It has been a week from the time I returned home, things have gone back to the way they were and I should be happy but it is not sitting well with my spirit. I was really hoping Caleb would sit me down and try to find out what happened but both he and Nancy haven’t even bothered, maybe they are feeling guilty because I almost lost the baby and I should stop over thinking it. Well I am still trying to find the best way to bring up the issue of him belonging to a cult but it’s like every time I am ready, he is either too busy to talk or too tired.

I look at my book for the millionth time, I have been trying to study but my head is everywhere but here and I can’t seem to get anything right.

A familiar scent hits me, I was hoping I don’t get to run into her because honestly I don’t have anything to tell her.

‘So you are really back.’ She says

I look up and see that her eyes are puffy

‘Hai Claudia.’ I say

‘Hai Claudia, that is all you are going to say?’

I don’t respond

She scoffs and I can tell that she has so much that she has to say.

‘Is there something you want to tell me?’

‘Would you rather we talk from outside?’

People are starting to look at us and I know if this doesn’t go the right way we might draw unnecessary attention.

‘Now you want to talk? When you have been back for a while and yet you didn’t think of talking to me right?’

Seeing that she doesn’t want us to have some privacy I pick up my things and start to walk out but she follows me.

‘Wane what is the meaning of this? How do you just go away for all this while and then you get back and you don’t even think of coming to see me or even talk to me.’

I don’t stop walking until I get to where I parked the car, Nancy borrowed me hers.

‘So this is it right? This is the end of everything we have built right?’

‘I can’t talk to you right now, you need to be in a better place before I can say anything to you.’

‘Better place?’

‘Will you continue repeating everything I have said?’ I ask getting frustrated

She scoffs as she shakes her head.

‘Besa was right you know, he was right.’

‘Right about what?’

‘He left Astridah thinking you were pregnant for him meanwhile you were sleeping around and now you are back I don’t know to ruin whose life.’

‘Is that what he told you? Is that what your brother has been telling people?’

‘It’s the truth isn’t it?’

I get in the car and start it, clearing my mind in the process because I know if I continue like this I might just end up losing it.

I call his line and he picks on the ring.

‘Where are you?’

‘Home.’

I drop the line even before he can respond.

I drive there as fast as I can, when I get there I notice his parents’ vehicles are not in the car park.

‘I heard you were back and I was hoping to see you sooner.’

I slap him, so hard I don’t know where the strength has come from.

‘What the fuck Wane.’

‘Now listen to me Besa.’ I say breathing out violently

‘You will refrain from using my name in vain, you will no longer tell people lies about me or I swear on this child I am carrying I will ruin you.’

He chuckles before grabbing me by the hand.

‘So you are still carrying the bastard, best believe it will be gone in no time and you will carry my child.’

I clear my head and fix my eyes on the part he has placed his hand.

‘If I were you I would let go.’ I threaten my eyelids turning blue and my hair starting to turn into gold and the length getting longer

‘What is happening to you?’

‘If I were you, I would let go.’ I say still looking at his hand, he doesn’t so I continue to stare hard until ice starts excreting from my hand to his.

‘Wane.’

‘Let go.’ I say my hair continuing to grow

He tries to fight it but finally let’s go and I can see the fear written on his face.

‘Who are you?’

‘Stay away from me and my child, you don’t want to know what I will do to you the next time you get any close.’ I say not once looking away

‘And tell whoever you bow down to that they need to come prepared if they are to hurt my child.’ I say walking out of the house.

O’Brien is just parking his car when I get to where I have parked.

I can see the worry written all over his face but I don’t spare him a minute to say anything to me, I just get into the car and drive off.

I am worried, Wane looked really angry when she drove off so I rush into the house when to find Besa who looks shaken. Immediately he sees me he tries to put himself together but it’s too late because I have seen him.

‘What happened?’ I ask looking at his wrist which looks a little off

‘Nothing.’ He says standing up but I use my powers to get into his head and see exactly what happened, it’s the first time I am using them on any of my children but it was necessary because Yakari is as important to them too.

When done I go to my room where I find mother waiting.

‘We are starting to break so many rules.’ I say closing the door

‘It’s about to get bad O’Brien, you have to pick between your family finding out who you really are or giving up your life here.’

I look at her.

‘And Wane?’

‘She is human.’

‘Mother.’

‘We both know she is not one of us, she might be carrying Yakari but that doesn’t make her special.’

‘And the powers?’

‘They will go away when Yakari is born, you have to decide fast because war is coming.’ She says before walking away into thin air
