Colton gave Phillip an exasperated look.
Phillip had no choice but to tamp down his suspicion. “Why are you acting so strangely? Or does she have something on you?”
“No.” Colton couldn’t stand Phillip’s increasingly outrageous guesses any longer, so he simply recounted how Elsa had saved him.
To his surprise, Phillip’s expression changed. “You tolerate her so much just because of that? Fran saved my life, too!”
“Please don’t make things worse,” Colton said helplessly.
Phillip glared at him angrily. “Do you think your grandfather would lie to you? Why else do you think I insisted on you marrying her in the first place?”
It turned out that Phillip had first met Francesca in a shopping mall.
At that time, Phillip was shopping alone at the mall when an abrupt chest pain struck him. The surrounding people hesitated to lend assistance, but Francesca took the initiative to administer first aid and promptly accompanied him to the hospital.
The doctor revealed that if she had helped him a moment later, it might’ve been too late to save him.
In their subsequent interactions, Phillip discovered that Francesca was indeed a wonderful girl, which led him to consider having Colton marry her and bring her home.
Thinking back on everything, Phillip suddenly sighed. “Now that I think about it, what I did actually ended up hurting her.”

He waved his hand weakly. “Forget it, just do as you please. But there’s one. thing–if Elsa does something stupid again and it affects Fran, I won’t be merciful anymore.”
Upon leaving the Zeller manor, Colton finally understood why the Beckman family, despite their apparent dislike for Francesca, allowed her to marry into the Zeller family instead of choosing their own biological daughter.
They wanted to but couldn’t do so.
Back then, he even suspected that Francesca had secretly done something behind the scenes.
His thoughts were interrupted when Elsa’s call came through. “Colt, I…”
She could never have imagined that Miranda would actually dare to record their phone conversation and set her up.
“I’ve told you before. Don’t mess with Francesca,” Colton said coldly.
Elsa was at a loss for words. Flustered, she said, “I’m just worried that she’ll steal you away from me! Haven’t you noticed that ever since Francesca returned to the country, you’ve been paying her extra attention? I-”
“I gave you my word that you’ll be my wife.” Colton rubbed his temples. “Why don’t you go abroad and take a break for a while?”
“What?” Elsa’s voice became sharp and urgent. “How can I go abroad now? If I do, my career will go down the drain, and I will lose you!”
Colton couldn’t help but chuckle aloud sarcastically. “Do you even have a career now?”

No one would dare to hire her now, let alone let her act in movies and TV dramas.
Certainly, Elsa was well aware of these developments. The greater her understanding of the situation, the stronger her resolve grew to cling onto Colton tightly, preventing any further entanglement between him and Francesca.
“Colt, I promise to take good care of our baby from now on and not provoke Francesca!” Elsa said tearfully, “Going abroad is too far away. What if it affects the baby’s health and harms our baby? He-”
“Elsa,” Colton suddenly interrupted. “Are you pregnant with my child?”
Elsa swallowed her words as though she had been choked.
Half a minute later, she stiffly asked, “Colt, what are you talking about? How could I not be pregnant with your child?”
Upon hearing her answer, Colton was quite disappointed.
Leaning against the window, he lit a cigarette and spoke. “You should understand that even in a drunken state, a man remains cognizant of his actions. I’m pretty certain I didn’t touch you that night.”
Elsa was taken aback.
She had always believed she concealed it skillfully, but little did she know that Colton had been aware of the truth all the while.
“I…” Elsa opened her mouth, and then she burst into tears. “I had no choice. That day, the investor took advantage of me when I was drunk. I panicked and was afraid you would despise me. I…”

The more she explained, the worse things became. Elsa was at a loss for words.
Colton had already been fully informed about the entire situation. When he heard Elsa persist in trying to deceive him with excuses, his voice grew increasingly cold. “Issue a public apology statement, exit the
entertainment industry, and take a period of time abroad for recovery. Upon your return, you will still be Mrs. Zeller.”
“Colt, do you really still want to marry me?” Elsa asked with a hoarse voice, gently touching her belly. “What about the baby?”
“In regards to having a child, the decision is entirely yours,” Colton stated calmly. “I will keep the position of Mrs. Zeller reserved for you.”
Knowing that insisting too much would only cause Colton to feel resentful, Elsa reluctantly agreed.
After hanging up the phone, Elsa furiously smashed her phone against the mirror, shattering it into pieces.
Her manager, startled by the noise, entered the room and was stunned by the scene before her. Hesitantly, she approached and said, “Elsa, you…”
Elsa stared at her fiercely. “Prepare an apology statement. I’m leaving the entertainment industry.”
“Huh?” The manager was shocked. “But-
“Get out of here, now!” Elsa yelled hysterically. The manager didn’t dare to say a word and hurriedly ran out.
Half an hour later, Elsa’s apology statement appeared on the trending list, announcing her impending departure from the entertainment industry.
“Ms. Shelley! Elsa has apologized!”

Marcus also saw the apology statement as soon as it was released and immediately sent it to Cynthia.
Cynthia raised her eyebrows in surprise. She had originally thought that Colton would protect Elsa like before, but to her surprise, he got Elsa to leave the entertainment industry.
Well, it makes sense. After all, Elsa is about to become Mrs. Zeller, so whether she continues her career in the entertainment industry or not doesn’t really matter to her.
Seeing that Cynthia didn’t care, Marcus didn’t say more and continued, “Mr. Zeller has arrived.”
Cynthia pursed her lips. “Please let him in.”
Colton found himself entering Cynthia’s office for the first time. As his gaze fell upon Cynthia, impeccably dressed in professional attire and seated behind her desk, his mind suddenly drifted back to the memories of Francesca’s gentle smile as she sat beside him at the dining table back at the mansion.
In just five short years, she had seemingly transformed into a different
person.
“I’ve already arranged for Elsa to go abroad. Don’t worry, she won’t bother you again.” Colton broke the silence. “I heard from my grandfather that you saved his life…”
He’s here because of Old Mr. Zeller.
Realization dawned on Cynthia. “It was just a small effort on my part. At that time, I didn’t even know he was Old Mr. Zeller.”
