“She regretted showing up tonight and upsetting you,” Gwendolyn repeated Selina’s words.
Howard had no reaction.
“Do you want to call her back?” Gwendolyn peered up at him.
“Do you want me to return the call?”
Howard turned around, his pale chest muscles directly in her line of sight.
Gwendolyn found it quite blinding.
“What if she needs you?” she reluctantly said, even though women sometimes said the opposite of what they feel.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and said, “Your right hand isn’t healed yet, let me do the scrubbing.”

Gwendolyn didn’t even get a chance to voice her protest. As for the phone left on the coffee table, Howard didn’t touch it all night.

Marina finally unlocked the door just before dawn.
Upon rising. Gwendolyn was whisked away to Enoch’s office for proper treatment.
