Chapter 11

Marissa

“Well, you remember all those months ago when the rogue showed up?” I began by asking.

They nodded.

“The rogue mentioned how they were curious about me, about the fact that an Alpha wolf had mated a feline. According to my lioness, the wolves aren’t the only curious ones. Soon felines from all over will begin showing up wanting to meet the new Luna.”

“Well, I suppose that makes sense. I mean, why would they be less curious than the wolves,” Gina said. “I don’t think that will upset Rafe, though, dear.”

“That isn’t all, though. This will begin the change because some will want to stay. That is why the next generation will need two Alphas. It has nothing to do with the size of the Pack and everything to do with the fact that there will end up being as many cats as there are wolves.”

Ma and Gina sat there looking at me with shock on their faces.

Ma was the first to shake it off and say, “Listen to me, Marissa, Rafferty loves you with everything in him, and if you listen to him talk of his babes, you know he loves them too. He has to realize there is a reason for your twins to be one of each. Even his Uncle Ray said it is unusual. So, he may be worrying too, trying to figure out why when you have the answer.”

“I didn’t think of that, Ma, but your right,” I agreed with a soft sigh. “I need to tell him, and I will when he gets home today.”

As soon as Rafferty walked in the door that evening, I said, “Wolfman, we need to talk.”

“Yes, love, we do,” Rafferty agreed. “You have been keeping something from me, and my wolf doesn’t like it.”

“How did he know?” I asked.

Rafferty sighed and sat down next to me. He took my hand, answering, “We feel it, love, our worry, your anxiety. My wolf whined all morning, wanting to check on you. I finally called, and Ma answered, saying you were fine, just napping. Now tell me, what are you so worried about?”

So, I told him everything. When I finished, he sat back with a stunned look on his face, staring into space.

“Rafferty, we know changes in the Pack are coming,” Marissa said. “There has to be for the Pack to need two Alphas.”

“I know, love. I just never dreamed that it would be Pack and Pride living like one,” Rafferty softly admitted.

Leaning my head on his shoulder, I sighed as he played with a lock of my hair. I listened to my lioness speak for a moment before saying, “Rafferty, my lioness says not to worry because everything will be fine. Our babes will be strong, and they will be more than capable of finishing what we will start. She said Pack and Pride had come together before, and ours will thrive. She also mentions that we need to be ready because soon they’ll start coming.”

“Alright, love, I trust you and your inner lioness. So, let’s go to bed. Tomorrow will be another long day.”

Then, he helped me up, and we headed to bed.

Rafferty

The day was finally here. The day the Pack would officially become mine. It was also my twenty-second birthday.

“Your awake early, wolfman. Are you excited about today?” Marissa asked, looking up at me from where she had her head on my stomach.

I looked at her and smiled. She was lying sideways on the bed facing me. Her belly was so big she couldn’t cuddle up to me. If we weren’t spooning, this was the way she would lay so that she could see me.

“No, not really,” I answered. “This is just what I’ve trained for my whole life.”

She nodded. Her hand came up, and she began to run her fingers along my chest, dragging her nails through my chest hair. I felt my wolf stir at the touch of his mate and growled deep in my chest.

Marissa looked up, her eyes half-closed, and I knew she felt it too. Sitting up, I propped myself against the headboard and brought Marissa up to lay against me. Wrapping one hand in her hair, I leaned in to kiss her as my other hand roamed.

I caressed her breast gently before sliding my hand down over her large belly, giving a satisfied growl at the thought of my babes in her womb. Moving my hand further down, I ran it along her bare thigh, and she moaned, her head dropping back as my mouth moved down her neck.

“Rafferty, you make me feel so sexy even though I’m big as a house,” Marissa murmured as she placed kisses on my chest.

“Ah, my love. You are sexy, and you have no idea how badly I want you even at four months pregnant,” I murmured in her ear.

Marissa slightly turned so that she could wrap her hand around my arousal. “Wolfman, I think I have an excellent idea.”

I growled as her hand began to move. It made me quiver and wish I were inside her warm wet body. I slid my hand up under her gown, and my fingers began to rub at her gently. She was so wet and ready, and I wanted her. I nipped and kissed along her neck and at her naked shoulder as her hand moved faster, and her moans grew louder.

“Rafferty, please,” Marissa begged as she arched up against my hand.

“Tell me, love, tell me what you want,” I growled.

“You, just you,” Marissa whimpered.

“We shouldn’t. You’re too far along.”

“I’m not due for another two weeks,” Marissa reminded him. “Please, Rafferty, I need to feel you inside me.”

I growled, my wolf becoming excited, thinking about loving on his mate.

So, I gently turned her placing her on her knees, straddling me, her back to my front. When she slid down, sheathing me, I almost howled because it felt so good. Both of us were too far gone for it to last long, and I quickly lost it as I felt her tighten around me.

We were both panting and sweaty as she moved to sit between my legs and lay back against my chest. Kissing her neck, I ran my hands over her belly as I felt the babes move.

“I love you, Marissa.”

“I love you too, and happy birthday.”

I chuckled. “Was that my present? If it was, I liked it.”

“Mm, one of them,” Marissa answered. “We need to be getting up, though. It takes me a while to get ready, and the ceremony is at eleven.”

I sighed. I didn’t want to leave this position of holding my mate, but I knew I had to.

“Alright. Let’s share a shower first,” I said as I helped her up. Then we slowly made our way to the bathroom.

Twenty minutes later, we had showered, and after helping Marissa dress, we made our way downstairs.

“Well, good morning, you two. Happy Birthday, Rafferty,” Marissa’s Ma said as she turned for the stove to look at us.

“Morning, Ma. Where is everyone?” Marissa asked as I helped her into her chair.

“They went early this morning to get everything ready for the ceremony,” Marissa’s Ma answered as she placed a plate of food in front of us. “Oh, and it seems the tiger friend of the Alpha, along with his family, have come for the ceremony.”

“Do you mean Joe?” Marissa asked as she picked up her fork to eat.

Her ma nodded. “Yes, I believe that is his name.”

“Okay,” Marissa said and started to eat.

About halfway through, I heard Marissa hiss and turned to look at her. She was rubbing her stomach and grimacing in pain. I thought back to what we had done earlier and became worried. So, I asked, “Love, are you alright?”

Marissa groaned. “They are going to be so spoiled.”

I chuckled. “Yes, these babies will be, and I plan to be the first one to do it.” I rubbed on her belly. “You boys will be special. Your parents and grandparents are going to spoil you rotten, but only because they love you.”

“Yes, they will be,” Marissa and her ma said together as Marissa lay her hand over mine.
