Panting heavily, Cynthia reached the entrance of the warehouse. She pounded on the metal gate incessantly. “I’m here! Open up!”
Following that, the metal gate swung open. Lynda stood there with her hands folded across her chest, her demeanor as casual as a hostess welcoming her guests. “You’re both here.”
Inside the dimly lit and damp warehouse, three children were bound to chairs with coarse ropes, their petite faces extremely pale.
Behind them sat five to six burly men, their gazes fixed on them unwaveringly, seemingly ready to hurt the children the moment they made any move.
To prevent them from hurting the children, Yoel and Cynthia didn’t dare act recklessly.
Cynthia looked at her coldly. “We’re already here. What do you want?”
Lynda pressed a dagger against her lips, her eyes filled with madness. “Didn’t I say it already? Kneel and prostrate yourself before me three times. Then, I’ll release your children. Oh, that’s not right. I’ll only be letting one child go. Which one do you choose?”

Cynthia’s heart promptly melted. She wished nothing more than to rush forward to hug and comfort them.
Yoel also glanced at Fergus, only to see him sitting on the chair blankly as if he had no anticipation of being rescued.
“Lynda, it’s already a mistake for you to have gone this far. Don’t continue making more mistakes. Repent now, and we can pretend as if nothing ever happened. Fergus is your too, isn’t he?” Yoel stepped forward and coaxed gently.

Yoel’s expression changed drastically as he turned to look at Fergus.
Averting his gaze, Fergus suddenly burst into tears.
“Do you still remember Ruby? That foolish woman was hopelessly in love with you and even secretly bore you a child. Unfortunately, her fate was tragic, and she died young, allowing me to benefit from her misfortune.” Lynda toyed with the dagger. Sauntering over to Fergus, she brandished the blade before his face.
Yoel hadn’t anticipated such a twist of events. He clenched his fists, forcefully suppressing the anger welling up within him.
The icy blade carried bursts of chilliness, causing Fergus to wail in fear, “Daddy, save me!”
“Whatever you want, I agree!” Yoel shouted, his heart clenching.
Only then did Lynda finally put the dagger away leisurely. Her voice was detached as she said, “Haven’t I made myself clear? I want to marry you.”
On instinct, Yoel glanced at Cynthia. Lynda snorted coldly and, to everyone’s shock, cut Fergus’s arm right away.
Cynthia was taken aback. She hadn’t expected Lynda to make her move so hastily and discreetly gripped the weapon hidden in her sleeve, her expression grave.
“Lynda! You lunatic!” Yoel barked.
The look in Lynda’s eyes was ruthless. She raised her hand to stab Fergus once more. However, Cynthia whipped out a wrist–mounted crossbow seemingly out of nowhere and shot at her.
It was the very one Colton gave her previously.
Lynda hadn’t expected Cynthia to actually have a weapon on her. Caught off guard, she was hit by the crossbow,
She let out a scream, the dagger in her hand falling to the ground with a clatter.
The few burly men behind her were stunned, and she loudly reprimanded, “Are you all blind? Come and help me!”
The burly men hurried forward to support her. But at that precise moment, Colton, outside the warehouse, seized the opportunity and had the bodyguards break through the windows and storm in with a single command.
The thugs had never encountered such a grand scene. While they were startled, they were swiftly restrained by the bodyguards.
