You look truly beautiful today.” Yoel couldn’t help but be dazzled when he saw Cynthia. Even her understated attire did nothing to diminish her exceptional elegance.
No sooner had his words fallen than a playful voice echoed from behind Cynthia. “Uncle Yoel, who do you think is prettier today, me or my mom?”
Although she was only four years old, Luna appeared incredibly delicate, like a little princess who had stepped right out of a fairy tale.
Yoel cast a surprised glance at Cynthia. He hadn’t expected her to bring two children to the engagement banquet.
Left with no other choice, Cynthia reluctantly offered an explanation. To her surprise, Yoel burst into hearty laughter.
He scooped up a child in each arm. “Since you two want to go play, I will take you to have some real fun.”
At Colton’s engagement banquet, he would arrive with Colton’s ex–wife and two children in tow. Yoel couldn’t even begin to imagine how Colton would react upon learning the truth.
Not far off, Anna also arrived at the banquet with Fergus. Seeing Lukas and Luna, she was quite delighted. “Lukas and Luna are here as well?”
This single scene had completely led Fergus, who was behind her, to a total misunderstanding.
His gaze was shrouded in ambiguity as it swept back and forth over the two children. Echoing in his mind was Lynda’s voice, chillingly distant.
“Fergus? Come and meet Lukas and Luna. They are your younger brother and sister,” Anna uttered warmly.
Immediately, Fergus broke into a gentle smile, bending down to greet the two children.
His features were delicate, his smile gentle. It didn’t take long for him to win over Luna’s affections.
Luna gently took Fergus‘ hand, a shy smile playing on her lips.
Lukas, unable to resist, followed along and gave Fergus a nod.
The children got along harmoniously, and Anna’s smile couldn’t have been wider.

When Anna turned around, she saw Elsa’s aunt, Cerise Larson, standing not too far away, watching her with a smile brimming with amusement.
When it came to Cerise, most of the ladies in high society held her in contempt. The primary reason was her less–than–honorable rise to prominence. Her transition from a secretary to a lady of the house was something that the elite wives found utterly detestable.
And there was a significant, albeit not overly profound, connection between Anna and her.
Back when Cerise was single–mindedly determined to marry into a wealthy family, she was serving as George’s secretary. In her quest for power, she resorted to various tactics, event stooping so low as to secretly administer drugs.
Regrettably, at that time, George was deeply in love with Anna, so much so that he even fired Cerise because of it.
Even after Cerise successfully got in bed with Rolf Cohn, the head of Joyner Group, she always viewed this part of her past as a shameful period in her life. Whenever she encountered Anna, she couldn’t help but throw a few sarcastic remarks her way.
By then, the affair between Cynthia and Yoel had become the talk of the town. For her, that was the perfect leverage.
Anna had always adhered to the belief that women should not make life difficult for other women, and she had never retaliated against any of them. However, it seemed that her indifference had led Cerise to perceive her as weak.
Anna merely responded with a faint smile, striking right at Cerise’s weak spot. “I heard that Mr. Cohn has found himself another beautiful secretary recently. Congratulations.”
The fact that Cerise could rise from the position of secretary clearly indicated that Rolf was no simpleton.
After initially becoming involved with Cerise, he divorced his first wife, paving the way for Cerise to step into her place. However, once the novelty wore off, Rolf had already begun to grow restless. It was only due to Cerise’s superior skills that she managed to avoid the same fate as his first wife.
