Since the moments in the gym, I tried to comfort her as best I could, but I didn’t realize how much she had been carrying as baggage this whole time. Hearing her sob like that broke my heart. I feel like I should do something to make her smile and cheer her up. I saw the bracelet that Koa got Violet and it looked nice on her and I debated getting one for Esme. I’ve seen Koa’s mom making and selling them at our local market sometimes. They supposedly have some healing power from the stone, but I’m not sure how true that is. At this rate I’m willing to do anything to cheer up my Luna… sure we all have our bad days, but this is the lowest I’ve seen her since I’ve met her. Maybe a run in wolf form would cheer her up. Just a carefree run, the two of us without worrying about the mess we’re in right now.

“Koa, I need to see you in my office for a minute. I need to run something by you.”

“Sure, no problem. Training just finished and I’ll see you soon.” Great, I made good timing! It didn’t take him long for him to show up and I can tell he came straight here which I like.

“What’s up? I skipped my shower since it sounded like you needed me.” He looked nervous and out of breath.

“Well, I appreciate the pace, but it wasn’t necessary. With all the stress that’s been going on lately I want to take Esme out, but what?”

“I totally agree that girl has been through a lot. I’d say take her to the family cabin, but I think that’s where Warg is hiding and we’d be taking her to the lion’s den. So plan b could be going to my family cabin near the stream, in the woods, and re-create your first date minus pushing her in. Maybe go for a wolf run. I know you haven’t gone in a long time and with all this going on I don’t think her new wolf has stretched her legs and meet yours. We’ll totally hold down the fort for you.” It feels so good that he has my back and offers me these ideas.

“Thanks, man. I so owe you one.” I have instant relief on my face as I head towards the door.

“She deserves it. The way she was sobbing this morning it broke my heart to see not only my friend that way but as my Luna… it hurt. So, take her to that cabin that way Warg is thrown off he probably doesn’t know where that is, you two can redo what was a mess, and relax. All this training has been taking a toll on both of you.”

“You know times like these make me so proud that you’re my beta and my friend.” I give him a clap on the shoulder and a proud smile.

“Thanks, Alarick. Now go to your lady and win her over again.” He pushes me towards the door.

“Alright, alright I’m going you and Violet are in charge for the weekend. If any signs of danger let us know and we’ll be back. We’ll let you know as well.”

“Yeah, sure I know the drill now go.”

I leave my office in Koa’s capable hands and start heading back to our room to pack for the weekend. I look at the clock on my nightstand and realize that Esme’s done with her training for the day.

“Esme, wildflower, would you come to our room? I have something to tell you.”

“Uh, sure I’ll be there in a few minutes.” I finish up packing for the both of us just in time for her to walk in the door.

“Are we going somewhere?” She looks at me with a confused look while noticing the bags on the bed.

“Yup just you and me. No training, no pack, just you and me in nature. Koa said we could go to his family cabin for the weekend. With your little meltdown this morning I never realized how much was on your mind, and I want to help. Let’s even travel in wolf form. How often when not in training does your wolf get to come out?”

“Not often… Mera has been begging me for a fun run.”

“Exactly Gunner hasn’t fully appreciated his beautiful and amazing mate as I have. So, I got us all packed and we can leave right now. Koa and Violet will hold down the fort while we’re gone.” A look of surprise on her face makes me.

“You really thought this through… well let me get cleaned up from training and we’ll go, ok?”

“Sure, but don’t bother changing we can get there faster by wolf.” I give her a little sly smile at the thought of seeing her naked again. It has been a while since we’ve been romantic and I can’t wait to show her what I have in store for her. She gives me a sly smile back as she walks towards the bathroom and I seek the opportunity. I quickly change and follow her in the shower. She slowly lifts off her shirt and to be honest I had forgotten how beautiful she really is. I wrap my arms around her waist and give her the most passionate kiss I could give. I feel her wrap her arms around my neck as she relaxes. It felt so good to have her relax. It’s felt so long that we’ve been able to enjoy each other’s company. I grab her from behind and grab her chest while we get into the shower.

“I’ve missed you too.” We let the warm water help dissolve the stress we’ve been under away and just us have our moment. “We are too.”

We both got down on all fours and shifted quickly. Mera looked even more beautiful if that was possible. Mera is more of a blueish green now instead of the blueish gray like it was before. Maybe an infusion of her fairy and wolf powers. Still, she looks beautiful and powerful. All the alpha training is showing through her wolf now and she’s almost to my shoulder.

“You look beautiful, Mera.” I lick her cheek.

“Thanks, Gunner. You’re still handsome and I think even muscular than the last time I saw you, I like.” She also licks my cheek and nibbles on my ear. Ok, I can see where this is going.

“Before we get too crazy, I know the way to the cabin so let’s get there before dark.” We take about 30mins to get there with our wolves, but we take our time going inside. The cabin was recently cleaned thanks to Koa and Violet. She goes near the stream for a drink and this time I don’t push her in like our first date. “Nah, I wouldn’t leave you that easy, but I would do this.” She trots over to where I am, grabs me, and shoves me in wolf form. Again, if she could laugh, she’d be rolling, but I guess I had that coming. I get out and I see her rolling in the grass.

“Yes, you did and man did it feel good!” She continued to roll in the grass and just that simple act of pushing me in a shallow stream has made her stress almost gone.

“Ok, I’m glad you got your payback and laughs. Shall we go inside now?”

“What’s the matter, Gunner? Don’t like to be wet?” I could hear her growling from the porch of the house.

“No, I’m just happy that you’re laughing. I haven’t heard you laugh in a long time. If ever since I’ve known you…” Wow, that’s a sad realization.

“It’s good to laugh. Come on, let’s go inside and we can be our human selves again.” She shifts back to herself and I just stare at her for a moment and memorize her beauty.

I shift back too and bring the luggage upstairs to the bedroom. I come back down with a pair of shorts on and I see her still naked making dinner.

“Well, dinner and a show. I like the service here!” I walk over to her and sit on a stool chair near the counter.

“Now that you think of it, yeah I had always wondered. I remember being back at Scarlett Claws and the guys would always eat! “Sure, I like that.” We both shift and head downstairs towards the woods. Mera nuzzles up to me and we just leave them alone. Gunner has been wanting this as much as I have and I know he wants pups as much as I do. We probably go for a 5mi run when they finish and they seem just as happy as we are. This is what we both needed… a chance to relieve some stress and enjoy each other’s company. By the time we get back, there’re flowers on the table, ingredients for a nice dinner on the kitchen counter, and a new dress for her in a box on the table.

“What’s all this??” The shock of all my gestures made her smile.

“Besides a good time, I wanted to shower you with as much love as I could. With some help from Koa and Violet, they helped me put this together. Flowers you like, a dress that I hope you like, and your favorite meal.”

“Oh Alarick… this is beautiful… you three have outdone yourselves. I don’t know what to say…”

“How about you change into this lovely dress Violet picked and I’ll make dinner.”

“Alright.” She grabs the box and heads upstairs. I take the ingredients for her mom’s recipe of shepherd’s pie and start making dinner. Ground beef, mashed potatoes, corn, and shredded cheese. Simple ingredients but a yummy home-cooked meal. I did as her mom instructed and by the time, I had put dinner in the oven I could smell her scent on the stairs. When she came down in her new dress, I was the one shocked. She came down in a ¾ sleeve, v-neck emerald green dress with enough of her cleavage showing to tease me.

“You look beautiful.”

“Thank you, dinner smells delicious. What did you make?” She smelled the air trying to figure out what it was.

“Your mom’s shepherd’s pie recipe. She told me it’d cheer you up.”

“Aww, mom… it was one of my favorites.” She smiled at me and probably has fond memories of her home.

“Thought a little taste of home might cheer you up.” She wraps me in a hug around my waist and I knew I had done something right.

“Thank you for all of this. You were right, I needed to get away for a little while to clear my head and just be with you. No alpha and luna, no training, no looking behind my shoulder for Warg, nothing… thank you.”

“You’re welcome…” I hold on to her until she broke apart from the hug. I wanted her to hug me for as long as she needed to. We enjoy our quiet night watching a TV show together before going to bed for the night. I’m so glad I could make her so happy.
