Sarah Williams – POV

“Miss.Williams, Mr. Edward would like to see you know.” I looked up from the piece of letter that I was holding in my hand and at the beautiful secretary who had a fake smile on her face. And I got up from my place and followed her. Once she reached a huge oak door, that had a golden nameplate on it, which read, Carmen Vanguard, CEO, she lightly knocked on it a few times before leaving me alone.

“Come in.” I heard a faint masculine voice, and I took a few deep breaths before I pushed open the door and entered the huge office to see Mr. Carmen sitting behind his desk with Rosemary on his lap, my hands curled into fists when I saw them together.

“Sarah, I heard that you are resigning from your job here and also planning to leave the pack,” Carmen said with a raised eyebrow, and I gave him a forced smile before I nodded my head.

“I guess, I deserve a change in my life, Mr. Vanguard,” I told him curtly, and Rosemary got up from his lap while he got up too, and adjusted his suit before walking towards me.

“I think you are taking a spontaneous decision, Sarah. I mean, I don’t think this is that serious of an issue for you to entirely leave the pack,” he asked me, and my wolf howled in agony, but I maintained my smile.

Once I stepped foot onto the hustle and bustle of New York City, I looked up at the sky, to see that it was gloomy and the wind that blew past me was chilly, indicating that it is going to rain soon.

“We are going to start a new phase in our life, Jane.”

“Yes, and hopefully, we might come across our second chance mate.” my wolf chimed in, but I shook my head and walked towards my parked car. After loading all my things inside, I got inside the car and drove towards my home.

“No, mom, why would you think such a thing?” I asked her, and she shook her head before she placed her cutleries on the table.

“Darling, I am your mother. I know when you are genuinely happy, and when you are faking it.” I sighed and put down my

fork. “You can fool the world with this brilliant act of yours, Sarah. But you can never fool me.”

“Mom, I was intending to tell you this sooner, but I didn’t know how I should tell you.” I started, and she looked at me, expectantly waiting for me to continue. “I found my mate, and he turned out to be Alpha Vanguard’s eldest son, Carmen. It was like my biggest nightmare just came true.”

able to see my mate fooling around with other women anymore.” I told her, and the room was silent. I saw the hurt look on my mom’s face, and I know that she must be thinking about how her only daughter is also abandoning her as her husband did.

Dad left us when I was six. He was the head warrior of the Silver Moon pack, and everyone respected him. But one day he just vanished without any trace, but he did leave a letter for us on the border, saying that he has left with his beloved and that he was sorry to do this to us.
