Once she left, we all continued to glance at Lukas.

“What? What did she mean by all that?” he blurted out, clearly flustered.

“I believe,” Aleina spoke up, “she was referring to the cute little blonde curly-haired girl with bright green eyes who was watching you when we were on our way to the challenge with the rogues.”

We all looked at her in disbelief.

“What?” she asked confused, “Don’t tell me I was the only one who noticed her. She was so cute. Her emerald, green eyes glittered as she watched Lukas. It was pretty obvious she only had eyes for him.”

“Wait a second. Are you talking about Sapphire?” Ian asked.

Aleina shrugged, obviously not knowing who Sapphire was.

“Hold on. The girl who used to chase Lukas, you, and me around with a stick because she thought we were mean?” I asked.

Lukas’ eyes went wide.

“No way. She couldn’t be my mate. I didn’t feel anything towards her the last time I saw her,” Lukas tried to deny it.

“Which was when? When you were five, six? She hit you super hard with that stick once and you told her you never wanted to see her again. I don’t think she’s shown up in front of you since then,” Ian recalled.

Aleina smacked him hard on the arm.

“No wonder the Moon Goddess called you stupid. You literally told your mate you never wanted to see her again and didn’t even know it! You better go talk to her right now,” Aleina demanded.

“But,” Lukas started as he rubbed the back of his neck.

“No buts!” both Aleina and Venessa yelled. They then glanced at one another and laughed.

I couldn’t resist the temptation. I moved my hand behind Aleina’s neck, turning her face towards mine.

“I’m kissing Aleina in one minute. If anybody wants to watch, feel free to stick around. I recommend beating it though,” I announced.

Everyone started tripping and pushing to get out of the room. As soon as the door closed, Aleina brought her hands up to caress my face.

“Who says we have to wait the full minute?” she asked, batting her eyelashes at me.

A smile plastered itself on my face. I gingerly brought our lips closer until they finally touched. The electricity pulsed through us. I tried to stay sweet and gentle. Then she bit my lip and I could no longer hold back. The kiss heated up. I carefully maneuvered her to the bed. I picked her up by the waist and laid her in the middle of the bed.

I pulled away long enough to ask, “Aleina, can I mark you and make you mine forever?”

She wrapped her arms securely around my neck as she answered, “I was already yours. The mark is only to tell the world.”

I smiled. I brought my lips right above her collarbone. Her lips found the same spot on me. Together we bit the spot, creating our mark. Once it was there, we pulled away to admire the new look.

My eyes then traveled to hers.

“Aleina,” her eyes moved to mine, “I love you.”

She smiled that breathtaking smile, “I love you too.”

I kissed her lips, then traveled to the scar on her other collarbone. The scar I had looked so long for. The scar that told of our curse. The scar that had haunted my dreams. Now, it was a symbol of all we went through. It was a symbol of our love. Each of us carried a half. Only together were we a full moon. We were able to shine on our own all this time, but now that we were together, imagine how brightly we could light up the world. The Moon Goddess may have cursed us apart. But what is meant to be will always find a way. Especially when you have two very stubborn werewolves determined to defeat the odds and prove you can decide your own fate.
