Chapter 16

Jaxon’s POV

Seth’s eyes went back and forth between his brilliant neon green and the obsidian black color. His lips twitched between the mischievous smirk of his and a look of fear... He was trying to make it stop. Jayce and I pestered him countless times about not blowing our cover, that we would send this dimension into a frantic. We seem to carry trouble wherever we go...

″Jaxon, what is wrong with him?...″ Jin whispered to me, grasping his smaller hand onto my arm. His voice trembled in fear as Seth’s body began twitching more rapidly, inhuman noises leaking from his throat. I didn’t know what to do... I didn’t want to blow our cover. But I knew if I didn’t do anything this dimension would be blown to pieces... Seth has the ability to destroy this whole earth... at least in this dimension. There wasn’t much I could do. Though I do have some source of power in this dimension because of my heritage, Seth could easily overpower me.

But he doesn’t know how to wield his powers just yet.

″Run,″ I said to the group of boys, pointing in the opposite direction of us. Three of them nodded their heads rapidly as they ran away. Maybe we could get a vampire to Encanto them... but there are too many witnesses here. There could be countless people experiencing this. I have to do this.

The other two stood in their place with the widest smirks on their lips. I could feel the fear radiating off of their body, but it wasn’t as strong as their cockiness.

″I don’t take orders from somebody like you.″ One of them said to me casually, walking closer to Seth. I broke away from Jin’s grip as I hurried over in between them, placing my hand on the guy’s chest to back him away.

″You don’t know what you’re getting yourself into,″ I warned him. I heard the deep laughter from Seth behind me. Whatever that was inside him must have known who I was. He must know that I don’t want him hurting these people. Hell, this side of him may know more about who I am to him than the actual Seth. That may be why he tried to kiss me that night when we were at the kingdom. The real Seth would never do something like that.

″Yeah? Well, you don’t know who I am, kid.″ The boy growled to me, leaning in closer to me. ″You have all those muscles of yours... they are useless if you don’t know how to use them.″ He said viciously to me in my ear.

I looked back at Seth who was already looking at me with those black eyes of his. He tilted his head sideways slightly with a soft smile on his lips. He was obeying my wishes... for now. I knew deep down he wanted to tear this kid apart.

I pulled my attention back to the boy in front of me. His dark brown eyebrows were furrowed in anger, his fists clenched at his sides. He wanted a fight to assert his dominance, prove to himself that he was stronger. He’s been intimidated of Seth and I since we have got here. I know how the high school in this dimension work. When they meet someone who is stronger than them... they hate them.

″You sure you wanna do this, little boy? Don’t want to embarrass you in front of everyone...″ I whispered to him, feeling the confidence rising within me. I’m still strong without using my magic... I could do just fine.

Within in a blink of an eye, a fist was thrown at my face. I stumbled back onto the concrete behind me with a loud smash, my head banging against the hard stone. I heard a loud growl from Seth as the boy approached me, but I held my hand up in the air, motioning him to stop. His eyes furrowed as he crossed his arms like a child... cute.

Before I could think of anything else, the boy wrapped his hand around the color of my shirt. He had the biggest smirk on his face, and his eyes looked murderous. It’s so sad how these boys fight each other to prove a point. What I was trying to do is divert the attention from Seth onto me...

″As I said... they are useless. Just like you.″

″YOU’RE USELESS, JAXON DI ANGELO!″ My uncle screamed at me, tears rolling down his cheeks. We were standing in the bathroom of my house, where my mother laid on the ground. She laid there lifeless... my uncle was telling me It was all my fault.

″Look at her, ragazzo inutile...″ He said in a panic, his speech switching between Italian and English. He went on about how she wished she never had me, that she never loved me. She didn’t want to bare a demon’s child but all the attempts to rid herself of me failed. Now she’s dead because of me. Maybe he’s right. Maybe I am useless. Maybe it is my fault. It’s my fault my mother is dead.

″Useless little boy... Useless...″

I felt the anger burning in my heart. I felt nothing but anger. My whole body was burning with fire. Yellow energy appeared at my fingertips, and I felt a voice urging me to kill him. Make him pay for how he’s talking to me. ″You’re royalty, Jaxon... royalty...″

He’s scum.

I brought my hand up to him, throwing all of the anger I had in my heart at him. A burst of yellow fire came onto his body as he screamed in pain, begging me to stop. Crying out for God to save him from this monster.

Useless boy.

I raised my fist up to the boy, connecting it directly with his face. The punch was so forceful that it flew him back onto the concrete about two feet away from me, blood spouting from his face. I am not useless. Nobody will ever tell me I am useless ever again. I haven’t heard that in over two hundred years. Not once more I will hear it... I’ll fucking rid this kid from the earth myself.

His body slammed onto the ground with the loudest thumb, his eyes widened in fear. He didn’t speak a word for a whole minute until he began screaming, covering his nose. I pulled myself off of the ground, ignoring the pain coursing through my body. I don’t care if he’s human, I’ll finish him. There are so many asshole humans in every single dimension I travel to...

I slowly walked over to him, watching as he struggled to shimmy away on the ground. The other boy that was here was long gone. I don’t know when he left... I guess it’s for the best. What a great fucking friend he is.

I wrapped my hand around the collar of his shirt and listened to the continuous screams leak out of his throat. He was terrified of me. His nose was bleeding heavily, and I could tell that I broke it. He was looking directly into my eyes... I figured they were glowing.

...This is how my father wants me to act. He wants me to use my powers to hurt people. When he took me in when I was younger he raised me to be exactly this. I can’t let him get what he wants.

Before I could think or say anything else, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I figured it was Seth, but when I looked back it definitely wasn’t him. It was Elena.

″What are you doing here?...″ I asked her. She was looking down at me with sympathetic red eyes. Her long black hair was pulled into a tight ponytail, and she wore her signature red lipstick. She wore a black long sleeved shirt with black jeans to match... She wears things like this when she’s on a mission for Jayce. Why is she in this dimension?

″Jayce said he sensed something bad was happening. He sensed you were about to do something bad, along with Seth. I don’t know how he does it...″ She murmured, kneeling down next to me. The boy was no longer screaming, he was staring intently at Elena. She doesn’t go around humans that much for this reason.

″Seth is standing over there in his death mode doing nothing... I don’t really know why. Jayce’s son is sitting in the corner over there crying... I’d cool off and go explain things to him. I’m going to Encanto this kid real quick then go back to the place you guys are staying at.″ She said, squeezing my shoulder. She hasn’t been this kind to me in over one hundred years... And I know her. She isn’t flirting or anything plus she’d never want me back, so it’s nothing like that... perhaps she felt bad for me.

″Thank you, Elena,″ I said to her. She flashed me a soft smile before turning her direction to the boy, her eyes flashing a blood red before she spoke.

″You never saw Jaxon and Seth here. You never fought with them... and you never saw-″ She stopped, her eyes widening. She covered her mouth, looking away from the boy... that’s when I realized.

I slowly turned my head towards Seth, scared at what I would see... there’s no way he could do it from where he was.

He had the biggest smirk on his lips, his black eyes still present. He was slowly twirling his fingers towards himself... and I could help but notice the small glowing white spherical ball heading towards him. He finally grasped it in his hands, the smirk on him growing wider.

...Oh my god.

I slowly stood up, clasping my hands together. Seth tilted his head questioningly at me, his eyes slowly blinking back and forth between the neon green and black. He was slowly coming back to his old self, but I couldn’t take any chances.

″I’ll talk to you later, Angel,″

I mumbled the spell to myself before I thrust my hand forward. The smoke clouded his face instantly, his eyes slowly fluttering shut. I ran over to him before he could fall onto the ground, catching him in my arms. I turned back towards Elena who was already looking at me.

″Elena, try your best to Encanto everyone here. I’m going to take Jin and Seth back to the house.″ I said to her. She nodded her head slowly, her eyes flashing a blood red before turning away from me confidently. There is a way she could Encanto the whole amusement park... but it’s very energy consuming.

I picked Seth up in my arms bridal style, securing my arm under his legs. I walked over to Jin and couldn’t help but frown at his terrified expression. He looked terrified of Seth and I...

″Jin, it’s okay. I know this doesn’t make sense to you... but it will. Please come with me.″ I said to him softly. He shook his head rapidly, backing away from me. I know that he was scared... I wasn’t mad one bit.

″Jin... Tell me. You’ve felt a power within you. You could do things other people can’t do... is that right?″ I asked him. His eyes widened and a deep blush came onto his face.

″If you come with me... I could explain it.″

He slowly nodded his head after a minute, taking my hand in his. He pulled himself up from the ground, whipping the tears in his eyes. I didn’t want him to figure it out this soon... but I suppose I have no choice.

″So they are all asleep?″ Jayce asked me as we walked into the living room. I put Seth in his bed, and Jin would sleep in my bed tonight. After a long talk with him about the things he’s been experiencing through the years... he slowly believed me. About being a warlock... I didn’t tell him Jayce was his father just yet, and who Seth’s father is.

″Yes,″ I replied, sitting down next to him. I was nervous to talk to him about what I saw. I told him that I needed to talk to him about Seth... and that it was extremely important.

″So what is it, Jaxon? Hurry now... you need your sleep.″ He said softly, and I felt the smile linger on my lips. He’s always so thoughtful and worried about how I am.

″Well... Seth didn’t do anything too reckless today...″ I started. He nodded his head slowly, listening to me speak.

″But he did something today that made me realize why he gets in that murderous daze. Why he could kill people with a simple touch.″ I said. His jaw dropped, grasping onto my hand. He’s been worried about Seth doing that... I have been too.

″Tell me...″

″Jayce... he collected a soul today. He didn’t even have to touch him... he twirled his fingers in a certain way and it came to him. He did this last time too...″ I said, my voice cracking.

″... There is a prophecy that I read about. That there would be some sort of being that does that sort of thing... he was described as the prince of demons... but he can’t be that...″ Jayce said quietly.

I knew what Seth was.

He’s the reaper of souls. The grim reaper.
