“Jeff, let's head back,” lan said, his brows furrowed as he glanced outside.

Jeff had no choice but to hit the gas.

Once home, lan brought up the idea of a wedding at the Grand Hall to Maja, but she shot it down without a second thought.

“I designed Greenfield Gardens myself, and that's where I want our wedding. Just close friends, nothing over the top.”

lan reached out and gently rubbed her belly, where their future was steadily growing. The latest check-up showed everything was

normal, and lan couldn't bear the thought of any mishaps now.

He pulled her into an embrace. “Alright, Greenfield Gardens it is. Let's have our wedding photos taken there, too. No one’s ever

done that before.”

Maja chuckled at his flair for the tic. When she noticed the sweat on his forehead, she grabbed a tissue from the coffee table

to wipe it away. But in the next moment, lan fainted.

“lan?” Maja first thought he was just exhausted and tried to wake him, but he wouldn't stir. Frantically, she called Jeff for help to

get lan to the hospital and reached out to Dr. Sarah.

When Dr. Sarah saw Maja, her face was etched with concern. She hesitated, lips pressed tight, then finally placed a comforting

hand on Maja's head.

“It's probably something he’s been exposed to that’s triggered a reaction with his medication. He's been toughing it out, but it

looks like it was too much for him this time.”

Tears welled up in Maja’s eyes. “Is there really nothing we can do? What if Queena could help?”

Dr. Sarah carefully examined the data. “Queena’s blood does help lan, but it would also make him forget his true self. He’d become

utterly dependent on her, a puppet in her hands. We can’t let Queena cback. Whatever she’s concocted over the years,

there's no known cure. He has to endure it on his own.”

She set the data aside, her brow furrowed with concern.

“What's strange is that lan’s been managing fine on his own, with no issues. Over time, he should be developing a higher tolerance

to this irritation, but the data shows a sudden peak. Either sdrug has stimulated this, or Queena has been near him recently.”

Maja remembered the news from the day before and quickly objected.

“That's impossible. Queena was fast-tracked for execution because of interference. It happened yesterday; she’s dead. There's no

way she could be around lan.”

And with the execution carried out publicly, survival seemed out of the question.

But as Sarah looked at the report, sympathy mingled with her professional concern. Maja, even while pregnant, was stronger than

she had anticipated.

Without hesitation, Maja dialed Fitch's number.

“Fitch, it's Maja. Check on Queena’s case for me. I need to know if it was really her who was executed yesterday.”

Fitch put down Ozzy and raised an eyebrow.

“You think there was a switch? That kind of scandal could drag down entire families if proven.”

“We need to check to be sure.”

After Maja hung up, her gaze returned to lan, who lay unconscious. Dr. Sarah continued reviewing the data, marking up the report

until her expression tightened at a particular line.

“Doctor, what have you found?”

“This data fluctuation is too erratic. It makesthink he might have actually encountered Queena herself.” S~ᴇaʀᴄh the Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Maja took a deep breath, the implication clear: Queena might have escaped the execution and could still be alive.
