Carol was an absolute hot mess when it cto living on her own. At home, everything was handed to her on a silver platter. She

had a maid to keep her company, and the girl didn't have the faintest idea how much water to add to pasta, let alone how to cook

a proper meal. Whenever Felix was around, he would instinctively take care of all those chores.

But why? Why should he lift a finger? It was not like he had to. Carol's inability to fend for herself wasn't his circus, nor his

monkeys.

His face darkened for a moment. Carol, with her back turned, blissfully unaware, kept on talking.

"Is that barbecue ribs I smell? It's so good."

Felix's grip on the broom tightened as he let out a light chuckle.

"What's so funny?" Carol asked, walking over to him.

"I'm laughing at the thought of whether you can actually cook when you're alone."

As of now, Carol could barely manage porridge and spaghetti, and even then, she had cooked soup just once.

During their ttogether, Felix had becher unofficial chef, cooking for her almost every other day. He was so worried she'd

order takeout that he often prepared meals for the next day too, stashing them in the fridge.

He'd even taught her how to use the microwave; all she had to do was heat up the food he'd packed in containers.

So, without him around these past few months, except for the initial weight loss from falling sick, Carol had actually gained about

three pounds - all thanks to Felix's culinary care.

"lI can't," she admitted. "But that's what you're here for, right?"

And why should she learn to cook, with all the money her family had?

Felix stopped talking, finished sweeping the floor, and headed into the bathroom.

The bathroom was cramped, and as he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror, he couldn't resist lighting up a cigarette.

Reflecting on their ttogether, he realized that aside from deceiving Carol emotionally, he had taken good care of her, almost

like a competent nanny. It wasn't what he intended, but he couldn't help himself.

Finishing his cigarette, he rubbed his temples. Had he lost his mind?

Carol didn't know about his smoking break. She sneaked a couple of ribs from the kitchen and settled on the couch to watch a

reality TV show.

Coming out of the bathroom, Felix saw her giggling at the screen.

She was such a carefree heiress.

He watched her for so long he lost track of time, only snapping out of it when his phone rang. It was Nathan.

"Felix, weren't you supposed to talk to Carol today? Did she agree to help with Listina's treatment?"

"Not yet," Felix replied.

"It's evening already. What were you doing this morning?" Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"Cooking, cleaning up."

Nathan was stunned silent, thinking he was hearing things.

Realizing he'd said too much, Felix grew irritated. "I'll talk to her later."

He was confident Carol would agree. After months together, he knew her inside and out.

Carol continued lounging on the sofa, absent-mindedly eating fruit while watching her show.

After hanging up, Felix went back to the kitchen to cook.

Carol's phone rang too. It was a video call from Yolanda.

Fearing to take the call in the living room, Carol retreated to the bedroom.

Yolanda's face appeared on the screen, and she wiped her camera lens before speaking.

"Carol, haven't seen you in months. Did you gain weight?"

Carol had lost weight from two bouts of fever before, but she seemed to have not only regained it but added a few extra pounds.

Remembering all the delicious meals Felix had made her, Carol beamed with pride.

"Remember Felix? Well, I have totally snagged him."

Her excitement was palpable whenever she mentioned Felix.

Yolanda, who had never dated, couldn't help but tease her. "I remember you said he's a great cook. But watch your figure, or it

won't be pretty if you get chubby."

"Oh, Yolanda, cut it out. I could turn into a pig, and Felix would still adore me, believe it or not."

Yolanda laughed until she couldn't breathe.

"Carol, I recall you've had a few exes, but Felix is the first to last more than a month. Congrats. Have you found true love this

time?"

"Absolutely true love. Next time, I'll officially bring him to meet you, and Maja too."
