Chains to Crowns
Chapter 32

Marc set Klara down on his desk before her lips were captured. She felt more at peace but there was a niggle. A niggle of discomfort. “Relax, little one. I’m sorting everything,” Marc murmured, trailing his hands down her sides before fisting the hem of her skirt. His teeth grazed the sensitive flesh of her neck. She shivered, lowering to lay over the polished surface.

He tugged her skirt up to rest around her waist, “You’re so beautiful.” He leant over her, reconnecting his lips to her neck, nudging her blouse away to admire his mark on her shoulder. She could feel his pride and shivered when his finger grazed over the almost completely silvery bite. “Marc,” she whined, his bulge rubbing against her most sensitive area between her thighs.

“Yes, Klara?” he rumbled huskily.

“Please.” She ground against him, wanting more. The pleasure he gave her was nothing she’d ever thought possible. She clamped her legs around his hips, tugging him closer.

“Can’t do anything with these in the way,” he teased, stroking the fabric of her underwear.

“You a wolf or a mouse?” she challenged, fisting his t-shirt.

He grabbed her chin, glaring into her blue eyes, “Don’t start,” he warned.

“Starting to wonder who’s meant to be in charge.” Her eyes sparkled, a playful push… a cautionary test.

The growl rumbled around the room and she found her stomach pressing against the hard wood, her hip bones dug into the curved edge of the dark desk. “Say that again,” he dared.

She pressed her palms against the cool surface, he wasn’t angry, all she felt from him was a deep burning arousal. She gulped, “Starting to wonder who-” Her underwear tore from her, human teeth bit onto the back of her neck and she felt the fullness of him within her. The underlying concern was eradicated, his bite was primal, a different kind of marking that would fade, she was pinned beneath him… and she wouldn’t want it any other way.

Klara silently slipped from the bed after Marc had fallen asleep. Grabbing the clothes she’d taken off a mere twenty minutes before she padded from the room, a slightly regretful look back towards him before slipping the clothes on the moment the door had shut as silently as she could make it.

She straightened as she stepped from the King’s wing, passing guards she gave the aura and confidence that she should be walking the corridors at the late hour it was.

She stepped out into the slightly cooler night air, retracing her steps past the training ground where the wolves were still working. She pitied them a little, but supposed an alternative could have been worse. In a way it was a fair punishment, it was a punishment to force improvement.

Two large males blocked her way as she went to push the door open to the single story building, “I’m here to see my father at the King’s request.”

“Your Majesty?” The bald guard asked, clearly uncomfortable.

“Now,” Klara demanded confidently, her baby blue switching electric as she glared at the pair.

“Of course, your Majesty,” the dark-haired bowed and moved aside as the bald male swung the wooden door inward.

“Open it,” she growled as soon as she stepped inside, seeing a different set of guards to earlier.

“The King has ordered-”

“I know what the King wants.” She eyed the two males and one female, she felt the power of her wolf push forward, the ripples of domination flowed the guards, “Open it,” her command one of a true Alpha.

As soon as the door was open, she swept down the stone steps without hesitation, heading straight for the cell. While her wolf was dulled down here, she focused with all her strength and managed to bring her forward enough, just enough. “Father,” she greeted stonily.

“Klara!” he gasped, clearly shocked. “My child!”

“My Queen, I cannot, without your wolf you are vulnerable, your Majesty.”

“He is weak, he cannot harm me.” She extended her claws, a move that had the guard’s eyes widening in disbelief.

“The silver,” he whispered.

Silversmith struggled upright, his forehead dotted with perspiration at the apparent pain he was in. “They know nothing, child. The kingdom knows nothing of us and our power. We’ll be better in our own lands.”

“My land.”

His blue eyes flashed before his expression softened. “Of course, child. I’ll hand over the title as soon as we are home.”

She ripped the keys from the guard, slotting the right key first time into the lock. “I missed you,” he whispered.

“Did you?” she murmured, stepping into the cell.

“Of course, I was so scared for you. Scared what they would do to you. You’re not safe here.”

“I’m safe with you?”

“Of course. I know I did wrong, but you understand. Your behaviour needed changing.”

She looked to the floor a moment, while she was confident of what she had to do... she just felt a notion of betrayal. “I understand,” she breathed.

Wrapping one arm around him, she lifted him from the cot with surprising ease. He leant into her, embracing her gently. “What happened to mum?” she whispered.

“I told you, pet. You lost control.”

“Why can’t I remember?”

“Let’s go home.” He put an arm around her, looking over her head to something she couldn’t see. He hugged her, leaning on her for support while she peered up to him. “I was wrong to suppress your wolf.”

“You won’t do it again,” she made it a statement, he wouldn’t.

“No, my child. An Alpha must be strong, I made you strong.”

She nodded, resting her head against his bicep, he may never bring her comfort... but he would always be her father.
