Beta Xavier Costa.
Chapter 44

Beta Xavier Costa - POV

“I don't think it's a coincidence, Xavier,” Samuel said, and this made me abruptly get up from my place. “Xavier, where are you going!” Samuel asked me, and I turned around to face him.

“I am going to go and meet a friend of mine.” I vaguely answered as I left the office. As I walked out of the pack house, I noticed that It was pouring outside. While thunder rumbled in the sky. I didn't know when I started feeling this way toward Eleanor, but I think now I have figured out that I have started liking her.

She is indeed different from all the women that I have known. “Let's go and see our mate, Xavier,” Kyle whined, sounding distressed. And even though I wanted to do the same thing, I knew that I would have to first figure out what was going on.

These unusual attacks are getting out of hand, and now it has made my mate slip into a coma, I know I can't just sit and wait any longer. I walked in the pouring rain, into the forest, and once I reached the pack border, I removed my clothes and shifted into my wolf. Shaking my fur out, I looked behind me one last time before I ran into the no-man’s territory.

Trees zoomed passed me while I felt the rainwater soak into my fur, but I continued my run. One hour later, my pace slowed down, and I started jogging while looking up at all the trees when I spotted the small tree house. I walked towards that tree and quickly shifted back into my human form.

“Hayden!” I yelled. “Hayden, come down here!”

“Argh! What the hell!” I heard him yell back as I saw the door to the tree house open and a man about five foot eight inches with messy blonde hair walk out. He looked down, and his eyes immediately widened in shock.

“Beta Xavier Costa. It's a surprise to see you here after a long time.” Hayden exclaimed with a smile on his face.

“Come down here, I want to speak to you,” I said, and he nodded his head.

“Give me a minute,” he said and went back into the house and came back out wearing a black t-shirt. He got down using the ladder and came to stand next to me. “What do you need from me this time, Beta Costa?” he asked me with an arched eyebrow.

“I am here to see if you know something about the rogues,” I asked him, and a frown appeared on his face.

“What are you talking about?”

“A lot of people are going missing from different packs every day, and to top it off, the rogues have become even more brave to attack the packs, and they always come in groups,” I explained.

“But rogues are never in groups,” Hayden said, and I nodded my head. That is what I wondered as well. Rogues never work in a group.

“Do you know anything about it?” I asked him, and he began thinking when his eyes widened.

“I did hear about some sort of recruiting happening among the rogues. I don't know who the leader is, but he is recruiting all the rogues who are able to fight.” Hayden said.

“Did they promise something at the end of all this?” I asked him, and he nodded his head.

“They said that they are planning to take over a pack. And if he manages to do that, then the rogues that he recruited will be given a place in that pack.”

“Okay, these bastards have also kidnapped a lot of people, do you have any idea where we can find them?” I asked him, but he shook his head.

“I thought all this was a rumor before, but just to make sure, I went to the place that was listed on that paper. But as I got there, there was nothing left. I think they constantly move to make it harder to track.”

“But how do they recruit rogues if they constantly move?”

“No one approached me regarding this, Beta Costa. I found that piece of paper on the forest floor, and that is how I went to investigate. But I guess they directly come and speak to you about it.”

“Okay, if you get any more information, then give me a call, all right?” I asked Hayden, and he nodded his head.

“Sure, beta Costa,” he said, and I nodded my head as I turned back into my wolf and ran back to the pack. When I reached my house, I made my way to my room and took a shower. After changing my clothes, I walked to the hospital again.

As I arrived in the room that Eleanor was in, I saw my mom sitting beside her. “Any changes?” I asked her, but she shook her head as she got up from her place.

“Did you inform her parents?” Mom asked me, but I shook my head. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“They don't care about her, mom. And they made it very clear when they just left that night without even saying goodbye to her.” I answered, and she nodded her head.

“I will go back home and come later, son,” she said, and I nodded my head. After she left the room, I walked towards the chair she was seated and took a seat on it. I was busy looking through my emails when I heard something buzzing.

I looked at the side table to see that Eleanor’s phone had a message. Even after the car was trashed beyond repair, it was a miracle to find that her phone didn't suffer a lot from the impact except for a crack on the screen. Whereas, for my phone, let's just say I had to throw it.

I took the phone, but when I tried to unlock it, I noticed that the phone was locked. I stared at the phone for a while when I figured out that it had fingerprint recognition. After ten minutes, I finally opened her phone, and I went over to the messages and opened it.

I heard you didn't die. But count that as a blessing, Eleanor. I will not let you live.
