Chapter 121

With Stephen backing her up, Matilda stood her ground, unyieldingly dragging Mikayla out of the office

Jerome, please don’t take the divorce seriously. Mikayla’s always this impulsive. We’ll teach her a lesson once we get back,Stephen rambled anxiously

Jerome glanced over at Mikayla, who looked visibly annoyed. Stephen, I hope it’s not a hassle. I wouldn’t have put up with her if it weren’t for Grandma’s sake. I didn’t want her to worry.”

Of course it’s not a hassle!Stephen exclaimed. “Mrs. Miller Senior has always been fond of Kay. Please  Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

bear with her for Mrs. Miller Senior’s sake!” Along with his wife, he jostled Mikayla out of the office

Jerome’s gaze drifted past the paper shreds in the trash can. Straightening his impeccably neat suit, he strode toward the meeting room.

Palpable tension hung in the car. Stephen and Matilda looked sullen, attempting their best to hold back their rage. Mikayla sat at the back with Matilda pressing against her, looking particularly vigilant as if she

was worried that Mikayla would escape halfway through their journey.

Mikayla was awash in frustration. She toiled to obtain the divorce agreement, but everything happened in

a blur, and she barely had time to react. Judging by their stance, she could tell Stephen and Matilda

weren’t going to let her off the hook easily.

When she was a child, she lived with Eduard and Eliana. Stephen stayed in an affluent area; he didn’t live

with them. On occasion, he returned to join them for meals, discussing his work as he did so. He wasn’t

particularly affectionate toward her, so she wasn’t close with him.

Stephen was still Eduard’s son, though. He was in charge of the family business, and Mikayla couldn’t just treat him like a stranger and get him to stop meddling. Now that they decided to bring up her divorce to Eduard, she had to brace herself to overcome this obstacle. As for the divorce agreement, she could only

brazenly ask Jerome to sign it again.

Mikayla propped her head against the car window as she took a nap. After an hour, the car eventually stopped at the Davidson residence. She meant to find Eduard before they could, but Matilda stopped her. “We’ll go in together!”

She was speechless.

The driver opened the door for them. Mikayla, stuck between Stephen and Matilda, stumbled into the living room. Eduard was playing chess with their driver, Wyatt when he saw them. He was slightly stunned. What brings you here?Striding toward them, Wyatt greeted them with a smile.

Irritated, Stephen plopped onto the chair opposite Eduard. “Ask your dear granddaughter why. Ask her

what she did!Matilda ushered the maid to bring tea, and she took a seat as well

Kay, what’s wrong? Eduard asked, concern evident in his tone. Mikayla’s eyes stung when she saw the

same helpless yet loving look strewn across his face whenever she got into trouble when she was young

Grandpa Mikayla choked back an unexpected lump welling up in her throat.

Kay, why are you crying? What happened?Eduard hastily inquired as he shot a scathing glare at Stephen. Stephen, did you hurt her?”

Eduard, you’re so biased! You just assumed Stephen hurt her when you don’t even know what happened,Matilda interrupted. “In fact, this has nothing to do with us. It’s your dear Kayshe’s filing for a divorce!”
