I wake up the next morning alone. Ilad's side of the ned had long ago gone cold. I look at my phone and see it's only 6:30 in the morning. "Hey love! Where'd you go." I link my mate through our bond but hit her mental block. Hmmm ok. "I guess I'll just search for you.

I quickly shower and change. Choosing a black spaghetti strapping ankle length sun dress. With a nice sandal to match. Skipping makeup and throwing my hair up in a messy bun.

I leave our room and head for the kitchen. Stopping at the twins bedroom door. Hearing their soft breathing before continuing down that hall. They've really adjusted to pack life. Even moving in with Ilad.

I reach the kitchen and drag myself to the coffee machine. Usually I'd avoid caffeine this early but mama is tired.

I drinkna few sips of the coffee and dump it. Before grabbing an orange. I inform an omega named marigold and ask her to listen out for the pups. She a sweet older woman who never had children but loves them. The teins adore her.

The children are in a deep asleep and I should be back before they wake up. With that thought I leave the house .

We live close to the pack hosue so my trek to look for my mate only takes about five minutes. When I get there I go straight to my brother's office. Empty. "Where are you?" I try the pack link this time. Again silence.

My anxiety is starting to pair with fear. What if there was a breach again? What if she's hurt? No I'd feel that right...right? Or the witch took her and shes blocking our link! Lilly whines and my chest clenches. "I can't reach Mila either."

I run from the pack house and start sniffing the air. Nothing and everything! But no Ilad, Sinead or Ana! "Hey! Do you know where our mates are?" I link Ana and she replies right away. "Heyyyy girl, yeah they're in the cells. Still trying to get information from those rogues. Are you good?" I release the breath I've been holding. "Shit I forgot. "Oh Lex don't do that! Come to our suite. I'll get us some breakfast started. With a half coffee, half cocoa combo." Ana says. The last part makes me giggle. She's lucky we're wolves or she'd definitely give a human doctor a run for their money.

"I'm on my way. Make sure I get extra marshmallows." I laugh and head back inside.

After stuffing our faces and drinking cup after cup of Ana's sugary mix. I feel way better. "Not gonna lie. I'm not sure this drink mixes with breakfast food." Ana says through burps. We giggle and I fan the fake stench away. "So manly."

She laughs and takes a mock bow. Then throws a couch pillow at me. "For the record. I don't think the drink mixes with anything!" I say and burp louder the she had.

We were in a fit of giggles when Sinead and Ilaf come through the door. Their somber expressions sober us quickly. "Hey, what happened?" Ana asks as we walk to them. They each grab us and inhale our scents but say nothing.

Ilad finally breaks the silence. "I think you both should sit down."

"Absolutely fucking not! Ill kill that bitch!" My body is trembling with rage. Ana is in hysterics. Ilad just told us the witch only helped the rogues because she needed them to get the kids. ALL four kids!!! They didn't know why. All they knew is their part was to kill me. I want answers!

"Breathe my love. They won't get the pups or you." Ilad rubs my arms soothingly. It helps but not enough to clam mine and Lillys fight or flight response.

"Ok...ok. So we know the witch's motive but not the why. But why kill me. Sure I'm alpha born but I'm just a beta female. My loss wouldn't completely destroy the pack." I am now pacing. Why were the kids so important? I mean twin wolves were rare but not unheard of.

I keep going through what we know in my head. Just like that it hits me. "Their wolves!" Lilly screeches. Yes! Something about their wolves.

"Ana, Sin! When did Clover and Sage shift for the first time?" At my question Sinead's eyes widen and Ana gasps. "They were shifted when we found them after the battle. Your brother had to Alpha command them to shift back." At her words she starts to visibly shake.

"Oh goddess! Our pups were born shifted." I start to panic. "Is their rank special? Is their any significant thing that makes them stand out." I look at them both. Ana starts sobbing and Sinead growls. Gripping his hair.

"What? What is it!" My anger isn't towards them but the unknown. Im terrified for our babies. "They...they have this weird link. A blessing I guess."

Ana stumbles over her words. Then shakes her head. "To who? Ana...to who?" My anxiety is through the roof. "The moon goddess. She saved them! She choose them. We don't know the details but obviously someone does!"

She starts to cry and Sinead deflates to the ground. The strong Alpha wolf scared for the pups. Someone wants our pups and we have no clue how to protect them.

"Ok two blessed wolves and to born shifted alpha pups. We're going to need help you guys." I look at all three of them. My eyes landing on my mate. She nods knowingly and kisses my lips before taking out her phone. "I'll call your Aunts coven and our allied packs." I nod at her and turn back to my brother and sister in law.

We sat and made a plan. After many calls and a few hours of back and forth. Informing Jara what was going on. We left to continue our day. We need to act normal for the kids and the pack. We won't get them up in arms until we have more information.
