Wesley was severely injured, his life hanging by a thread.

Amber gritted her teeth. A torrent of rage flooded her heart, threatening to spill over.

Jameson held her waist so tightly that she was unable to move. Even if she could move, how on earth was she supposed to get there?

"I can't believe I trusted and nurtured you. Yet, you chose to betray Mr. Schmidt! You good-for-nothing traitor!"

Carl, already violent, was incensed. His outrage burned hotter than ever. He yearned to torture Wesley relentlessly, a display of his unwavering loyalty. "Do you have any idea what you've done by selling us out?"

"What... if... I did?" Wesley rasped weakly, slumped sideways. "It... didn't... change... my decision..."

Wesley's words piqued James' interest. He raised an eyebrow, taking a deliberate sip of wine.

Amber's lips trembled as she stared at Wesley, who was on the brink of death. She counted down in her heart, barely breathing!

"Why did you betray Mr. Schmidt? Speak!" Carl glared at him angrily and kicked him.

Wesley scoffed, a weak chuckle escaping his lips before his eyes fluttered shut.

Carl lost his temper and was about to kick his head.

Then, Jameson suddenly said, "Carl, wait."

Carl instantly retracted his leg.

"If I recall correctly," Jameson continued calmly, "you're the bodyguard I punished for a mistake a few years back, aren't you?"

Wesley didn't say a word, effectively admitting it.

Amber's face drained of color. Her heart felt like it was about to jump out of her chest.

She'd witnessed countless acts of treachery throughout her life. Her heart, hardened by experience, was usually unfazed. But it was different this time.

Wesley was her partner-in-crime, the one glimmer of warmth she had found in the treacherous world of the Millennium. But that warmth was about to vanish before her very eyes.

"Have you been holding this grudge all these years? Even so, you have held it in for so long. Why did you choose now to go behind my back? Who is your accomplice? And who instructed you to bug my room?" Jameson's lips curled into a mocking smile.

Jameson continued, "I like how ballsy you are, so I'm going to give you one last chance. If you tell me who your accomplice is, I will spare your life. Not only will I spare your life, but I will let you join the management of the Millennium and work alongside Carl. What do you think?"

Amber was about to lose it. As she was about to part her pale lips, Wesley laughed. "Jameson... Do you take me... for a fool? Nothing that comes from your mouth... can be trusted... you heartless animal. I believe that justice will be served. Even if I fail... you will soon bite the dust!"

"You worthless pig! How dare you curse Mr. Schmidt!" Carl was outraged and kicked him.

"Dozens of people want me dead across Solana City and Kontina. Even if these are your last words, you really should have been more creative with it."

Jameson wasn't angry; instead, he laughed. He then shook his head. "I won't force you since you don't appreciate this chance. Amber..." Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

He suddenly called her name.

Amber's heart tightened. She looked at his sinister eyes blankly.

"Previously, I had my doubts about you. Now, I'm giving you a chance to redeem yourself."

As he spoke, Jameson patted the small of her back. A cold and murderous glint flickered in his eyes. "Kill him, and I'll consider us even. You'll remain my most trusted confidante, second only to Carl."
