The sound of kids playing echoed thru the air. The smoky aroma of burgers and sausages on the barbeque spread thru the air.
For a moment everything seemed so carefree and joyful. But it was not to last.
At the strike of two o clock, everything and everyone froze. Time stood still. The book started to glow in a ghostly blue as it floated out of Kiki’s pocket, up into the air, as if floating in the ocean. It flew open and a dark, cloud started to pour out. The sound of rumbling, promising a vicious thunderstorm started. A huge bang that shook the earth erupted, followed by a spider web of lightning. It spread out and started to strike the guests one by one.
Kiki was first. She was surrounded by a blinding white light and in a flash, she was gone. All that was left was a smoking burned spot of grass. Next was Geordie then Ada, Claire, Ethan, Ben and Victoria. And just as quickly as it began, it ended.
Leaving, in their midst, stunned guests, frantic parents, and an unexplainable event, for their neighbourhood to try to unravel.
