Damien grabbed her and flipped her over on the bed. She squealed a little. “A smartass, are you, Miss Reid?” 

Alan called out again and Damien heard the unmistakable sound of a door opening in the hallway. Damien knew he had locked the door, but just in case, it was best to get dressed. 

“I don’t know what’s happening. He rarely wakes up in the middle of the night.” Ana scowled in confusion. 

Damien let her up with a final peck to the lips and hopped off the bed to pull his boxers on. One thing he was certain of, when he finally made love to Ana, they would be completely alone with no distractions. Damien loved his son, but there was no way he would be allowed to interrupt while Damien showed Ana how much he loved her. 

Damien slipped into his clothes as Ana tumed to leave. But then she paused and looked over her shoulder. 

“Do you want to help?” 

“Sure. Do you think that will be okay?” he asked hesitantly. 

“Why wouldn’t it be?” 

Damien shrugged. “I don’t know…” 

“It’s going to be fine, Damien.” She walked out the door and he followed. Alan’s door was wide open and he was standing inside his bedroom. Ana” lifted him up. 

“What’s the matter, baby?” 

“I hafta potty.” 

Ana turned around quickly. She crashed into Damien, who was standing right behind her. He reached out to steady her and then grabbed Alan out of 

her arms. 

“Daddy, hili,” he greeted groggily. 

“Hi, Alan.” Damien couldn’t help but smile. Alan’s head was bobbing with sleep and Damien put his hand on it so that he could rest his head against Damien’s shoulder. 

“Can you take him to the bathroom?” Ana asked him. 

“What do I do? He’s almost asleep?” he whispered. Ana shook her head, but she was smiling. 

“Sit him on the pot and he will be fine.” 

“Sit?” he prompted. 

“Yeah, sit.” 

Damien finally remembered what he wanted to ask her. “I wanted to ask you that… Shouldn’t he stand?” 

Ana stopped smiling but there was still amusement in her eyes. “Damien, I have no idea how to teach a little boy how to stand and pee. I just don’t have the right parts for it. If you would like to take that task on… be my guest. But can I make a suggestion?” 

Damien motioned her to continue. 

“Wait until he is awake to start those lessons.” 

Damien nodded and turned to take Alan into the bathroom. He was half–asleep and when he set Alan down on the toilet, he slumped over. Damien put his pajama bottoms on once he was done and lifted Alan into his arms. 

He walked back down the half and Ana motioned for him to lay Alan down on the bed. He set Alan down and backed up towards the door. Ana pulled the covers over Alan’s chest and brushed his hair back from his forehead. 

Damien could hear Ana singing softly to him as his lashes fluttered with sleep. The absolute love in her eyes for their son completely bewitched him, There was a lump in his throat as he thought about the decisions she had to make once she found out she was pregnant.

Ana kissed Alan on the forehead and stood up. Once she had closed Alan’s door, they walked into the kitchen. She pulled two glasses out and filled them with water before handing one over. 

“Will you stay?” she asked, shifting her glass from one hand to the other. 

Damien’s mouth opened and closed before he sighed. “I don’t think my poor back can take sleeping on the sola again,” 

Ana bit her lip hesitantly. She was worried that he would say no. She was also worried that he would say yes and she wouldn’t know what to do after. 

“Damien, I didn’t mean on the sofa,” she whispered. 

“Are you asking me to stay with you?” Ana nodded. “In your bed?” She nodded again. 

Damien fidgeted, his eyes shifting around the room as he thought about his response.

“You don’t have to. I was just asking.” she said quickly. 

Damien chuckled slightly and Ana couldn’t help but be disappointed. 

“Why don’t you want to have sex with me?” she asked slowly, trying not to cry. 

Damien choked on his water. It took him several moments to get himself under control. “Is that what you think?” he asked incredulously. 

Ana shrugged. “You keep pulling away every time we are close… So…” 

“Fuck… Ana,” he interrupted. “It’s not that I don’t want to have sex with you. Lord knows, I do, but I am so scared.” 

He opened his arms for her and Ana walked into them without hesitation. She needed his comfort at that moment.

Ana held him tighter. “You know it’s not going to be like that, don’t you?” 

“I know that. But I don’t want a quick romp just because we are horny. I don’t want to be running out of time before our son comes to find us.” He tilted her head up and planted a soft kiss on her lips. “I want to take my time with you. I want to worship you. I want to taste you…” 

He kissed her between every sentence.
