When Dean arrived in one of the many library’s of his mansion, he didn’t expect to see Davina straddling Marina’s waist with a knife pressed to her throat. He took notice to the rip now in the front of her dress and her shoes scattered along the floor. Marina’s hair was everywhere and her dress looked out of place as well. He wasn’t sure if Marina just wanted to get his attention, or if she actually felt in danger. He had always known Marina wasn’t one of the strongest beasts, though he’d never say it to her face. Catrice, Jackson, and Charlie had finally arrived to the scene. Charlie stood with his arms crossed, laughing at the situation. Never did he think he’d see a human overpowering a beast in his lifetime. Catrice looked annoyed. She had been looking everywhere for her. Catrice wondered if she had been here the entire time. Jackson stood idly by though he was intrigued.

“What the hell are you doing?! Why haven’t you left with the organization yet?” Dean asked.

“I tried leaving! The damn place is too big. Couldn’t find any exit. I finally stumbled across this room and tried finding an exit in here when this bitch came running in and tried attacking me.” Davina said exasperatedly. While she didn’t understand why she had been attacked, she figured it had to do with what she had done to Dean. Marina, being overly jealous, heard that some human had her hands all over Dean. When she overheard it by a few guards, she blocked out the piece of information that it was in battle. Knowing some one other than herself touched Dean made her blood boil.

“Perhaps if you had waited a little longer instead of running off, you would’ve been able to have left and I wouldn’t have to deal with you now.” Dean said as he knelt down and pulled Davina off of Marina. Once he had gotten her far enough to Marina’s liking, Davina pushed him off of her and straightened out her dress.

“Is that all your going to do? You’re not going to punish her?!” Marina asked in her high-pitched voice as she crossed her arms. Davina had a word to describe her. But, she just couldn’t place her finger on the word.

“There’s nothing to punish her for.” Dean said with a sigh. He really didn’t want to deal with her as well. Marina stomped her foot on the floor.

“Obnoxious.” Davina said, finally finding the word. Charlie snorted, making no attempt to hide it. Before Marina could throw a tantrum, Catrice spoke up.

“You should really leave now, Davina. I’m sure the rest of the organization is wondering where you went.” Catrice spoke. She could see her King getting irritated. She wasn’t sure if it was more Davina or Marina, but he was irritated and she knew that was never a good thing.

“Sure, just show me to a door.” Davina said snottily as she picked up her shoes and began walking to the exit. Catrice bit her tongue and ran ahead of her. Once the two had fully left the room, Marina began to lean into Dean’s side and wrap her arms around his neck, making it very clear she was intoxicated with how touchy she was being. Charlie laughed as he read the mind of Dean, who hoped Marina would just leave him be. Jackson stepped forward and lifted the girl into his arms. She had lost consciousness the moment she leaned into Dean’s side. Jackson sped off to one of the many rooms in the mansion, leaving her on the bed before returning to the room Dean and Charlie resided in. He took his handkerchief out of his jacket and began to wipe his hands, indicating he hadn’t enjoyed touching the intoxicated girl. But, for his King, he’d do anything.

“Never in all my time did I think you’d allow a human to speak to you such way.” Charlie said. Jackson thought the same though he didn’t say. “I think she’s adorable.” Charlie continued.

“She is far from it. She’s obnoxious, bratty, and entitled.” Dean said, thinking back to what she had said earlier in his office. Who the hell does she think she is thinking that I owe her, Dean thought as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

“I will say, it’s a little peculiar that I couldn’t read her mind. Could you, Jackson?” Charlie asked, turning back to face Jackson.

“No, but I wasn’t really trying anyways.” Jackson said. Charlie scoffed, waving him off, muttering something about Jackson being no fun.

“However, from what I’ve seen, she’s a very interesting creature. Perhaps you’ll keep her around, Dean.” Jackson said as he exited the room with his hands behind his back. He did truly mean what he said of Davina. He had met over thousands of humans in his time. One of which he fell in love with. Davina subtly reminded him of her, which made him intrigued. That, and the fact that Dean had made no stop to her treating him the way she did. The Dean he knew would rip out anyone’s throat who spoke to him in such way, no matter the relation the two have.Perhaps, he too was intrigued by the young girl, Jackson thought with a smirk as he walked down one of the many hallways of the compound to exit. Charlie wandered around the room, in search of a liquor glass.

“It’s late, Charlie. Leave.” Dean said as he lowered himself onto one of the sofas. He sighed as he leaned his head back.

“It’s much too early for the festivities to end, my king.” Charlie spoke. Dean turned, glaring at Charlie. Fear struck through him. He didn’t speak. He quickly bowed before Dean before exiting the room. Dean brought his hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose. He stretched his legs out along the leather couch and laid an arm behind his head as he went into deep thought. Dean had never met someone whose mind he couldn’t read. He had to really try if he wanted to read elder beasts such as Jackson and Charlie. He was the eldest of all as well as the leader. His capabilities were far greater than others. If he chose to, he could block his mind off from everyone. But, Dean wondered how could he, the most powerful beast for several centuries now, couldn’t read a mere human girl’s mind. Davina. The name played off his lips. Dean scoffed at himself for even spending what little time he has to himself thinking of her. She was plain, she was a nuisance. But, more importantly she was human. And the thought disgusted Dean.

The next morning Dean awoke on the uncomfortable leather couch. He moaned as he stretched his arms out. His bones ached. He stood and stretched. Almost immediately, the discomfort went away and he was ready to start his day. He made his way to his living quarters and soon exited once he was dressed, then headed down one of the many hallways of the mansion. His maid ran his way, her heels clicking down the hall as she approached him.

“My Lord! I was just on my way to wake you!” Eloise said as she straightened her apron out. Dean noticed she was late. She was usually at his bedroom door at six sharp. She hardly looked ready for the day, like she just rolled out of bed and didn’t have much time to get dressed properly. Dean didn’t mind however. “It’s perfectly fine, Eloise.” Dean assured her as he continued down the hall. Eloise made a noise, running after him. She mentally cursed those long legs of his that managed to get him so far in such short time. Eloise was a frail, short, and had short legs as well. She was also an older woman in her early 60′s. She had been working with the beasts since she was in her early 20′s many years prior. She had been kicked out of her father’s home with nowhere to go. Dean offered her the job. She couldn’t refuse considering she had no money. She still remembers when she first discovered what they truly are. She was terrified, but she didn’t run. She trusted Dean enough to know that he would keep her safe. Andthatwas entirely true.

“What would you like for your breakfast this morning?” Eloise asked, panting once she finally caught up to him.

“I will be dining out this morning, Eloise. You have the morning off.” Dean responded. Eloise frowned.

“My Lord? Forgive me, but I haven’t had a morning off in decades. It’d feel rather odd not doing my daily tasks.” Eloise said. She worried what his response would be. Dean always treated her fairly. Never yelled at her like he did many of the others he worked with. But, she still feared each and everyday would be the day he finally raises his voice at her. She’s certain she’d die on the spot. Dean turned to her. Her eyes widened as fear struck from within her. Dean noticed this. His facial expression changed.Perhaps I look too intense, Dean thought.

“Eloise, you’re getting to the age where you need to rest more. I put off on telling you for years because I know how you are about your work. I admire your dedication. But, you need to do less.” Dean stated. Eloise tilted her head.

“Who’ll do the work when I can’t, my Lord?” Eloise inquired.

“I have hired two individual’s part time. They will be here later in the day. You will show them all that you do throughout the day and by the end decide who will help you for the remainder of your time here.” Dean responded before turning away and heading back down the hall. Dean was fond of his maid, but he knew the time was coming that she’d have to work less hours. He cared for her being, though he’d never show it. When he made his way out of the entrance to the mansion, a car sat in front waiting for him.

“No, no. I’m driving. Send out my car.” Dean commanded. The driver quickly sped off to find Dean’s car. He sighed as he stood waiting, rain pouring down on the pavement. Lucian exited the mansion, an umbrella over his head. Dean hadn’t thought to grab one, he’d regret that once he got in his car and had to sit in his sopping wet seat. He pulled out a cigarette, searching for his lighter. Lucian approached him, pulling out his own lighter. Dean leaned forward, allowing Lucian to light in for him. He took a puff as he continued to impatiently wait for his vehicle. Soon, the driver came around with one of Dean’s most prized possession’s; his car. Dean quickly ushered the driver out of the car to get inside. The rain was pouring down even harder than before. Droplets dripped onto the stirring wheel as Dean situated himself in his seat. Lucian shook his head, laughing quietly to himself.

“Have something to say, Lucian?” Dean asked, feeling rather annoyed. Lucian stopped and turned to him, the grin across his face annoying Dean more.

“You and this car. I’ve seen you treat this car better than your lovers.” Lucian said, his British accent becoming more apparent. Dean shook his head.

“How I treat my lovers is not to be observed.” Dean stated as he made his way out of the compound.

“It’s hard not to notice when you hear them complain about being tossed out of your door after you’ve got yourself off.” Lucian chuckled. Dean sighed, knowing this would be along day. After breakfast he’d have to go to the port and wait to see if the next shipment had gotten stolen over night. Dean huffed and pinched his nose thinking of his day ahead as he exited the compound.

The time was nearing for Eloise to meet the two individuals who’d potentially be helping her for the remainder of her time working for the beasts. She had spent the morning making packets for the two of them. The packets contained what rooms would be cleaned daily, what would be done in each, etc. A map was also included of the entire mansion so the two could find their way around. When they arrived she quickly made her way out of the guest living area’s and down the long hallway to the kitchen. She opened the back door to be greeted by the two individuals.

“Hello! Welcome in! Hurry now, don’t want to let any of the rain inside.” Eloise said as she opened the door further. The two walked in, taking their hoods off to reveal themselves. Eloise took notice to one of them. A young woman, closer to her height. She looked familiar, but she didn’t know where she thought she had seen her from. She had dark brown hair with purple highlights tied back into a ponytail. Her bangs fell along her face. She wore a green cargo shorts and a black top paired with a leather jacket. She gave the older woman a kind smile, one that she returned almost immediately. Eloise felt bad thinking about how neither of the two know what lies in this building, how they could be put in danger at any point of the day.

“Let’s start this tour off, shall we? I’ll start by showing you the entrance where you may hang your coats.” Eloise said, pushing away her thoughts and beginning to lead them down the hall. The short girl leaned into the other individual’s side; a male who wore a simple pair of blue jeans, black t-shirt, and a black leather jacket.

“Think she recognized us?” Davina whispered, nudging her brothers arm. The older man scoffed.

“You wore a hood. I was hardly seen throughout the night because I didn’t make myself known, unlike you who decided she’d try laying her hands on a beast.” Aaron reminded her. She crossed her arms over her chest and frowned.

“Honestly Davina, that was stupid of you.” Aaron continued. Davina sighed angerly.

“Somebody had to do something! God! You act like you’re not even concerned for our brother.” Davina said, raising her voice only a little. She eyed Eloise, making sure she wouldn’t turn back. Aaron shook his head.

“Of course I’m concerned. I’ve known him far longer than you have. But, unlike you, I’m not going to be stupid and put myself in danger because I’m upset about my brother going missing.” Aaron said. She put her hand into a fist, trying her hardest not to punch him. She hated when he’d pull out that she hasn’t known him as long as he has, as if saying that she shouldn’t care as much as she does. It reminded her of her past, of the life she lived before she found her family. And she didn’t want to be reminded of that. And she hated that word; stupid. He knew that. That’s why he used it. He made no attempts at hiding his distaste for the young girl, who he hardly even considered his sister. Davina knew this, and she never let it bother her until one of the brothers she hold dearest when missing.

“If you dislike me so much, then why are you here? Why did you decide to ditch going to the port today with everyone else to come help me snoop around?” Davina asked. Aaron stayed silent as they continued to walk to the entrance. After a moment, he finally looked over at her to see she was staring up at him. He sighed and shook his head.

“Because, I actually trust you judgment over most.” Aaron answered. Davina stayed silent now. She had her answer, but she didn’t understand it. And wouldn’t question it. Especially when they finally reached the entrance of the compound. The two followed her around for a few minutes, letting her give a tour of the place and explaining what each room was that they’d potentially be cleaning in the future. Davina felt a little bad that this woman was wasting her time on two people who weren’t there to clean whatsoever. A bell sounded throughout the mansion, one getting the attention of Eloise. She recognized it as the emergency bell for when Dean wanted to host and needed food prepared. Eloise panicked as she looked up at the clock.

“My, my! I’ll only have an hour to prepare this! You two, continue on throughout the mansion. The packets will explain everything!” Eloise said as she pulled material out of her pocket and began to unravel it, revealing an apron. She quickly tied it around her waist as she exited one of the many seating rooms in the mansion. The two siblings turned to each other, a smirk appearing on Aaron’s face.

“The beasts left in the compound should know that there are human guests arriving. We should be safe for the most part. Let’s just hope the one’s we fought that saw our faces last night are out at the port today.” Aaron said as he began to exit the room. He didn’t know what exactly they were looking for, but knew they wouldn’t find it in here.

“I suggest we head to the security building first. See if we can find anything on the camera’s.” Davina suggested as she fell into step with Aaron.

“Works for me.” Aaron replied as the two exited the mansion. They walked along the sidewalks and paths to one of the buildings further back in the compound. Davina had the map pulled out in front of her as they made their way up to it, knowing they were in the right place. As they approached closer, they saw an individual making themselves known. They stood in front of the building, guarding it. Davina pulled Aaron down to the ground with her, hiding them both behind a bush.

“What’s the matter?” Aaron asked. Davina scoffed and pointed over at the beast now standing guard, thinking it was obvious.

“So, what? Beast’s know that we’ll be in the compound today. We can just say we were told to go off and explore on our own.” Aaron said.

“Do you really think they’ll believe that the maid let two humans wander off on their own?!” Davina asked in disbelief. Aaron nodded his head rapidly, making Davina groan and shake her head.

“Alright! Fine, let’s try it.” Davina said as she pulled him up. He shoved her away, straightening out his jacket that she pulled on. The two approached the beast who became aware of the two. The white in their eye’s turned red and veins appeared underneath their eyes.

“See!” Davina exclaimed as the two ran towards each other to attack one another. The beast quickly went in for the bite when Davina placed her hands atop the beast’s shoulders, kicking her leg in between theirs. He howled out in pain as Davina punched him square in the nose. She then swung her leg around, her ankle colliding hard with his cheek. And finally, she threw him against the wall of the building, hoping it’d knock him out. Once he was on the ground, Davina knelt down to find his eyes shut and him out cold. She smiled, feeling satisfied with herself. Aaron approached her, frowning at her.

“Where the hell did you learn to fight dirty?! And how’d you knock him out?!” Aaron asked in disbelief. Davina didn’t respond as she took the lanyard off of the beast and put it around her neck.

“Don’t worry about it.” Davina breathed out, not wanting to explain anything Aaron just saw. She pulled the card on the lanyard forward and swiped it across the digital camera. It read the barcode along it and soon a click was heard indicating the door was unlocked. Davina reached forward and opened the door, walking inside of the building. Aaron followed in after, still taken aback by what had just happened. He knew that if Davina didn’t want to talk about it, then there was no way of him finding out. It’s just how she was. The two walked further in to find nobody had been attending to the computer.

“Perhaps someone went on a bathroom break.” Aaron suggested.

“If so, then we need to hurry.” Davina said as she walked over to the computer. Davina looked around the screen, looking for any sort of holding cell where her brother could potentially be kept. She reached forward to touch the keyboard when a hand gripped ahold of her wrist rather tight. She winced before turning to see who had done it. There stood a beast she was unfamiliar with. He had an amused look on his face, his lips curled up in one corner. Davina turned further back to see Aaron being held by another beast who had an arm wrapped around Aaron’s front. He had his claws out on display, holding it dangerously close to Aaron’s neck. Davina turned back to the beast she didn’t recognize that still held onto her wrist.

“Thought I smelt your blood. Jackson, didn’t I say I smelt the peculiar woman’s blood?” Charlie asked, turning back to Jackson. Jackson grunted in response. Charlie eyed him for a moment before turning back to Davina. The moment he did, Davina swung her first forward, colliding with his jaw. She kicked him back into the wall and brought out knives from her back pocket. Charlie stood stunned against the wall. He brought his hand up to his jaw, feeling it out of place. He then twisted his head to the side, a loud crack realigning his jaw and he wiped away blood from his lip.

“You just made a grave mistake.” Charlie said lowly, glowering down at her. Davina wasted no time throwing one of her knives perfectly into the thigh of the beast. He groaned out in pain as Davina ran over to the other beast. Jackson quickly released his hold on Aaron, shoving him out of the way. Davina jumped forward, wrapping her legs around the waist of the beast and bringing her knife down to the skull of Jackson. The two crashed to the floor. Davina grunted with the weight of the beast on top of her. She knew she had done enough damage to slow them down. She quickly pushed the beast off of her and jumped up from the floor.

“Run!” Davina shouted as she grabbed ahold of Aaron’s arm and opened the security door. The two barely made it out of the compound when they were greeted with Dean’s angry, intense glare.
