Damien finished his drink and ordered two more. Ana was starting to feel pleasantly relaxed from all the alcohol.

She looked away as he carefully carried the conversation. They spoke lightly about work and their personal life. 

An hour or two later, the party was in full swing. Music was blaring, drinks were spilling, and no one cared about what was happening around them. Ana was still engaging in a cat–and–mouse chase with Damien, still on the fence about joining him and letting go of her inhibitions. 

They seemed to be pulled together, wasting no time on other people. She became so attuned to him that when she walked over to the washroom to freshen up, she felt him come up behind her. When she opened the door to leave, she was not surprised to find Damien standing near the door. He wasted no time in stepping into the room and locked the door behind 

him.

“Tell me to leave,” he whispered. 

“No.” She sounded sure, surprising herself. She hadn’t felt this excited… ever. She wanted it. She wanted him…. all consequences be damned. 

His thumb was rough against her bottom lip. She licked it before sucking it into her mouth. The hiss that escaped Damien’s mouth made her bolder.
