Chapter 169 

Alpha James really appreciated Ruby’s company, because everyone didn’t seem to care about him, or rather, they had something else more important to care for, including his mate, who refused to talk with him, until he canceled the plan of creating a join force warrior to look for their son. 

Jasmine thought 

not fair for their son. She demanded her mate to create their own warrior group to look for Aiden in secret, but alpha James denied the idea because he knew there was an internal turmoil within the warrior and the pack member, as they lost their trust 

on Aiden. 

They were not thrilled to be led by an alpha, who runaway from his own trial and caused a lot of trouble for their pack by provoking the lycan pack. 

They started to show their dislike when Aiden betrayed Lilac and returned with a pregnant woman, but that misdemeanor was still covered by his victory, yet it wouldn’t work this time. The trick had expired and they didn’t really care about Aiden’s achievement anymore. 

Therefore, the first thing that alpha James should do was to get his people’s trust back. Backing his son up would only backfire on him and this pack. 

It had been stressful days and no one cared for his well beings, including his mate. it was only Ruby, who came to him to check on him and had a small talk like right now, which helped to reduce his stress. 

“Not really good,” alpha James said, while he accepted the meat to his plate. The two of them were eating together in his study room. He looked like he had aged for a few decades. 

“I am sorry to hear that. You have done so great for this pack.” 

Alpha James didn’t respond to that comment, but he felt good to be appreciated, as they continued to eat, they talked about trivial matter that didn’t

Alpha James noticed how clever Ruby was to stir the topic of their conversation and made it as light as possible, so the dinner was delightful. 

He thanked her for the meal and for coming to him, as Ruby cleaned up their dinner and said that she would come again later. Alpha James didn’t agree, he disagreed with 

neith that. He simply told her to take care and she didn’t prolong her stay there. 

However, when Ruby walked out of the room, she bumped onto luna Jasmine, who apparently decided to emerge from her bedroom and grace her mate with her presence. Actually, she had something to ask. This was the same old song. The same demand. 

“What are you doing inside?” Luna Jasmine asked, she stared at Ruby with a frown, but this time, the latter didn’t look so scare like she usually did.

“I just returned from the alpha’s study room,” she answered truthfully.

“With meal?” Luna Jasmine’s eyes found the tray full of empty plates, where they just had 

their meal earlier. 

“Yes.” Ruby smiled softly, but in luna Jasmine’s eyes, it looked like she was mocking her, thus a harsh slap landed on her cheek. 

“What are you trying to do?!” Luna Jasmine grabbed her hair and landed another harsh slap on her cheek, as she kicked her down. She was already very agitated when she came here and now when she saw Ruby and what she had done, she immediately jumped into a conclusion. “You bitch!!!” 

Right now, luna Jasmine was sitting on top of Ruby, while delivering a few more harsh slap, until Ruby couldn’t feel her cheeks anymore. 

“Are you trying to seduce my mate?! You are not satisfied by seducing my son and now you are trying to get to my mate too?!” luna Jasmine screamed on top of her lungs, while delivering more and more harsh slaps on her face. 

Because of this commotion, there were so many people came to see what was going on, but they didn’t dare to stop the luna, because they knew damn well how their luna was when she lost her calm. More so, they were not so close with Ruby to help her. 

They chose not to interfere and grimace when they saw how swollen Ruby’s face was. 

This assault continued for another five minutes, until one of them went to get the alpha and once alpha James saw this, he roared angrily, which startled everyone present there. 

“What do you think you are doing?!” alpha James asked, as he yanked his mate off Ruby, who was bleeding profusely, as she curled herself on the floor and started crying. 

“What do you think I am doing?!” Luna Jasmine lashed out at her mate, she swatted his hand from her and glared down at him viciously. “Do you know what she was trying to do to you?! Are you dumb?!” 

Alpha James lost it. He raised his hand and a harsh slap landed on his mate’s face, it was so hard, luna Jasmine fell to the floor with blood oozed out her mouth. She was too shock to speak, when she turned her head to look at alpha James in disbelieve. 

This was the first time for her mate to lay a hand on her, which surprised alpha James as well, but his anger got the best of him, because of what luna Jasmine tried to implicate with her words in front of so many people. His pride was hurt.
