The argument between Ronald and John wasn’t surprising at all. It was a natural result of the men they lost in the battles before, and John publicly criticized some of Ronald’s orders, like being too late to give missile launchers the green light to fire.
Ronald couldn’t do or say anything back because John had so many voices to support him. Kate was watching the situation from a distance realizing that the relationship between Ronald and the people inside the base has broken. Ronald has disappointed them so many times by a horribly wrong decisions that gives impression that someone has helped to climb his way up in the military.
“You are nothing but a weak link” said John and turned his back to Ronald like boxer who knocked out his opponent. Kate knew this conflict is not good at a hard time like this.
She ran behind him: John wait.
But he didn’t listen to her and kept walking away. “John, what you said now was no good”
“Look around you…look how much we are suffering…you okay with that? We could’ve just avoid all of that with some good decisions”
Despite her will to calm things down but John had a point; Major Ronald screwed up.
Kate silenced for a moments before she said: what happened is happened you can’t back in time, huh? These aliens are very strong anyway, so let us to concentrate on what we have now.
“Alright, what do want me to do now? Apologize to him?” said John with angry tone
“Yes”
For some reason John remembered the day he was buried under rubble. “We are dead anyway” John thought.
“Alright, I’ll go talk to him” said John after he buried his pride.
Major Ronald has walked few steps away when John called him: Major, I’m sorry…seeing all this death...is just something I couldn’t handle.
Major Ronald smiled at him: no need to your apologize…you’re right I’ve screwed up, I’ve caused all of this so nothing matters anymore. Said Ronald and walked away.
