Cottonmouth: Chapter 8

The sun was barely up the next morning when Tory woke up to the sound of a gentle snore in her ear. She frowned then noticed how warm she was. She’d been so cold for so long it was hard to believe how warm she felt right this minute. So warm in fact, she almost hated to move. As she laid there, she heard the snore again and frowned. The snore hadn’t come from Wolf who often slept with her. This was a man’s snore and she froze, wondering who the hell she was in bed with.

Very carefully, she lifted her head and glanced at the face above hers. Frowning, she saw it was Cotton. She tried to move away but scowled when she couldn’t.

His arm had tightened around her almost immediately. “Where are you going?” he whispered softly in her ear.

“Why the hell are we in bed together?” Tory wanted to know.

“You needed a safe place to rest after the attack last night. The safest place I know is with me.”

“Oh, ok.” She looked into his eyes. “Hmmm, I think we can get up now. I’m awake.”

Cotton grinned. “But I like it just the way it is for the moment.”

“What does that mean?” she scowled.

He sighed. “Its kind of nice laying here with a woman in my arms. I guess I’ve missed that.”

“Excuse me?” Her frown deepened. She glared at him. “You’re a biker, don’t you have women all the time?”

He chuckled. “Not every biker club is like the Sons of Anarchy, sweet thing. Sure, there are bikers who enjoy a variety of women on a rotating basis but that’s not me. Tory thought about this sharing he just did for a moment. “Then why did you bring me here?”

Cotton exhaled. “I’m not sure, really. It just seemed like the right thing to do.”

She laid her head back on his chest. “Can I tell you something?”

Tory nodded. “I suppose we do.” Then she smiled. “Thank you for this morning.”

Cotton looked at her solemnly. “Oh, this.” He motioned between the two of them. “This is definitely happening again. You can bet on that. I’m not ready to give this up, not yet, maybe never.”

Tory paused for a few seconds at this statement, then turned to find her clothes. She found her bra then her panties and put them on.
