of you that I’m in this mess! If it weren’t for your stunt with Gwendolyn, the country bumpkin, Howard’s legs wouldn’t have healed! Vivien, you’re a jinx”

Bainbridge spat venomously

Vivien retorted with fury. “It’s because you can’t measure up to Howard! I must have been blind to choose you!”

if only she hadn’t arranged for Gwendolyn to take her place/

Hating that line more than any other, Bainbridge flew his hand across her face.

“Say it again, I dare you!”

“I willl”

Bainbridge had no pity for her

Nor did Vivien back down. They tussled furiously until weakened by drink, Bainbridge was pinned to the ground. But Vivien didn’t come out on top either. Hair disheveled, she stood, glaring at Fanny, who was enjoying the show.

“I misjudged you both”

Betrayal coursed through Vivien.

Fanny sneered, “Pity. You could’ve married Howard but you

ward but you blew it. If I were you, I’d snatch him back”

Adding fuel to the fire, she said, “I ain’t the reason for your sad song, it’s Gwendolyn. With or without your say, you would’ve been hitched to Howard, if not for her”

Vivien felt as if she was under a spell, brainwashed by those words.

Vivien, you gotta get to Gwendolyn!” Fanny’s words were like a siren’s call.

“Fanny, trash like Bainbridge is perfect for a dumpster like you.”

Vivien stormed out of the hotel room, feeling more wronged with every step.

She drove from the underground car park, crying all the way back to her home, her eyes swollen.

Upon seeing Herman sitting in the living room, she could no longer hold back the tears.
