Euphoric Horizons

With the tribunal defeated, the war came to an abrupt end. Since dimensional synthesis had been prevented, life continued in the universe. The rebels celebrated their victory across the Vorilian quadrant. And though they lost their leader, they embraced what he stood for—freedom. In due time, Michael Browder and his rebels brought humanity to a new era of prosperity. Though the steamwalkers were welcomed to join, they valued their independence and remained isolated as they had always been. Yeramba was eventually brought back to Earth by the steamwalkers via their mothership. Brock and Bas Panzo loved their homeworld, but since civilization no longer existed there, they decided to live on Parronus with the rebels and helped rebuild the capital. Within less than a year it was rebuilt. And though they were never able to find Flint after the collapse of the tribunal’s skyscraper, a memorial dedicated to him lay at the center of the capital city. Billions of people from other planets soon moved there, living in harmony.

In the meantime, Sarah mourned the loss of her father and attempted to start a new life with Jake on Soalace. Since a full supply of soal lasted for several months, the interstellar ship became known as a vessel of exploration into the unknown. Sarah and Jake decided to become explorers on this city-sized spacecraft, seeing what the universe had to offer.

Together they visited myriad worlds, collecting materials for their ship. They were even able to help the steamwalkers recreate soal from planets’ resources, allowing them to continue their journey without needing to refuel on New Earth. Yet after five years of exploring countless galaxies, they felt it was time to return home.

Soalace reached Vorilian IV within seven months. When their homeworld was in sight, two boys with black hair and sky-blue eyes ran to the observation window in the pilot chamber, looking at it with excitement.

“Tommy...Ethan,” called out Jake, approaching his children. “How many times do I have to tell you? No running in the pilot chamber.”

Just then, Clarienus leapt down from the ceiling, playfully licking the kids.

“Ah, so you three are playing without us?” said Jake, raising an eyebrow.

Sarah chuckled while walking beside her husband and reached down, lifting up her four-year-old twins.

“Mommy, look!” said Ethan, pointing at the indigo planet ahead.

“Is that New Earth?” asked Tom.

“Yes,” she answered, smiling. “We’re finally home.”

The Cross family was once dysfunctional. Humans weren’t perfect. Nothing could ever truly be perfect. Although dimensional synthesis may have evolved the human species, it would have caused the destruction of the cosmos. And thanks to Flint, upon the precipice of insanity, he’d managed to put an end to synthesis, giving his family and everyone in the universe a chance to find peace.
