Chapter 87

Because of Daniels arrival, breakfast at the Taylor residence was exceptionally lavish. All the family members were present, including William, who rushed back from his business trip overnight. Daniel naturally took his place next to Liam, in the most distinguished spot. Olivia was sitting on his other side.

The breakfast spread was diverse, featuring both Eastern and Western cuisines. Daniel preferred a light breakfast so he ate pancakes and cereal. Yvonne kept her head down. Since Daniel's arrival, she had remained quiet, not uttering a word,

She ate quickly and was the first to put down her cutlery. She then looked up with a smile at everyone, her eyes shining brightly. "I listened to Emma's violin performance last night and found it quite melodious, Today, I'd like to share a piece as well."

Liam applauded and looked at Yvonne with a loving gaze. "Good, Yvonne, that's thoughtful of you."

Yvonne picked up the violin and played a lively tune. It was perfectly suited for the morning, setting a positive atmosphere.

After the piece concluded. Emma was also eager to try. She smiled and said, "Let me play a song too.

It was the spirited and moving melody from the previous night.

It was a tune favored by Amelia, so Yvonne often played it. The piece was said to be composed by a ten-year-old girl, and therefore, there was a hint of childishness in the tine. When it was over, Amelia applauded Emma and said proudly, "Our Taylor family's daughters are truly talented."

Yvonne covered her mouth and smiled. "Amelia, don't praise me so much, I'm getting embarrassed."

"Why be embarrassed? You're really good at the violin," Amelia responded with pride.

Yvonne brushed back her hair and suddenly looked at Olivia. "Olivia, how about you play a piece too? Let's consider it the three of us sisters adding some excitement for everyone." As soon as she finished speaking, the lively restaurant instantly fell silent.

Even the servants moved with delicate footsteps, afraid to make a sound. Without showing any traces of it, Daniel frowned slightly and fixed his gaze on Yvonne.

Sensing his gaze, Yvonne lowered her eyes for a moment, her lips curling up almost imperceptibly.

To capture a man's attention, one didn't always have to please him; stirring his emotions could be just as effective.

Meanwhile, Olivia was busy eating her hard-boiled egg and appeared to pay no heed to Yvonne's words, not offering any response at all.

Amelia frowned. She had considered saying a word for Olivia's sake. Knowing that Olivia did not know how to play the violin, she wanted to cover for her. However, Olivia's behavior came across as impolite, focused only on eating without any hint of aristocratic etiquette.

This irritated Amelia greatly.

In a cold voice, she said, "Are you deaf? Didn't you hear Yvonne talking to you?"

Ignoring Amelia, Olivia continued to eat the egg slowly, methodically finishing it. She then took a tissue, wiping her fingers and lips clean.

Finally, she raised her gaze to cast a faint glance at Amelia without saying a word.

Amelia's expression froze momentarily. She suddenly felt as if she had been seen through. She instinctively trembled, experiencing a sensation of being exposed.

Unperturbed by Amelia's presence, Olivia got up and said, "I'm done eating."

With that, she turned and left without sparing even the slightest face to Yvonne, treating her as though she were invisible.

Even though Yvonne was skillful at hiding her emotions, a flicker of annoyance briefly appeared on her face.

The rest of the Taylor family were stunned. They had never expected Olivia to behave in such a way.

She completely disregarded Yvonne's words, treating her as though she didn't exist.

Olivia had already reached the dining room's entrance and was about to leave when Yvonne called out, "Wait."

Olivia left without stopping.

Yvonne widened her eyes.

The servants all turned around and could not help but snicker. "Miss Olivia was so disrespectful that Ms. Yvonne was about to die of anger!" After breakfast, everyone gathered in the living room, where Olivia was already seated, sipping her coffee.

Yvonne had regained her composure, her cunning hidden beneath a calm demeanor. Her first words upon entering the room were an apologetic address to Olivia, laden with sincerity. "I'm truly sorry about earlier. I didn't know you couldn't play the violin. Amelia loves the violin, and you're her daughter. I assumed you were just like Emma, who was taught by a skilled teacher. It was only later when I was talking to Emma that I found out..."

At this point, she deliberately paused and raised her voice so that the servants serving in the living room could hear her. "That you actually grew up in the countryside. Let alone learning to play the violin, you probably haven't even seen one."

"It's not the countryside," Emma quickly explained. "It's a small city." "Isn't it pretty much the same?" Yvonne's expression turned innocent. "After all, you wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn the violin." "Don't talk about it anymore." Emma lowered her gaze. "Olivia is probably feeling inferior. We girls from well-off families are raised with various skills from childhood - music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. She didn't have that environment. It's already quite pitiful for her. Don't bring up things that hurt her feelings."

The two of them echoed each other, seemingly pitying Olivia on the surface while subtly demeaning her, portraying her as worthless.

As expected, after the two of them finished speaking, the servants in the living room looked at Olivia with disdain and no respect.

Olivia was holding a cup. When she heard this, she suddenly placed the cup on the table with a sharp clink, the glass making a distinct sound.

The sound was not loud, but it startled everyone in the room.

She didn't enjoy indulging in these meaningless power struggles, but if she didn't speak up now, they would see her as an easy target. "Pitiful?" Olivia chuckled softly. "I actually think it's you who should be pitied."

Yvonne looked surprised. "Who are you pitying?"

Olivia's gaze shifted to the violin being held by one of the servants. "After learning the violin for so many years, you can't even convey the emotional essence of a piece. That piece 'Mom in My Dream' is clearly melancholic, filled with longing, yet you played it with excessive cheerfulness."

Emma, who had always been proud of her violin skills, immediately retorted upon hearing this. "Nonsense, it's clearly meant to be joyful. The song is about a young girl playing hide and seek with her mother in a dream, recounting the amusing events that happened while searching for her."

Having said that, Emma glanced at Amelia who nodded in agreement. There was a touch of pride in her eyes. "If you don't understand, don't talk nonsense. It's fine if you don't know, but if you pretend to know especially in front of outsiders, it would be an embarrassment to the Taylor family."

Amelia also turned to Olivia with a disapproving look. "If you don't understand, just stay quiet. No one would mistake you for a mute. Don't let your vanity run wild. It's laughable to pretend you know something when you don't."

"Pretending to know something I don't?" Olivia seemed to have heard something interesting. She leaned back on the couch and burst into laughter.

Everyone was puzzled, wondering what she was laughing about.

A maid whispered, "Could Miss Olivia have been triggered? She doesn't know anything. It wasn't easy for her to muster the courage to prove herself, but she was exposed in public. How embarrassing!" After Olivia finished laughing, she suddenly straightened her posture and fixed her gaze on Emma. "Do you know who the real composer of that piece is?"

"The composer is 'The Girl in the White Dress," Emma replied while confused.

This song was very famous, and it was composed by a ten-year-old girl. Back then, it had caused a sensation in the music world. Many people wanted to take the little girl as their disciple, but they could not find her. Olivia lowered her head slightly. "Do you know the author's real name?"

Emma frowned.

Olivia pointed at the phone and gestured. "You can ask someone." Emma didn't want to entertain Olivia, but everyone was curious. What was Olivia up to?

Amelia was also very curious. She took out her phone and called a well-known figure in the music industry to inquire.

"Oh, you're asking about the author of 'Mom in My Dream"?" A female voice came from the other end of the phone. "I'll go and ask. I think her surname is Taylor. She even has the same surname as you." Then came a series of footsteps and hushed conversations. After a while, the woman's voice returned.

"Got the answer. The real name of the composer is Olivia Taylor!"
