Chapter 57 

While sitting on the bed, Yennefer stared at Jonathan with a glacial expression. 

“Jonathan, let’s get a divorce!” Yennefer did not beat around the bush. 

Jonathan frowned upon hearing that. 

He questioned her in an impatient and harsh tone, “Why are you bringing up divorce again? Is it because my mother said something offensive to you 

once more?” 

He went on to say, “Yenny, my mother is getting old. Can you please stop having pointless arguments with her all the time? And she started to behave in such a way because you have not given birth to a child!”

His statement only served to make her already icy heart even colder. 

Glancing at the unfamiliar Jonathan, she couldn’t help but think, “It’s unbelievable how ugly a person’s true nature can be.” 

“It’s not because of your mother, Jonathan. Since you already have a lover out there, let’s get a divorce. I’ll make room for her in your life. Wouldn’t it be better for you to marry her, have her take care of your mother, and have children with her?” 

Jonathan was caught off guard by her words. He instinctively felt that Yennefer must have noticed something! 

Either way, he wouldn’t admit to his wrongdoings easily. He forced himself to calm down. He even lost his temper out of embarrassment by glaring at Yennefer. “What are you talking about? Haven’t I already explained the lipstick stain on my shirt and the earring left in my car?” 

Yennefer didn’t want to waste her time with him any longer. She threw the phone at Jonathan and said, “Look at it yourself” 

Jonathan picked up the phone. 

He then saw the photo of him shopping in the mall with his secretary, Winnic, previously in Yennefer’s phone. There were even photos of him buying a necklace for Winnie and kissing the latter with her in his arms. 

Jonathan was in utter shock after seeing those photos! 

He panicked and quickly explained, “Yenny, it’s not what you think! Winnie and I were joking around. I don’t have any feelings for her! The only reason even considered it is because my mother has been pressuring me to have a child, and we’ve been unable to conceive. I’m stuck between you and my mother… Yenny, I want to fix things and bring us back to the loving relationship we used to have. I don’t want our lives to be in this messy state anymore. I’m trying to use her to give us a baby” 

Meanwhile, Jonathan felt Yennefer didn’t have any direct evidence of him and Winnie. After all, she didn’t catch him in bed with Winnie. 

Therefore, he argued, “I haven’t escalated things with Winnie! We only kissed, and I bought her the necklace to comfort her when you found out about us. Everything I told you is true.” 

Jonathan lifted his hands in a vow and said, “Yenny, I swear that if I’ve deceived you and betrayed our relationship, I will… I will never have a child, stay 

alone, and suffer for the rest of my life.” 

Yennefer smiled coldly after hearing that. 

At this point, she no longer believed any word Jonathan had said. 

“Jonathan, don’t try to make excuses for cheating on me! Even if you and Winnie haven’t had the chance to take things further, it’s still an affair! Moreover, you are so intimate with her in public! Do you really expect me to believe that nothing happened between you two?” 

Yennefer was utterly disappointed, and her heart turned ice–cold. 

She told Jonathan, “Let’s get a divorce. I’ve had enough of such a depressing life!” 

Yennefer then stood up, 

Her expression was grim, but she was calm. “Since we once loved each other, I hope we can go our separate ways on good terms. Please don’t make things ugly. I’ll be moving out today.” 

She continued, “Since we don’t have children, I’m willing to let go of this house, even though we bought it together using our marital property after getting married. However, I did contribute half of the down payment and had been paying the mortgage. Therefore, I hope you can give me half the house’s value in cash. Let’s file for divorce at the City Hall tomorrow, or we can set another date as long as it’s done as soon as possible.” 

After saying that, Yennefer took the suitcase and was ready to leave. 

Jonathan grabbed her wrist and begged, “Yenny, you can’t divorce me! I was wrong, and I’m sorry. But, Yenny, I love you!” 

Jonathan insisted on not letting Yennefer leave. 

In a desperate attempt to win Yennefer back, he fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face, and pleaded, “Yenny, I’ll do whatever you say. Please forgive me. I will break up with Winnie right away. I will stop her from giving birth to our baby and kick her out of the company.” 

However, Yennefer was unforgiving. She was determined to leave, with her eyes turning red from indifference and disgust. “I cannot trust someone who has betrayed me once. Jonathan, you make me feel sick and dirty now!”

Samantha heard their quarrel. 

She abruptly pushed the door open and approached, yanking Jonathan up from the ground. “Don’t you have any dignity? How could you be so foolish. as to kneel before her? If she wants a divorce, grant her wish!” 

Samantha widened her eyes and glared fiercely at Yennefer. “What are you doing? My son has merely found himself a lover, And besides, it’s all because you can’t conceive!” 

Samantha was so mean. 

She wished for Jonathan and Yennefer to divorce, as she despised Yennefer and longed to evict her from the house. 

Samantha impatiently took Yennefer’s suitcase and threw it outside the room. “You can leave now! You can stop dreaming about getting the house or money from my son!” 

Upon seeing such, Jonathan yelled, “Mom!” 

He then shielded Yennefer from his mother. “Please don’t say that to Yenny. I’m the one who did something wrong. I love her deeply, and I can’t lose 

her!” 

Samantha stared at Jonathan and said, “You’re such an idiot! You are a man and a successful businessman with a company, a house, and cars. You can have any kind of woman you desire!” 

Jonathan refuted, “I love Yenny!” 

He didn’t want Samantha to interfere with his relationship with Yennefer, as he was fully aware that Yennefer had put in half the effort in helping him achieve everything he currently had. 

Moreover, in his heart, although Yennefer couldn’t conceive a child, he swore not to divorce her! 

As he pulled Samantha away, Jonathan said in a low voice, “Josie is now the Levine family’s nanny. She also has some connections with the Hayes family. The reason the Hayes family was willing to help me resolve the company’s issue last time was because of her. Mom, for the sake of my company, I cannot divorce Yenny, no matter how many lovers I have. So, please do not interfere with this.” 

Samantha wanted to refute her son. “But…” 

“No buts!” Jonathan promised, “Don’t worry. I want to protect my career, and I will have a son eventually! I will make sure you will become a grandmother soon!” 

Jonathan then pushed Samantha back to her own room. 

As he emerged from the room, he spotted Yennefer grabbing the suitcase, which had been flung into the living room by Samantha, and marching toward the front door with it. 

He immediately stopped her. 

He knelt before Yennefer again, crying and begging, telling Yennefer how much he loved her! He even asked her to think about the seven–year relationship they shared together. 

Yennefer, however, was determined to leave. 

Samantha couldn’t resist and walked out of the room after hearing the happenings outside.
