106 Unraveled Facades 

The party’s atmosphere shifted palpably as Emma remained aloof, avoiding any interaction with Alex 

hout the evening. As guests gradually trickled out, Alex found himself lost in thought, 

watching Emma from a distance. Her transformation was something he couldn’t have foreseen. In their marriage, she was like a shadow, present but scarcely noticed. He had taken her presence for granted, never truly engaging with her or recognizing her worth. In hindsight, he realized how blind he had been to her vibrancy and capabilities. She had always been there, yet he had failed to cherish her. Now, as he observed her from afar, he understood the depth of his loss. 

Regret gnawed at him, but it was too late for amends. Their paths had diverged irrevocably, and even if he longed for reconciliation, Emma wouldn’t grant him that chance.
