Chapter 40

Unknown POV

The sound of heavy boots walking toward my cabin made me quickly get up from the bed, and I walked outside. A huge smile spread across my face as I saw Luca walking towards my cabin. Every time I see him, I feel like I am looking at him for the very first time. He takes my breath away and makes my heart flatter. “Baby!” I exclaimed as I walked down the few steps and ran towards his wide-spread arms.

“I missed you so much, darling,” he whispered in my ear as he spun me a few times before he placed me on the ground.

“Me too, why can't you stay here longer with me?” I asked him with a pout, but he gently ran his fingertips on my lips and shook his head.

“You know until we get our revenge on that bastard, we cannot be together.” he reasoned, and I nodded my head.

“So, what have you got this time?” I asked him as I stepped aside, but he still pulled me closer to him.

“Something that would be easy for us to kill, Eleanor,” Luca answered, and this made a frown appear on my face.

“What is that?” I asked him. He momentarily took his hand away from me and took the bag that was placed on the floor. He took out the few clothes which were inside.

“These are Eleanor’s clothes. We will give this to all our soldiers to take a good sniff so whenever they spot her alone, they can kill her on the spot.” Luca said, and I nodded my head. Even though he had shown everyone a picture of Eleanor, we could never find her if she was in her wolf form, so this would be of great help.

“That's a great idea,” I mumbled, and he nodded his head as he placed the bag on the floor, pulled me towards him, and crashed his lips against mine. The kiss was slowly getting needy while both of us were able to feel the clear desire between us.

“When are we going to execute the plan?” I asked him as I broke the kiss.

Eleanor Amato - POV

It's been three days since I last saw Ivan. And even Mrs.Tanner was confused by his behavior. “Ellie?” I looked up from my cereal to see Mom walk into the kitchen wearing her silk robe. “What is churning in your mind?” she asked me.

“Nothing,” I replied, but she shook her head and walked towards me, and took my cereal bowl.

“I don't think it's anything. Because you have completely made your cereal soggy,” she said, showing me the cereal.

“The workload is increasing. And with the rogue situation at the borders. I am a little worried.” I answered.

“I have gone through that phase too. Don't worry, you will figure it out,” she said, and I nodded my head.

Ding.

I was about to get up and see who it was when Mom placed her hand on my shoulder and shook her head. “I will go and check that. You finish your breakfast,” she said, and I nodded my head. A few minutes later, Mom walked into the kitchen with an envelope.

“What is that, mom?” I asked her.

“A warrior came and gave it to me. He said that it was given to him by a woman at the borders to be delivered to Xavier,” she answered as she placed the letter in front of me and made her way to the coffee machine. “Eleanor.”

“Yes.”

“Could you please give this letter to Xavier, dear?” she asked me, and I nodded my head. After washing the utensils that I used, I took the letter and walked out of there. I kept looking at the letter, wondering what was inside, when I tripped on a staircase. But I held the railing before I could fall but the contents inside the envelope fell.

Shit, Xavier is going to think I must have purposely opened his mails. I quickly picked up all the papers, but something in its contents caught my eye.

Dear Xavy,

The news that I want to tell you is extremely confidential. So please meet me at the flower shop in the human town tomorrow morning.

Eliza.

Who the hell is this Eliza?

My mind was working so fast, that a lot of thoughts kept popping up, which made my head hurt. There is only one way to find that out. I quickly put the letter inside the envelope and walked back to our room. When I entered, I heard the shower, so I placed the letter on the bedside table and walked out of there.

As usual, my day went by in a breeze, and even today, I didn't find Ivan. I am not going to let you off the hook that easily Ivan. When I got back home, I noticed that mom and dad weren't there so after heating up the food that was in the fridge.

I ate it in silence before I made my way upstairs. When I arrived in Xavier’s room, I was shocked to see him fast asleep.

Why did he come home early?

“Maybe he is planning to visit that Eliza woman early in the morning,” Erica suggested, and that could be the only reason. Even though he was pretty clear that he did not want a mate, I could not stop caring about him or feeling jealous. I need to see who this Eliza is.

After taking a quick shower, I climbed into bed and fell asleep.

Beep beep.

I groaned as I got up, and I turned around to see that Xavier was long gone. “We are getting late, Ellie. You might miss them.” Erica yelled at me, which made me jolt up from the bed.

“Shit, I forgot,” I mumbled before I rushed towards the bathroom. After taking a quick shower and changing my clothes, I rushed downstairs.
