CHAOS: Chapter 40
“Jax, get the fuck back over here!” Grayson shouts across the gym. He flew in for a pre-match training session. After chewing my ass about losing my license, he’s now working me until I pass out, it seems.
I glance up from my phone just as Alexei makes a run at Nikolai. I brace myself, sure Niki could pin him to the ground with one hand. But Alexei ducks out of the way, jumps on his back and puts the big fucker in a headlock.
“Tap out.”
Alexei’s bicep strains against his throat. Nikolai, now red faced, grabs hold of Alexei, who is finding this whole thing funny.
“I got the big one!” Alexei calls out to me and I chuckle.
Grayson watches on, completely unamused. Another notification comes up from my bank and I grin.
She’s being a good girl, spending my cash.
A loud thump catches my attention as I find Alexei now on the mat with Nikolai standing on his chest.
“I let you think you’d won.”
I shake my head, typing out a text to Sofia.
Not that she’s spending anywhere near the amount I’d want her to. But I see that she enrolled in her course, and by the looks of it, bought some shoes.
J: Keep spending, it’s making me horny.
S: Be a good boy and get back to training.
I bite down on my lip, my cock now pulsing. I can imagine the blush on her face just typing out that text.
“Oooh, you sending spicy messages?” Alexei calls out, walking towards me with a wild smirk, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
J: Are you trying to get me killed? I’ll see you at home…
It’s quite possible she will be the death of me.
Locking my phone, I toss it back down on the bench.
“None of your business. You given up? Got your ass beat already?”
He jabs my arm in response, and I chuckle.
“Didn’t even feel that.”
It’s probably the fact I’m numb to most things. Physical pain is nothing to me.
“Jax, let’s go. We’ve got one more hour. You wanna get yourself killed in the ring? You decided to fight with no fucking rules,” G shouts and the room goes quiet.
I swallow, taking in his words. Before Sofia and Maeve, I wouldn’t have given a shit. I live, I die. Whatever.
But now, I have a purpose. There’s a glimmer of hope for me. Something I am clinging on to. The world isn’t as black as it once was. And that is because of my girls.
So Grayson is right. I don’t wanna die in the ring, I can’t. I have to see my daughter grow up.
“Calm down, I got this.”
I duck under the ropes with a new sense of determination.
There is no option to lose this fight. Not anymore.
