KASSIDY

__________

I’m honestly stunned right now. She said that I had to look for my mate. How in the hell can a wolf without a wolf have a mate? It was just crazy to think about.

I died, became one with my wolf into one being, and now am going to search for my mate.

I mean, where do I even begin to look?

It’s not like he’ll pop up like, ‘Oh hey Kassidy, I’m your mate!’ I could only guess what he’ll be like.

Is he a complete and utter asshole like any other person in the world?

Let’s just hope he’s not of high rank, because if he is. . .

I’m in deep shit.

After dwelling in my own mind for what seemed like hours, Solanis pulled me out my thoughts. With a punch to the center of my chest. The wind was literally knocked out of me. I couldn’t breath even if I wanted to, which I do.

She looked down at me and held her outstretched hands. I gave her a skeptical glare, then took her outstretched hand.

Once on my feet again, I dusted myself off. Solanis gave me a glance with an indecipherable feeling in her eyes.

Then began speaking. “Your time with me is coming to an end my sweet child. I’m afraid I’ll have to send you back to reality soon,” she smiled sadly at her words.

“Why? I just barely learned how to even comprehend any of the information you’ve given me in the past few hours.” I know that it was while since I had been here with her.

Who knows how long time had passed since I’ve been here.

“I need more time with you, Solanis. I’m not ready for the living world just yet.” I whined to her.

I know I sound like a little kid, but come on.

I just died.

I think?

I haven’t had any internet access in such a long time.

I think I’m gonna loose it.

“Don’t worry my sweet child, he will be the light to your night. Remember, you can upon me but, I only advise not take action. Do you understand my words, my sweet?” I let the words sink in my head.

Then she spoke again. “He will be the only person who would be able to be able to tame, and lock your new powers. But only temporarily, if you loose control. And you for him. Both of you are very special in this plain and many others, no other being is like you Kassidy. Take heed of the words I’m giving you, and I’ll always be there for you my sweet child,” and with that I felt dread.

I truly wasn’t ready.

__________

Sometime later. . .

I was surrounded by darkness. The smell of Earth was suffocating me. The only feelings that I have in my mind and body at this point. A shot of pain washed over my body, a majority in my chest and abdomen.

The place that shadow had stabbed me. I thought to myself, but as quickly as the pain came, it vanished. Must be the new powers I’ve got. Realizing my surroundings, I smell dirt.

And lots of it.

I’m in my grave.

“Hey! Can anyone hear me?!” I screamed and bang my hands on the fabric of the inside of my coffin.

The panic in my chest grows more and more, to the point where I feel my body heating from all my squirming.

Then something happens...

The heat grows more and more in my body, coursing to my hands. My body’s humming to life as if unlocking something new within.

Then I see them.

Then I feel them.

Flames bursting so vigorously from my hands like a mini version of a forest fire in the coffin.

It burns through the coffin in an instant, leaving only pounds and pounds of dirt in its wake.

With my hands still spurting heavy amounts of flames, I push the remaining pieces of burnt wood from my body and push my hands to the dirt.

Clawing at it until it begins to turn into small particles. I can already taste the surface on the tips of my blazed fingertips as I near it.

Home...

The aroma of spring air and dewy grass huts my nostrils like never before.

As a werewolf, my senses were already heightened, but now their just unbelievable.

I can smell everything in the distances far away from me.

From the familiar smell of exhaust, to the bakery on the other side of town.

The low hum of a vacuum cleaner sounded nearby.

I guess being a revolutionary definitely has its perks.

I climb my way out the massive hole my flames hands caused.

Sensing another wolf nearby, my head immediately snaps to the right if me to see an older man in his fifties carrying a towel in his hands, walking slowly in his blue cleaning suit and clearing the leaves away from people’s gravestones.

He looks up at me as if sending me too and screams out bloody murder.

“Oh my goddess.” He dropped his leaf blower to the ground with a thud. He visibly shakes as his abrupt fear takes over his body.

“Wait, sir, please calm down!” I slowly put my hands in the air as a gesture of surrender and I meant no harm.

I gave him a small nervous smile, because in all reality, if I would’ve seen someone I knew was dead and cake back to life, I would’ve shit myself.

He looks around, slowly looking me over, trying to find something threatening to him.

Then, he walks over to me taking apprehensive steps.

“H-how?” He gives me a look.

Confusion, sadness, and fear crossed his features all at once.

“What happened? How are you back?” The man asked. I didn’t answer him at first, so he took that as a reason to keep talking. “You know people are worried about you, right? Your family?” He asked.

I feel my eyes swell with unshed tears at the thought of my friends and family.

Did they really miss me as much as I missed them?

“How long have I been dead ?” My throat still aches from being dead.

I know I was with Solanis for a while, two weeks should be the max.

I hope.

He looks up into my eyes, he was hesitating to answer, but did anyway.

I looked him over some more and my eyes caught a flickering of color surrounding him.

An aura of sorts.

It was a dark blueish color and it reminded me of a deep sadness.

The man spoke up again,“Seven months.” He closes his eyes and shook his head. “You’ve changed. I can see it in your eyes, the universe shining through them. Your strong, astonishingly so.” He humorlessly laughs and shakes his head unbelieving the sight of me.

Do I look that bad?

“Where can I find a mirror close by? I can’t walk around looking like a corpse all day.” I try to joke with him.

He give me a sad smile and walks towards me, cowering away from me.

The height difference isn’t much, I’m not tall, but I’m not short either, I’m average.

Like 5′5.

He takes my hand in his hesitantly, and pulls me away into the graveyard’s work building.

“There’s a bathroom straight down the hall n the left , I’ll be here when your done sweetheart.” He says pointing inside the gloomy looking building.

I look around, the cracked creamy tile placed along the floors. White walls with wood covering them halfway down, and small office-like rooms scattered along the sides of the hall.

Finally, I made my way to the restroom. I stepped in and came face to face with a rather disturbing sight.

Is that me?

My dark drown hair filled with tangles and dirt, a navy blue dress angling loosely on my body. My face looked a dull blueish purple from being dead, my eyes held so much in them. They weren’t the same blues I left behind, no, they held a new aura in them.

Dark blue around the edges, a galaxy greenish blue with specks of pale yellow in between. My curves had gotten a bit fuller since the last time I seen myself.

Hehe nice.

I reached over and grabbed a few sheets of paper towel from the dispenser, turned the sink nozzle, and pumped soap into the paper towel and harshly scrubbed my face. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the Findɴovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

My arms and legs were next, then the rest of my body.

The older man, who’s name I found out was Theo, was nice enough to take me to his home until I was ready to go to my own home. His wife was a bit shaken seeing me as well, but for some reason they both had slightly cowered in my presence. People only do that to Alphas and higher ranked wolves.

But then again...

I’m higher than they’ll ever be I guess.

Theo’s wife’s, Helena, she was nice enough to make me dinner and gave me the couch to sleep on. She even gave me some of her daughter’s old clothing since she had moved out.

They fit surprisingly well.

I had taken a shower and laid down thinking of Mom, Dad, Kassandra, Anais, and Jordan too.

I miss them so much.

Seven months is a real long time to be away from them. The longest I’ve ever stayed away was going to summer camp.

That lasted a weekend due to my violence on another camper.

I told him not to touch my nuggets. I may, or may not have punched him in the mouth and in the ‘no, no square’.

Back to more pressing matters, my mate.

The one I’ve been not wanting to find so soon.

My light. . .
