Enceladus 4: The Invasion
Chapter Twenty-One

March third, we had our assignment. SE spotted Titan’s ship coming to Earth. Shuttles broke off and headed for Asia and D.C., just like that Rhean said. We were now on our way to Asia. Beijing, China specifically. The other half of mine and Mel’s planets were in Russia fighting Rheans.

We touched down in Beijing and I barely had time to blink before we were thrown into the fight. With Titans.

“We are outnumbered,” someone said.

That we were. There were so many of them and they were huge and terrifying and I wasn’t afraid of much. They were so tall, so terribly tall. Ten to fifteen feet easily. It seemed the history books were wrong about their height. They were taller than anyone knew.

Although, fighting them wasn’t too difficult. I slashed at calves and brought them to their knees so I could slit their throats or take from them. And taking from them left me the ultimate high. It was intense but not as bad as when I took from all those Tethian dragons during the war.

I also used my wings as an advantage, stabbing my broadsword through their thick necks before they could swat me out of the air.

Titans were slow. I was able to duck under their legs and easily maneuver a nasty kill. Another weakness was the amount of sweat pouring off them. It was like rain. I remembered that John told us their planet was cold and always snowing. Their fatigue made them even more slow and groggy.

Mel watched me take from many Titans. I didn’t feel so self-conscious about it anymore. He grinned at me and I felt better. He seemed to think it was cool. Think again, Mel.

Even though killing them was easy (at least for Enceladians), there were too many of them. We were still outnumbered and it appeared we were losing. All they had to do to kill one of us was put their giant foot down.

I knew some of the Titans’ shuttles went past Beijing but the majority landed here. Even some Rheans were here, helping them.

Mel’s people, Janus, and Enceladus were trying to fight them with a few thousand Hyperions.

Multiple times I found myself entranced in the beauty of the nymphs’ skills.

Hamaza, whom I met in the warehouse three days ago, was fighting two Titans at once. I had no clue how, seeing as how she was less than half their height. With one of the Titans, she used her control of water to drown him. She forced the water down his throat until he choked and collapsed. The other one she used like a ladder. Once she got to his torso, she created a huge ice spear and dove it through his heart.

“That was amazing!” I shouted once she jumped down.

She grinned. “Thanks, Amelia. You are bad ass.” She said the words like she was tasting them, probably because she just learned the phrase.

I watched another Hyperion, (who was naked, long orange hair covering her), an air nymph apparently, use air to suffocate a Titan. They were a very skilled species. Another nymph (also naked) used her fire to set a Titan ablaze.

I thanked Hamaza and flew to the sky. I sourced one Titan and then another. Then another and another. After that, I felt dizzy from so much power. I lowered to the ground and fought with a Rhean. She almost scalped me because of how I swayed from the energy in my veins.

A few hours later, we were still fighting. Still more of them than us.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse a new shuttle appeared in the sky. It looked familiar.

I stopped breathing when it landed.

It was a Tethys ship.

“It’s Tethys!” Lynx yelled and then cursed in Enceladian.

The doors opened and my siblings gathered. Out stepped Amara. With a dozen of her citizens.

No. No way. She was supposed to be locked up on an SE prison ship. How did she get free?

She flew right to us. She had on a long black dress and a golden crown, holding a new scepter. “Miss me?”

We attacked. Caelum threw icicle shards at her which bounced right off. Cassiopeia hurled fire balls at her that dissipated right in front of her. Lynx used his blade to whack at her. It stopped. She had a force field up. She just grinned.

I didn’t think, I just dove for her feet, hoping the force field was only up top. I was right. I knocked her down, her scepter sent flying and pressed my F-S to her throat. “Stay still,” I commanded her with mind control. “Drop your shield.” She did and I stabbed her in the stomach. She grunted but didn’t move. “That’s for Caelum.” I stabbed her once more. “That’s for Alexander.” Then I slit her throat. “That was for Alessa.”

I didn’t know what came over me but soon I was sobbing. Talia was holding me and my siblings had formed a circle, fighting off Titans and Rheans and Tethians for us.

I steeled myself and stood to fight with my family.

Soon, we weren’t horribly outnumbered. It was bearable. Although, I shouldn’t have said anything.

People from Janus started turning on us.

One guy punched me and I thought he had just made a mistake until I noticed it was happening everywhere. Every single Janus citizen was fighting us, the non-evil species.

I was distracted enough for the guy to use his tattoos. They flowed off of his arm and created a creature taller than me and incorporeal. I knew it was incorporeal because I swung my sword through it and met no resistance.

Perfect.

I tried to get at the guy but the ink was in my way. Then I had an idea. I flicked my wrist and froze the tattoo creature. Then I hit it with my sword. It shattered.

I smiled at the guy and thrusted my blade into his heart.

I was locked in combat with another one and held him with my telekinesis. “Why have you all changed sides?”

Either he figured he was going to die anyway, or he wanted credit for being clever but he told me exactly why. “It was our plan from the very beginning. We never wanted to save Earth,” he spat. “We wanted to see the end of it.”

I scoffed and took from him, recharging my energy. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I was fighting a Tethian when I spotted King Peidax. I left the Tethian before he could turn around and marched up to the King.

I grabbed Peidax by the neck. “What the Hell is going on?”

His eyes went wide. “I swear I didn’t know this was going to happen.” He raised his hands.

“Yeah right.” I looked behind him. His sword was sticking out from one of his own people. I felt a twinge of guilt and sympathy but pushed it away.

“I didn’t know, Princess. They wouldn’t tell their King that they were going to do this. I would have never let them.”

I tried to hear his thoughts. “I would never do anything like that. Why would she think that?”

I sighed and released him. “Fine. But I am watching you.”

“Amelia!” Talia shouted. I turned. “What’s going on?” Her voice was shrill and when she hugged me, she was tense.

“I just killed someone from Janus and he said that this was their plan from the very beginning.”

“Oh! That’s so awful!”

She wasn’t acting like herself. “Are you okay, love?” I brought my hands to her cheeks.

“Amelia . . . ?”

I froze. I looked behind Talia and saw—no, my mind was playing tricks on me—another Talia.

Two fëŵås Talias.

I backed away from the first one.

“Amelia, that’s not me. That’s someone form Janus,” said the second one.

They stood side by side. I couldn’t talk.

“No, she is the imposter.” The first one pointed at the second.

“Wh-what is something only Talia would know?”

“Orion is not your father,” the second one told me.

“Anyone could know that!” the first one whined. Whined? “Of course Orion isn’t your father.”

One of the Talias held love in her eyes. The other had only a calculating gaze.

I knew which one was mine. I marched right up to one—the first one—and stabbed her. As she collapsed, she turned back into whoever she really was.

Talia threw her arms around me. “How did you know it was me?”

“Your eyes.” I whispered in her hair. I leaned back and kissed her passionately before we had to get back to reality.

We fought for another hour and it seemed we were winning.

Then my heart was broken.
